Exactly as title asks, what are they into? At home, school clubs, out of school hobbies, anything at all that they enjoy doing. My daughter just needs something to ‘get into’ what do your similar aged daughters enjoy doing? Thanks in advance

DD just turned 9.

Brownies and Swimming for out of school activities. Recently started calling on neighbour kids and playing at theirs or our house rather than arranged play dates.

Enjoys reading, Lego, craft kits like growing crystals, making slime, those stupidly expensive little resin kits to make tiny food items, YouTube (spy ninjas, mr beast, A for Adley, snake discovery), listening to music and singing along, finding insects in the garden, swing ball.

NuffSaidSam · 29/05/2023 22:05

From the 8/9 year olds I know:

Gymnastics
Horse riding
Ice skating
Dance (various kinds)

And all of them love crafts of various kinds (knitting, crochet, mosaic, drawing videos, painting, jewellery making, journalling).

Also know one who really loves gardening.

TellKingTutIWantMyMummy · 29/05/2023 22:08

Everything! Bike riding, swimming, dog walking, gymnastics, anything sociable like brownies, computers, drama, dance.

Cubs, football, running and swimming as the clubs my DD did at 8/9

She's 10 now and does the same except has moved on to scouts.

Weallgottachangesometime · 29/05/2023 22:11

Not a daughter but my son that age has recently got really into making stop motion films and doing coding games on scratch. Does swimming and a martial art as formal activities.

AliceMcK · 29/05/2023 22:15

I’ve got 3 DDs, at this age

gymnastics
switch
roblox
reading
drama
loom bands
art, colouring
makeup/fashion
skateboards
family board games
one taught herself to sew, knit and crochet
We are a bit of a fantasy/sci-fi/ super hero family so watch a lot of these types of movies, graphic novels, tv & enjoy comic cons.

At DDs school there are a lot of girls who play football, almost all girls in year 5 & 6 play for local teams as well in the school team.

PuttingDownRoots · 29/05/2023 22:15

My DD has recently turned 10. Her extracurricular activities are Rugby and Cubs/Scouts (she's currently doing her transfer time).
She also does climbing and watersports with her dad.
Shes in the school drama club.

In free time shrikes going out on her bike with friends, lego/similar craft, making her bedroom resemble a bomb site and conning her grandfather into a trip to the ice cream shop.

AtomicBlondeRose · 29/05/2023 22:20

DD, 9, likes gymnastics and Brownies as clubs. She loves making up/learning elaborate “tiktok” dances (although she doesn’t have tiktok), building Lego towns, or Barbie houses, making food out of clay, drawing, reading, riding her bike round the block and sometimes calling for nearby friends (just recently been allowed to do this so it’s very novel to her), dumb games on her tablet, SSniperwolf videos and watching stuff from Britain’s Got Talent on YouTube, designing clothes, making jewellery and friendship bracelets, playing flute or recorder, and will go through fads like wanting to freeze things or melt stuff in the microwave!

Busybusybusy · 29/05/2023 22:23

Cece92 · 29/05/2023 22:27

My DD9 (almost 10) likes going out to play with her friends just along to the park. She goes horse riding once a week, and goes to a couple after school clubs (out door play and glee club) she likes dancing in the house but dancing in front of people at a class is her idea of hell. She likes watching young sheldon at the minute, arts crafts, drawing, doing loom bracelets, skin care 🙈 she play her iPad aswell and enjoys reading in the evening. She doesn't entertain toys which is very very sad xx

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 29/05/2023 22:29

Gymnastics, super mario, videoing herself with her tablet youtube style/tiktok dances (she doesn't have accounts for them)
Jigsaws, loom bands, monkey bars in the park, malory towers, dancing to music on echo
Tv, tablet, switch (as much as she can get away with)
She does swimming, tennis & gymnastics out of school & football, street dance, cookery club after school.

