Nappies and wipes! Curious/lighthearted

FTM and wondering what people's go-to products are? And the reasons?
Do you go for budget or "brand" stuff? Kid has reactions, etc..

I have found sainsurys own make nappies the best for my DS. He peed straight through mamia nappys and asdas are funny size. Pampers are great but expensive!!!
And I'm using mamia aldi wipes, for the cheap cost!

Tesco or Pampers for us. Aldi was just too wide and always leaked even if went down a size - big legs!

bakewellbride · 04/05/2023 22:27

Little lamb cloth nappies 75% of the time
Aldi single use 25% of the time

Cheeky wipes are brilliant! I love them. I have a packet of water wipes in the buggy just in case but they are rarely used and a pack lasts 6 months.

Thursdayschild1 · 04/05/2023 22:29

Cloth nappies & disposable liners. Never understood "pull ups" .

Eco by Naty and Water wipes both with an Amazon subscription. I just love both. If I run out of nappies Lidl and Aldi are brilliant and so affordable.

TheBirdintheCave · 04/05/2023 22:34

Cloth nappies and wipes for 2 years and 4 months here, religiously from birth, we even took them abroad with us twice 😂 My son has potty trained recently and I've sanitised them all and stored them for (hopefully) his sibling when they come along. The wipes are still in use though!

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 04/05/2023 22:37

Another one here using cloth nappies and wipes. I think they are awesome, so much better than disposables.
That said I do always have a pack of water wipes handy for emergency situations.

Pinkplasticbathcup · 04/05/2023 22:13

Yep it was the clean ones that were the problem. Alright I’ll give that a bash, thankyou!

And @Quoronation, yep I got there on my own, thanks. Bag free zone here!

Yes sorry that was more for anyone else reading who didn't know that

Milkand2sugarsplease · 04/05/2023 22:41

I'm a nappy tart and will grab them from whichever shop I happen to be in.

Wipes however, cheeky wipes all the way. Last forever. Clean better than sposies, i'm sticking the wash on anyway so might as well wash wipes too.
DS1 had reusable nappies but I'd sold them all years before ds2 surprised us and knew there'd be no more after him so didn't want to re-invest in fluffies.

Sleepingbeauty2510 · 04/05/2023 22:44

I try to be eco friendly where possible. Use a combination of reusable nappies and the more eco-friendly disposables. I like kit and kin and pampers harmonie. Wipes I use waterwipes as they really are the only ones without lots of ingredients in. And washable cheeky wipes for poos (clean up much better).
The ecofriendly options are very expensive so only buy them when on a deal. But they are so much better. Baby has had barely any signs of rashes and not a single poonami.

jannier · 04/05/2023 22:48

Costco wipes are brilliant actual full size wipes that come out single no clumping or fighting the pack....which had 100 in

Morrisons, sainsburys, Asda for nappies. Used Tesco when newborn. Still beat myself up daily about not using cloth 😔

Lidls water wipes are amazing and biodegradable and Aldi almost as good. @SockQueen I just couldn’t get on with the cheeky wipes!! I found they just smelt bad in the pot really quickly!! Have you got any advice?

I just kept them dry and got them wet when I needed them… it’s not like you are changing a nappy miles away from a sink (on the very infrequent times I did an alfresco nappy change, I just poured water from a bottle onto them).

Careerdilemma · 05/05/2023 08:34

Another vote for reusable nappies and wipes. Loved them. Never had a poonami or leak and I think it made it easier to potty train early.

I also just used to wet the Cheeky Wipes as needed rather than storing them wet.

DidyouNO · 05/05/2023 09:27

Our highly complex but very active 4yr old foster son is in size 4nappies (he's tiny, with little muscle tone and a new walker) and we just go with Asda or Aldi. They never leak and are nice and thin to not inhibit movement.

Just touching on something @Heidi1978 said about the wipes packets ..

I bought these, they are a game changer! Now all wipes stay wet and have an actual open and close lid

Check this out! amzn.eu/d/0o3p4OH

Oh they look cool 😎

I had considered reusable and did so much research. Bought thought I would wait to get passed the newborns stage. Turns out My baby has soooooo many food intolerances that I just wouldn’t have enough reusables for even one day most of the time and would be constantly washing :/
also we checked with the nursery in the early days and they won’t use that so we gave up on the idea eventually. Maybe too easily. The thought of managing it all became too overwhelming for me.
I try to help the planet in other ways while trying to look after my sanity… but hats off to people who manage it! Do kind of wish I’d managed to use them though

EdithGrantham · 05/05/2023 10:12

Reusable wipes (The Nappy Lady ones are better than Cheeky Wipes imo) and mixture of TotsBots all-in-one reusables and pocket nappies. If we're away I use disposable and just use Aldi nappies and wipes which are ok but find the nappies smell really chemically and with the wipes in always worried about my finger going through!

Lcb123 · 05/05/2023 10:31

Cheeky wipes are great, works out cheaper over time and saving so much waste. their period pants are great to.

crackersforcheese · 05/05/2023 11:14

Always used Lidl nappies and wipes as they were the only ones my little boy didn't leak through. Then when he got to size 5 they weren't working for us anymore so switch to asdas little angels and they work really well x

We use Pampers nappies and Huggies or Johnson's wipes. Liked Asda and Mamia in the smallest sizes but then they leaked like crazy when we got out of the newborn sizes so Pampers it is.

lochmaree · 05/05/2023 22:18

reusable wipes are hands down best wipes.

we also use reusable nappies, no poo leaks with newborn, got into a good wash routine. even had 2 in cloth for 6 months 🤣

Pollywoddles · 05/05/2023 23:08

We swore by Aldi Mamia up to size 3 but after that they just didn’t suit. She’s in Pampers size 4 now because they’re pull ups and they’ve reduced her daily poonamis down to 1 a week. Once she moves to size 5 we’ll have more choice of brands.

We can’t use wipes with her, gives her rashes so it’s cotton pads and water for cleaning.

MamaSoph73 · 05/05/2023 23:44

We love Pampers- myself and DH are tall so have had tall and thin kids and they seem to work the best. I normally wait till a supermarket has them on offer and stock up.

AudreyJL · 06/05/2023 10:21
