Things only a breastfeeding mom will understand !!

No judgements or guilt trips, just funny things you've noticed/come across, bit of a laugh!

Mine is -
-When your son burps and vomits all over your bust 😂
-Unable to cuddle baby close without them latching onto your mouth, nose, chin, arm, jumper, zip etc haha
-When you have to get your nips out and it's chilly 🥶
-The overwhelming and insatiable hunger you feel ! I can't cope with this, it's worse than pregnancy haha

I feel really sleepy when I'm breastfeeding.
She keeps on unlatching & pulling away to smile at me as-well, which I find just gorgeous!

Alittlesummeroasis · 11/05/2023 23:04

Nip-lash, when they turn away without letting go. Owch.

BiscuitLover3678 · 11/05/2023 23:06

When they start looking around everywhere and constantly expose you. If you breastfeed a toddler and they jump on you and latch on at really odd and uncomfortable angles like over your shoulder.

Oh dear god the hunger. I’ve just polished off half a big bar of chocolate - never eat it normally - and handfuls of crackers and peanut butter and now I’m ready for a pizza with some lasagne on the side. Way way worse than pregnancy.

He’s started doing the thing where they thump your chest with their tiny fists, love it.

I’ve cracked lying down feeding much quicker this time and the nights are lovely and cuddly, if quite milky.

I love breastfeeding.

Oh god yes!

I ate for England when I was feeding DD.

It’s the thirst for me. Water tastes like it’s flowed straight from the river of Jesus.

To be honest I find all these things really annoying rather than funny, maybe I’m a breastfeeding grump…

So sleepy! I've fallen asleep a few times in bed and woke up a couple hours later to find that DS is star fish in the bed, oops!
I've found setting timers helps!

I’m a just enougher and it drives me mad when I get a let down and DS unlatches and starts looking around.. I’m like noooo you’re wasting the milk

Fluffyowl00 · 11/05/2023 23:28

I will always remember when my daughter was about 3 months old going on a walk with the dog. Someone in their infinite wisdom had decided to remove all the benches and replace them with more aesthetically pleasing logs. Cue me trying to breastfeed a sack of potatoes while removing 5 layers of clothing on a log. Needless to say it didn’t work.

so I lay down on a blanket with dog as voluntary backrest. Happy feeding times. And then an excited Labrador came up to join the party. The owner was so mortified but it was so lovely. A lovely sunny day.

My foodie daughter suddenly decided at 15 months that breast milk was boring and self weaned. Now she likes to snuggle into my chest and tweak and pull my nipples to see what they will do. Enjoy this lovely time and eat all the cake!

DragonbornMum · 12/05/2023 10:21

When he got startled by a noise and went SHHLUUUUURRP and turned his head away - or worse, clamped his jaw down!!!

PuttingDownRoots · 12/05/2023 10:31

Post breastfeeding... randomly leaking several months after finishing when you aren't prepared for it.

Ringmaster27 · 12/05/2023 10:35

When your body thinks you have a herd of baby cows to feed rather than a single human baby 🙃🙃
My letdown in the early weeks was powerful enough to fell a bloody horse 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 Babies would unlatch and recurve a fire hose to the face….great fun in public 🤯😂

Waggytail · 12/05/2023 10:40

DS reaching up nonchalantly mid feed and then yanking on my lower lip so hard it's like he's trying to pull it off!

Ending up with a bra full of regurgitated milk.

Him slobbering all over my boob on route to latching on 😂

Porridgeislife · 12/05/2023 10:44

When they learn they can lift your top to get to the boobs. My daughter is 10 months and figuring out sequences, ie. what has to happen to get what she wants.

SallySunrise · 12/05/2023 10:56

DS is 18 months and still feeds a few times a day. His happy little face right before he launches his mouth at my boob. So cute!

I didn't intend to go past 1 but I can't seem to cut him off.

RedRosette2023 · 12/05/2023 10:59

Mine is:-

Being really engorged because you’re still feeding your one year but you’re having a girly weekend away in party central in Europe.

So sitting on the toilet in a busy bar, wearing a jumpsuit (so totally naked waist down) and hand expressing/massaging your boobs because you’re struggling to get anything off without a child to help…

Someone opening the door (too pissed mustn’t have locked it) and their horrified expression on what must look like you just sat on the loo fondling yourself….!

I was like this with my first. I literally drank 2 litres of water overnight. As soon as he went on it was like someone hoovered my throat I was so so thirsty.

Didn’t experience it at all with my second.

When you're feeding in public and they get distracted and swing their head away just as your let down starts and your sat there in with a boob fountain spraying away!! 💦

PinkFizz1 · 12/05/2023 11:59

The hunger. Oh my god the hunger. I thought I was hungry when I was pregnant. But this is like I’ve unlocked a new level of hunger.

Makingamess4212 · 12/05/2023 14:09

Slightly off topic but taking advantage of the open thread.. Did any of you get really bad headaches while breastfeeding? Currently got one now and it's trying to kill me off. Don't think I'm drinking enough water to be fair either

PinkOrangeTulip · 12/05/2023 14:43

Oh, the hunger! My appetite is through the roof. 4 months post partum, I know I’ve put weight on but I’m so hungry all the time!

I find it so funny when ds latches, has a drink, then pulls off to have a little look at me, smiles, then latches back on, repeat 10 times🤣

He has abit of reflux so spits up often, I’m always covered in baby milk, I’ve given up trying to catch it with cloths.

The little sighs he does when he’s getting his fill, it’s so cute
