Lots of schools use them in lessons now in place of laptops .

How old OP?

I think by secondary they do need phones. Homework is set on teams in our high school accessed via Glo. They also take photos of assignments in class to reduce paper usage.

Iphones are popular. DS 12 has an iphone sr free with a 20 quid contract with unlimited data. I have an iphone 11 which was £99 on the same contract. Our wifi is sketchy at home, he uses his sim in a mobiile broadband unit so he doesn't steal all my bandwidth.

We've always had iPhones. Went to the dark dude with a Samsung but went back to iPhones as soon as I could!
My dd has an iPhone 11, I've got a 12 and my son has an X. One feature I like is share location which is really helpful as my daughter is at school in central London and it's an hour journey so I can check she's arrived ok.
