If your baby moved a lot in the womb, what are they like now?

Just curious really as I’m 26 weeks pregnant and the baby moves a LOT so I wondered if their movement in the womb correlates to when they’re babies / toddlers?

My little boy moved ALOT in my tummy. Even though I had the placenta at the front where you are not suppose to feel there movements as much but still I felt him a lot. He’s nearly 3 now and full of energy lol. Even when was around 6-7 months he would move so much on the playmat and even now always running around. 😅

I'm really interested in this too! My DD (now 6) was pretty mellow in the womb with periods of high intensity and is exactly the same now! She also always slept at night in utero (or at least I never felt much movement after 11) and was the same as a newborn. Fascinating.

My 3 yo was forever kicking whilst in uterus, and now there's nothing she loves more than kicking a ball around

DD was most active when I was in the bath, and loves to swim now. Also a great night sleeper - inside and out.

My twins were extremely active in the womb - I needed frequent ultrasounds as they were high risk, and every consultant remarked on how lively they were and how difficult it made the scans! They are 3 now and they do not stop. Ever. I know that young children are known for having lots of energy, but these kids are something else. Good luck 😂

My boy was a proper little wriggler while I was pregnant, didn’t ever stop and it was so forceful 🤣 people quite often commented that they could see my belly moving, which was a bit strange! He’s now 18 months and still the same, doesn’t ever stop moving, he’s such a busy little bee.

This is the same as me re the placenta!!

All of these are really interesting! She also sleeps a lot at night from what I gather so fingers crossed for that one carrying through to her being here 😂

My third was very very active in the womb but she’s a very placid wee baby. At the moment at least haha. I would have bet money she would have been my least chilled but she’s probably the most mellow of the three 😂

I am not who you asked for, but my experience corroborates the theories. My DD was quiet. She had no pattern, nothing in particular got her moving. And she is 2.5 now and everything is on her time not your time, and I'd say she's pretty good at sitting still and paying attention to one thing, not on the go with excessive energy like most toddlers!

We called him "the Energiser bunny baby" after he was born. He would go and go and go and go until he passed out. He's still high energy and highly strung.

Literally every scan I had (and I had many because I was participating in a research study) I would get a comment on what an active baby I had.

Dc1 was very active in the inside from the very beginning. I had a scan at 9 weeks and he was already bouncing around. He was a very lively baby/toddler and I had to have eyes in the back of my head with him. He is a teenager who loves his bed now though!

The baby that moved a lot walked at 9 months and doesn’t ever stop ever. The one that moved once a day didn’t roll over until 10 months and is chilled out.

My son, 8 weeks, slept a whole lot in the womb and only moved when I was hungry. He's a great sleeper and greedy so it adds up lol

Haha, funny enough he would sleep at night aswell I would get worried and move him around to make sure he’s okay 😅. Even now unless he’s not well or teething he did and still does sleep good through the night so fingers crossed for you. x

DS once kicked a coffee cup off my bump when in utero. It was like having someone trapped in a sleeping bag internally. He was a very alert, unsleeping, high-needs baby, and is now a ten year old who alternates between frenetic energy and Xbox-bound sloth.

In the womb and was a child who liked ro sit in an arm chair and read for hours.

Both of mine moved a lot but my first ridiculously so. Luckily she wasn't that big so it wasn't as uncomfortable as my second's movements when he was so big.

Both very different personalities. Eldest, the ridiculous mover, didn't replicate this once born! Bum shuffled at 11 months, walked at 16 months. Is now 4.5 and wouldn't consider her that active a child. She does enjoy things like swimming and soft play but is not shaping up to be sporty so far and does less physical activities than some of her friends who are more into that sort of thing. She'd rather sit and craft than go to dance class for example. And she can't figure out pedals yet. Very intense child though, sensitive, 'high needs baby' and all that. Hard work tbh as lovely as she is.

dc 2 moved so much it looked as though they were trying to claw their way out of my womb. At 10, that child is very active and athletic and very strong. Never sits still. Does not have adhd though, unlike their elder sibling who would sometimes go so still for so long I'd prod my tummy to make sure they were still there.

Mine was front facing i think, so i felt every kick. He was a vey active baby/toddler and child. Loved the baby bouncer, skipped crawling and walked quite early, loved bikes and skateboards etc. Eventually slowed down at about age 17 and is now a very laid back adult. No idea if activity in utero 'predicted' his future behaviour or if it just happened to be his position at the time that made me feel everything.

Mine was an absolute fidget and still is at 9… Im still being kicked and poked on a regular basis!

DD didn't move that much & is quiet & was an easy baby who would sit still & do puzzles & colouring.

DS moved loads & it was hard to sleep. I was exhausted. He was then a very active baby & toddler. He would be on the go all day.

Same with DS. No pattern and frequently didn’t feel any movement for ages. I was worried a lot of the time (his older sister was a constant wriggler) and remember drinking lots of ice cold glasses of water to get him moving which rarely worked. He was a very laid back baby, slept a lot and sometimes we had to wake him up to feed him. He is now a pretty chilled 7 year old. Definitely has moments of high energy but, unlike his sister, he can happily sit quietly in his room completely absorbed in a jigsaw puzzle or word search for over an hour at a time requiring no interaction with me.

My 2nd son was a big wriggler and was the same when he was born , always on the go and walked at 10 months
