3 month old swallowed a teeny bit of chocolate?!

I’m so mad right now. DH was eating chocolate (Galaxy ripple to be exact), he was playing with 3 month old DS at the same time and he put the chocolate near his lips as a joke. The flaky part of the chocolate fell into DS’s mouth only a tiny bit and he swallowed it and definitely enjoyed it. He’s smiling and is still licking his lips and me and DH are worried now. DH did this only as a joke and didn’t know DS would open his whole mouth. I can’t help but be mad at DH. How bad is this? Sorry if it’s a stupid post!

I don't understand?

WindowsSmindows · 31/01/2023 22:58

First born child I suppose that could explain it?

Pinkbananas01 · 31/01/2023 22:58

Oops he'll be fine, in the past babies were being weaned by 4 months & survived.

What are you actually worried about? I don’t understand.

If you think any harm will come to the child from a tiny bit of flaky chocolate, then don’t be.

I had had whiskey on a dummy by that age

Dammitthisisshit · 31/01/2023 22:59

It’s fine. A tiny bit won’t do any harm.

AndyWarholsPiehole · 31/01/2023 22:59

You baby will turn into a bar of chocolate now. Sad

dreamerkr · 31/01/2023 23:00

I wasn’t worried about the actual chocolate but more that DS would somehow choke? But it obviously must have melted and he’s completely fine. He enjoyed it as well and is licking his lips smiling. Sorry for such a dumb post!

It's a tiny bit, no harm done.

GideonSmideon · 31/01/2023 23:00

He'll be crawling before you know it and putting all sorts In his mouth. A teeny piece of chocolate is not going to do any harm. PFB?

anotherNameJustForThis · 31/01/2023 23:00

What is it that you are worried about? That it'll be dangerous for DS or that he's developed a taste for it and won't eat/drink anything else? Something else?

It won't do either but if there's something else that I'm not getting...??

dreamerkr · 31/01/2023 23:01

Thanks guys! FTM as you all can see.

My dm was sneaking tastes of things like chocolate to my kids from god knows how early, and started weaning her own kids at 6 weeks as was the norm then. We’re all fine. Nothing to worry about.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 31/01/2023 23:01

In the gentlest way, is this your first baby?

What are you thinking a bit of chocolate is going to do? He's fine, probably just hoping for some more.

When I was that age my brother was caught feeding me bird seed, not as delicious as chocolate unfortunately.

Notjusta · 31/01/2023 23:02

Aww he'll be completely fine don't worry! 🙂 Bet he was delighted with his tiny taste of chocolate!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 31/01/2023 23:07

Bless you I remember those PFB days 😊 as pp's say your DS will be fine.

Just wait till he starts eating soil, the cat/dog food, lipstick, soap, licking the cat/dog & trying to eat the solid contents of his nappy that he's just managed to whip off 😂

devildeepbluesea · 31/01/2023 23:09

🤣🤣 fair play to you OP for recognising you were being a bit nuts there!

ShippingNews · 31/01/2023 23:09

At that age I found my DH feeding DD ravioli. No harm done and at 30 she still loves it.

My husband gave our baby some banana at 3 months even though he knew we were waiting to wean at 6 months. At the time I was furious (which seems like a huge overreaction now) as I was worried about choking and it having an affect on my sons bowels Confused I think it's so hard when it's your first to know what is ok but i'm sure your little one will be just fine Grin

LakeTiticaca · 31/01/2023 23:14

Baby won't choke. He'll be fine albeit a chocoholic 🤣🤣

Sugarfree23 · 31/01/2023 23:15

Op chill, write this one down on FB or somewhere that will pop up on memories. Because in a few months you'll howl 🤣😂🤣 absolutely howl at stressing out over a flake of chocolate 🍫 😋 and in a year or 2 you'll have forgotten all about it.

mrsfollowill · 31/01/2023 23:20

MIL shovelled a teaspoon of chocolate ice cream down DS at 10 weeks old! I was gutted at the time as he was my PFB and it was his first taste of proper food. He didn't half like it though Grin. He is 20 now and still loves the ice cream- we both have a bit of a sweet tooth to be fair!

Remaker · 31/01/2023 23:21

When I had DC1 one of the midwives at the hospital told me how she had brought her 4th baby home from hospital and put the baby carrier down on the floor briefly while she fetched something from another room. When she returned she found the baby making a weird sucking noise and put her finger in his mouth to find an M&M stuck to the roof of his mouth! She looked at her 2 year old who smiled and said ‘sharing!’

No harm done OP!

SunsetStrip · 31/01/2023 23:26

Everyone needs a PFB story to make them laugh in later years. You'll laugh when he's chewing on the pushchair tyres in 6m time, lol

Survey99 · 31/01/2023 23:29

My ds was weaned at 3 months (the guidelines at the time), think yours will be OK 👍🏼

BreviloquentBastard · 31/01/2023 23:33

Dogs. Chocolate is harmful to dogs. As you presumably have a human child, I think you'll be fine.
