Please tell me what your 8/9yo daughters are into?

Exactly as title asks, what are they into? At home, school clubs, out of school hobbies, anything at all that they enjoy doing. My daughter just needs something to ‘get into’ what do your similar aged daughters enjoy doing? Thanks in advance

DD is nearly 9. She does swimming lessons, goes to school choir, has dance and gymnastics club. Likes listening and singing along to music. Loves to play Roblox and watch ridiculous things on YouTube. Also likes to watch baking shows more recently. She likes Harry Potter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Also into makeup and a bit of skincare. She does do some craft and playing with Barbies but not loads. Does like a board game.
Still likes things that are pink. Oh and soft toys, often carries 2 around still.

DD is 9, in Year 4. She likes Harry Potter, loom bands, and is starting to get into age appropriate make up such as flavoured lip glosses and bath bombs etc. She goes to Brownies and a musical theatre dance/drama group, she did swimming lessons until recently but stopped as she’d reached the end of the stages offered at her pool and would have to move to a bigger pool (she can swim well and enjoys going with family for fun swim time). She likes watching Netflix- likes The Worst Witch and I’ve recently allowed her to watch Wednesday with me. She’s desperate to get Roblox as “everyone” at school has it, I’ve been reluctant but I see a few here allow it. She likes listening to music. She half moans about going out for a walk but enjoys it once she’s out, sometimes on scooter and enjoys playing in park with her toddler sister. She doesn’t read as much as I’d like (has tonnes of books) but she does have a Yoto player and likes listening to audio books. She does also play dolls, dressing them up in outfits and doing their hair, loves playing with her soft toys, doing crafts, baking with me (mostly packet mixes!), playing in the garden with her sister- likes her swing.

Also crafts, reading, she cycles at a club, swimming lessons, Cubs, screeching at spiders or when asked to do her maths tutor work (she needs a boost, the tutor is lovely though so at least she likes going!).

Still plays with dollies/pretend. We don't do many playdates sadly as DS has SEN and muscles in, but if she does it's usually trampolining/out somewhere rather than in the house.

Horses!

She rides, collects Schleich horses, plays star stable on iPad/ laptop and watches heartland on repeat. Outside of that she also swims and goes to brownies, also has friends on on repeat and makes copious amounts of jewellery out of clay beads - best £12 I've ever spent. I don't think she's looked at a device since I bought her them. She does like cycling but rarely has the time.

GreenMarigold · 30/05/2023 06:45

DD is almost 9 and likes:

  • PC gaming and Roblox
  • Tennis
  • Brownies
  • Playing with her cat
  • Reading
  • Roleplay games with her younger sister (sometimes)
  • Board games
  • Climbing trees
  • Fantasy and anime genres
  • Learning all the words to songs
  • Being independent - making hot chocolate/breakfast/sandwiches

She is so easy to entertain, she just wants to do everything and learn everything at the moment. She’s great 😍

PhotoDad · 30/05/2023 06:50

9 or 10 was when my DD first got interested in photography, her grandparents bought her a (cheap) proper camera and she loved taking it on walks around local nature reserves. (It became her hobby and then her passion for the next 10 years.)

usernotfound0000 · 30/05/2023 07:16

8 year old DD is into acro and performing arts that she does after school. She also loves drawing and art and has just started a club for that. Also likes riding her bike, roller skating, playing with Lego and barbies, doing crafts and in her down time watching Harry Potter or YouTube.

DD1 (9): musical theatre, choir, football (plays for a team). At home trampoline, writing songs and Roblox/YouTube. At school she usually tries out different clubs each term- it's coding and rounders at the minute.
DD2(8): brownies, football (plays for a team), swimming (mandatory rather than voluntary!) At home reborn dolls, Roblox and cycling/scooting. At school drumming and choir.