purpleme12 · 29/05/2023 22:30

Mine is 9.
Activities are brownies, swimming, gymnastics.
She likes playing. Playing games with me, make believe or board etc etc.
Playing with Barbies.
She still needs me to play with. We play together all the time.
Going to playground.
Loads of things. She plays one thing for a short period then gets bored and moves onto something else!

theworldhasgoneinsane · 29/05/2023 22:30

Gymnastics (in a club, competitions and all over the house!)
Swimming
Bike riding
Basketball
Drawing
Colouring
Lego
Making up dances and 'shows' with her sisters

CaramelicedLatte · 29/05/2023 22:31

DD is 9.5. Her first love is animals, specifically horses and dogs. She rides once a week (lessons) and adores our dog. She loves taking the dog for a walk with us.

She also loves going to the theatre, she's a big Matilda fan! She reads voraciously, I can barely afford to keep up with her book requirements! Thank goodness for Kindles.

She enjoys crafting, at the moment she's especially into both loom bands and papercraft, though tie-dying is a big hit too, when she can find plain white things to die.

She goes to Brownies, where she is a Sixer, and she's currently leading a group doing their wellbeing badge. She's got very into this, and loves a Spa evening, with face masks, nails etc. She also loves going shopping, particularly to buy stationery with my money instead of her own. Grin

TokyoSushi · 29/05/2023 22:31

DD is 9 almost 10 (Y5) and goes to dance, St John ambulance and is on the local football team.

Aside from that she has just started going to the (very) local park with friends rather than arranged play dates. She likes the switch and the Xbox (she has an older brother) chatting forever with friends on FaceTime, arts and crafts, the trampoline and more recently faffing about with bits of make up/moisturiser/body butter and the like. She's pretty fabulous to be honest!

Gymmum82 · 29/05/2023 22:31

Roblox
Brownies
Gymnastics
Dance
Barbies
Running

Simianwalk · 29/05/2023 22:32

Main love is football (playing and watching).
Also cycling.
Playing with friends.
Going to cubs.
Animals of all sorts.
Playing with her teddies.
Lego, board games (guess who, card games)
Watching awful TV shows with American girls with high voices
reading lots of books (wimpy kid etc)
Drawing, crafting.

TokyoSushi · 29/05/2023 22:34

It sounds like a lot of our girls would get on very well! Yes to the American TV shows and bloomin Roblox!

Ilovelurchers · 29/05/2023 22:34

Mine at that age liked:

Reading
Films
Switch games
Cooking
Gardening
Walks in the countryside
Pets and animals generally.

Activities were singing lessons and briwnies.

Robbiesraft · 29/05/2023 22:38

Hmm.... surely you could ask what her friends do or ask her friend's parents for ideas?

toomanyleggings · 29/05/2023 22:41

Mine likes football, Karate, and brownies. Others I know like netball, swimming, cricket, dance, gymnastics and drama

Headingforholidays · 29/05/2023 22:44

My DD is just turning 8. She loves reading and crafts, board games & playing in the garden. Activities - swimming lessons, Brownies and gymnastics. She was really into Lego but seems to have gone off that recently. Obsessed with Harry Potter and starting to be interested in clothes and "make up".

gg321 · 29/05/2023 22:47

Thankyou everyone 😘 sorry @Robbiesraft but what is wrong with asking on here?

DinosaurOfFire · 29/05/2023 22:48

Brownies, an art club run by local artists, minecraft, computer games, reading, lego, youtube and playing with barbies/ Rainbow high dolls. These pretty much take up all her non-school hours! I'd say computer games, art and dolls are her main interests.

snooterfloofer · 29/05/2023 22:53

Dd is 9 (10 in December.) She appears as neurotypical but is being assessed for autism.

She is into bike riding, learning guitar and she does performing arts classes. She's really into music and fashion - loves going shopping and putting different looks together. She also LOVES animals and soft toys. She's super creative and enjoys drawing/making stuff, writing and creating animated videos on her iPad.
