Hi, I've had M.E for the last 8 years and have good bits and bad bits with it.
I am resitting a module that I didn't manage to complete last year due to ill health and I'm nearly through it this year but my symptoms have kicked off again.

My ds is 4 and a gem.

i just wondered if there was anyone in a similar position..

Sam

MB thats what I'm trying to do atm. I ignored it all until it was too late last time. I'm trying to behave but I do put too high a demand on myself. I'm feeling better at the end of this week having not pushed myself too far.
I can undersatnd accounting being dull.

Juliet, it sounds like you have loads to juggle atm, where abouts are you?

I'm in Derby but planning on moving next september. I've got to find my son a school that can support him. He wants to be a philosopher. I didn't even know what the word was when I was 8. I'm tempted to beg for a place at Kings college school in wimbledon, they offer financial help, which is a necessity at the moment. I don't think his current school knows the best way to manage him so I don't know whether to finish the course and cut and run in september. Too many decisions.
have you heard of the study saying chocolate can help me sufferers?

New names for you ladies

Children's book/tv characters you fondly remember from your childhood?

Random objects that are in your line of sight as you type?

Childhood nickname?

First pet?

give me some random letters and I'll see what words they make?

Used to love willow the wisp, evil edna , she was cool! I didn't read any books as my parents never had any and they wouldn't take me to th library. I only started reading when I was in secondary school, I had to have something to do while the rest of the class were messing around. I quite liked charles dickins, now I'm reading plato. Random objects, the ironing I can't be bothered to do, a darth vader egg cup and a school prospectus. I didn't have any pets but my brother had a rabbit called Magic.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 08/02/2008 19:59

ok, so

Eggcup

EvilEdna

W...T...W (choose any 3 words that begin with those letters then change them whenever you feel like it)

I have had ME since 1995, although I wasnt diagnosed til 1997. I have a ds aged 4 and am expecting again.

I am doing a part time degree with the OU and loving it, but am finding it it very hard at the moment because of the pregnancy symptoms - I am only 7 weeks so feeling pretty rough at the mo.

Over the years I have learnt (eventually!) that if I get ill I just need to rest. If I dont I get very ill indeed and take weeks to recover which isnt pleasant.

Good luck and keep in touch!

juliet123 · 08/02/2008 20:14

I quite like evil edna but she was a bit of a sadistic bitch, not at all like me (?) What about avenanap? Summs my life up in one word.
Hi becaroo. I hope youre feeling better soon. It must be hard with a 4 year old and expecting and feeling tired. I briefly remember what it was like to be pregnant, you should start to feel better soon. Chocolate apparently makes you feel better.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 08/02/2008 20:16

go for it Juliet!
I expect to see your name changed next time you post

avenanap · 08/02/2008 20:37
Grin
PillockOfTheCommunity · 08/02/2008 20:39

woohoo

now we just need meandthomas to choose one!

meandthomas · 11/02/2008 08:18

Hi everyone,
Hi Becaroo, I'm beginning to think that I should do my degree part time. Unfortunately my tutors dont 'do' my course part time. I've got 1 year and 1 module to go.
What course are you doing?

I spent Friday night and Saturday at my Mums which was nice. She made me pancakes for breakfast lol
Sunday was shopping day. It really proved to me that although I was feeling brighter, my body wasn't quite ready yet. All I did was wash my hair and do a small trolley grocery shop. I was taken there and back too!! GRR! Stupid body!
Ds is on 1/2 term this week so we're spending today together( putting off speaking to my more difficult tutor who works today)

Sparkley fish
cangetbetter
aintbeaten.

Are you feeling a bit better today?

Coro · 11/02/2008 15:22

Hi havinanap. I thought I'd try out Coro for a while and see how it feels
I like sparklyfish. It reminds me of Rainbow fish.

I'm not feeling too bad thanks, frustrated mainly. I have 2 weeks till my deadline and atm I need to rest and I'm worried about missing my deadline.
I'm going into uni tomorrow to see if I can come to some sort of arrangement.

Ds and I went to get some new play sand for his sandpit this morning, the lid blew off a few weeks ago and it got wet and mucky. It looks like he'll be out there all afternoon

How are you?

