Your best bottom creams please!

I don't like the thick, horrible zinc creams, we don't have a rash problem but I like a little something to keep him all soft and to soothe, especially in the morning.

I adore Waitrose bottom butter, cheap and free from any nasties (yes I can be anal about that) but my Waitrose has stopped stocking it and is closing soon anyway and I'm not going to get Ocado do deliver a year's supply.

So what do you use? Burt's bees skin cream is lush but way too expensive. Not keen on Neal's yard that we currently have and is also expensive.

We use Weleda Calendula nappy Cream and it's fab - we've never had any problems with nappy rash with 2 DSs. it was recommended by my cousin, who used it for both her dds and they used reusables (we don't ) so pretty good stuff and not full of nasties. It costs about a fiver for a tube though...

better than burts bees at £13!

Waitrose should take over the world, the stuff is wonderful and under £2 a tub.

I liberal application of vaseline to DSs bottom at change time stops any chafing or rash with a wet nappy.

Denny185 · 05/02/2008 11:36

Not a nappy cream but work wonders on nappy rash and prevention - camilosan nipple cream - gets used for all rashes etc in our house. Otherwise some baby oil will work as barrier - cheap and cheerful.

Indith · 05/02/2008 11:42

Kamilosan is ace isn't it, tis what I've used when we have had a spot of nappy rash.

Metanium. It's the only one.

2sugars · 05/02/2008 11:45

Oooh, sorry, you don't like zinc creams.

Indith · 05/02/2008 11:48

Tis ok anyway, the frightfully clever people on here have reminded me that John Lewis will sell the wonderful Waitrose stuff

I love the Neal's Yard ones!

Here

jeanybeeny · 05/02/2008 11:50

Just to add that vaseline is petroleum jelly, with no fancy additives, and is excellent at waterproofing bottoms!

lillypie · 05/02/2008 12:02

I like Beautiful Bottom Balm by Mother Goose at Superdrug. [[http://www.superdrug.com/bin/venda?ex=co_wizr-locayta&template=wz_locayta&pageno=1&perpage=10 here]
Search Mother Goose

lillypie · 05/02/2008 12:03

I'll try again here

katwith3kittens · 08/02/2008 14:52

Waitrose is closing down.... oh no ! ...why ?

Theres one in Hexham (well unless thats closing too )if thats any nearer than Newcastle ?

Anyway, back to the OP, has anyone tried that Beopharm or however its spellt ?

floozie · 08/02/2008 15:01

i love the waitrose one too and was really annoyed when they suddenly stoppped doing it. Was in there yesterday and they had restocked - nearly wet myself in excitemnet and brought loads - just in case - how sad. I also use, and like, the Green baby nappy cream (green glass jar with pink lid) or even their petroleum free jelly is good as a barrier. Luckily, my DS doesnt suffer rash either but it's nice to just keep their bums moisturised!

Indith · 08/02/2008 17:21

Has been running at a loss since they bought it from Morrisons Kat. I'm gutted (does that make me sad?). The bringer of news that was last weeks Durham advertiser said they were going to try to bring in another supermarket but they may split it into 2 units.

Earth friendly baby calendula daily care cream is really nice. Or just buy some organic unrefined shea butter.

MrsBadger · 08/02/2008 17:36

I use a solid handcream MIL bought me on a honey farm Italy, which is just beeswax, olive oil and a tiny bit of royal jelly (if my italian serves) and it is lovely.

Apparently you can make it by melting beeswax into olive oil in a ratio of 3:4 (ie 3oz beeswax into 4floz oil) - I'll be trying it when this pot runs out!

DaDaDa · 08/02/2008 17:45

We use Metanium but only for really bad rash.

Indith, just clicked your profile to see where in Durham you are, and misread your DS's name as Witton Gilbert I thought 'blimey, she is proud of the area'.

Waitrose always seemed a bit out of place in the Milburgate Centre.

Another vote for Weleda Calendula Creme.
