5 month olds first food was half a Cadburys Pot of Joy

Thankfully I intervened before my 3 year old proudly fed him the second half. He proudly told me that baby brother doesn't want milk anymore as he eats food now! Blush

I only left them alone for 2 minutes with baby in his bouncer and my son sat at his table eating pudding!

I hadn't thought about weaning yet but I've got a chocolate faced baby who is extra smiley and licking his lips.. not sure carrot purée will be popular after his introduction to solids 😂

Haha it's a good story for the future!

Last week I bought my DD7 a solero and put her eating it in the car with my DD4m while I put the buggy in the boot. When I walked round to the front I caught her giving baby sister licks of the lolly 🙈 they both looked so cheeky when I got in the car.

bakewellbride · 25/06/2023 19:24

Dh gave our youngest a biscuit at 5 and a half months. I mean it wasn't her first food and it was homemade but I was still a bit shocked!

Ladyoftheknight · 25/06/2023 19:31

Most people avoid this type of situation by not leaving their children in bouncers unsupervised!

Really 🙄

I weaned my youngest on mango, I told her sister if she didn’t eat it I’d feed it to the baby.. then I did.. just a mouthful.
Eldest child was gob smacked.

RJnomore1 · 25/06/2023 19:35

Brilliant story op and well done for a sense of proportion about it.

ignore the misery having a go about supervision. There’s always one (or usually more than one on here these days!)

gogomoto · 25/06/2023 19:35

Dd grabbed a McDonald's fry at 12 weeks and sucked on it, didn't do get any harm

ChangeIsInevitable · 25/06/2023 19:36

Scary...but sweet as it ended well. Hopefully he's now learned not to feed the baby without you present. Cute that he wanted to share with his little brother.

ForeverYellow · 25/06/2023 19:38

Apparently my parents walked in to me feeding my 6m baby sister quavers at six o’clock one morning.

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 25/06/2023 19:39

DS2 had a choc chip brioche on Christmas morning for his first food. He just reached over and grabbed it. I was planning to wait till the new year when he was 6 months to start weaning. I've a photo later in the day eating a spout at lunch time. He's 16 next week and no harm done I don't think. He's a great cook though!

FasterthanBolt · 25/06/2023 19:41

Ds1 fed ds2 a shreddie when he was about a month. I phoned the HV in a panic who very kindly calmed me down and promised me nothing bad would happen. It happens to the best of us even if they're supervised closely 🙄

daffodilandtulip · 25/06/2023 19:50

DS2 had garlic bread ... any kind of garlic had been my pregnancy craving with him as well!

HippyChickMama · 25/06/2023 19:52

We started ds on purées at 4 months on medical advice, all homemade, organic, single veg to start with etc. His younger sister got to 6 months on milk only and then swiped a slice of pepperoni pizza from my plate, she refused to let go of it once she'd got it to her mouth and it's still her favourite now

SarahAndQuack · 25/06/2023 19:55

Grin Oh, that's funny!

It could be worse - my DD's first food was the greedy fingerful of fish gravy (which, I wasn't bothered about), but her second was ... the mealworms in suet we were feeding the birds. Eugh.

And no, she wasn't six months old either. Disgusting little urchin. She seems none the worse for it.

elliejjtiny · 25/06/2023 20:04

Ds1 was about 4 months old when I was eating an ice lolly while holding him. Dh had to ask me if I realised ds1 was sucking happily on the other end of it Blush

MaryPoppinPills · 25/06/2023 20:12

If it makes you feel any better my youngests first food at 5 months was kfc chicken. She made a grab for it from the bucket at alarming speed. She survived.

Creditcrunch2243 · 25/06/2023 20:14

😂 my first I had a special cook book with all these weaning recipes and special machines and pots to make the purées with and store them. I remember telling a very experienced mom about how you should only do single vegetables first so they don’t get a sweet tooth (bless her for not laughing in my face). My second baby’s first food was a mince pie 😂

yikesanotherbooboo · 25/06/2023 20:19

DC1 ; After Eight mints fed to them by DH's boss's wife.
DC2 ; wax crayons fed to them by DC1 who felt sorry for younger sib but had nothing better to offer!

Emmamoo89 · 25/06/2023 20:23

I gave my son vanilla ice cream at 4 months. He loved it

HappiDaze · 25/06/2023 20:24

That's an adorable story OP

When my DD was 9 months old she scoffed her dads full plate of Christmas lunch.

We all sat and watched open mouthed and then couldn't stop laughing.

HappiDaze · 25/06/2023 20:26

She was sitting in his lap at the time and was only going to be having purred or soft veggies

nocoolnamesleft · 25/06/2023 20:27

That's a very generous 3 year old, to sacrifice their Pot of Joy.

bakewellbride · 25/06/2023 20:28

@Creditcrunch2243 you sound like me! First child's food was all lovingly prepared. No pouches or rusks in sight - these were basically like feeding a baby drugs in my ridiculous mind.

Second baby has a rusk pretty much every day and the odd pouch here and there. She has had garlic bread, chocolate, all sorts of things I would never have dreamed of feeding my baby son.

Interestingly it's my eldest who is the fussy eater, dd eats everything! All my efforts were for nothing 😂

spidermonkeys · 25/06/2023 20:29

McDonald's chip for baby number 3.

Beginningless · 25/06/2023 20:30

That is very cute and just as well it was baby 2, can you imagine the horror of it was your PFB?!