Coro · 11/02/2008 15:23

sorry about the mis spelling of your name!
avenanap. I'll get there!

avenanap · 11/02/2008 15:31

Oh, don't worry. kid's on half term. He's coming to uni with me tomorrow, that'll be nice for the lecturer . I fell asleep on the sofa this morning so I feel great now. Have a bit of a dodgy belly though. I still have not done any work yet though and my house is very close to needing a visit from environmental health.

Chocolate. We should eat lots and lots of chocolate.

Re Uni, go and beg. I find crying works very well. Or faking severe stress. I don't recommend sitting in their office and rocking backwards and forwards whilst humming, I know a girl that did this once, they forced her to take time off.

Coro · 11/02/2008 17:18

Lol
I'm not allowed to take DS into uni. It's against health and safety! ( and he un nerves my stroppy tutor)

I thought about work this morning.. That almost counts doesn't it.

This afternoon I've rested. My friend came over and helped ds empty and refill his sandpit, which the pair of them have been happy playing in while I snooze. My friend is now chivying ds to clear the floor to hoover! He never does it for me

re uni - lol. Oops, taking things a bit too far perhaps.
I could take the time off in an instant ( doc already thinks I overdo it) but all I want to do is complete this module.
I'm not sure I'm wired properly, I hurt- lots and one of my main concerns is completing my uni module.

avenanap · 11/02/2008 17:23

Wired? Where do you hurt?

Coro · 11/02/2008 17:25

Programmed
Everywhere! Mainly my limbs, but it feels like someone is sitting on my chest and it hurts when I move my head.

avenanap · 11/02/2008 17:28

Ohh, that's not good. I get joints and something that mimics gall stones and pancreatitis. Is it muscular or more of a boney pain?

Coro · 11/02/2008 17:32

The best way to describe it is that it feels like my muscles are breaking my bones

How are you feeling?

I'm supposed to be going out for my brothers birthday this evening....

avenanap · 11/02/2008 17:39

I'm ok. The pain isn't too bad since I had some antibiotics off my dentist () but is not more condensed, hurts for shorter but more severe. The nap I had this morning helped, I need to get out of the routine though and get studying. Have you tried asking your gp for an antispasmodic (mebeverine). they give this to people with ibs, it calms the muscles down, maybe they are in spasm which is why you are in pain. You can but this over the counter at the pharmacy. Have some chocolate and go out and have some fun. You can control your me, don't let it control you.

Coro · 11/02/2008 17:57

I'm glad soemthing is helping. I find putting work into managable 1 hour slots helps, and factoring in naps around it means you dont lose out on much needed rest.

My doctor doesn't want to give me any tablets. I agree to a certain extent. He said that if i wasn't in pain then I wouldn't stop which I need to do. It's frustrating how well he knows me. But at the same time I wish I could make it go away just until I've submitted work for uni.

I cant eat chocolate - it gives me migraines! Has done since I was a child.

I'm hoping that the specialist can help me get it under control. I used to be ok with it until I was really bad last year. It's just a waiting game to see the specialist now..

avenanap · 11/02/2008 18:58

He's referring you? that's really good. mine set me to gastroenterology ??? I keep going back to gp with different symptoms and all he says is well, i've done some tests and they are all clear. he thinks i'm a hypochondriac. had bleeding rashes under my skin, all he could say was I dont know. blood tests were ok. I found a web site giving info from a doctor at kings college london about post viral fatigue syndrome, symptoms were digestive problems, joint pain, fatigue, abdominal pain, recurrent thrush, head fog. I have all these.
Shame about the chocolate. One of Joes teachers had this problem, I brought her organic and she was fine. Maybe you should try green and blacks, has less chemicals in it. Maybee you could try the medication until you've done your coursework.

Coro · 12/02/2008 07:31

I've had it for 8 years without a referal.
Change doctors! My new doctor since I moved has been much more understanding.
It's horrible being told there is nothing wrong when there so evidently is.

I'll pick up some Green and blacks on the way home today I think I'll definitely deserve it after the morning I'm about to have

Thomas has been up a lot of the night with a cough and I'm going to see my tutor today.
I hate having to constantly fight my corner all the time. They doubt that I'm serious about the course.
