for potty trained children natch

if they have not been painting insanely/ running around in mud etc

if they are doing civilised indoor pursuits such as web surfing and jigsaws

SnappyLaGore · 30/01/2008 18:16

kindersurprise · 30/01/2008 18:19

Once or twice a week. More often when my Mum is here.

It is not good for their skin to bath them every night.

once a week is about as often as I can be arsed to go through the whole 3 hour's pleading, whining, bribing, shouting, threatening and hide and seek which precedes bathtime in this house. They are boys....

Sometimes, we take 'em swimming as for some reason, they like showers at swimming.

They do wash in-between times. Sometimes...

georgedontdothat · 30/01/2008 18:25

Every other night weekdays ,and unless truly dirty no bath Friday and Saturday

LardyMardyDaisy · 30/01/2008 18:30

ermm......when I remember ......so about once a week. If I don't get round to it just after swimming on Saturdays. In my defence.....he had very bad eczema as a baby and we were told once a week was fine and haven't quite got out of the habit. Tends to be more frequent in the holidays though as he is a right old muck magnet and loves digging in the garden.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 30/01/2008 18:31

Every other day

SnappyLaGore · 30/01/2008 18:34

to be fair, ladies, the only reason (probably) that mione all go happily into their bath is they all go together (so they can play), i leave em in for ages (coz im usually mning prepping their room/pjs/night drinks etc), they have lots of toys in there... and we have a tanked bathroom with this bath in, so they can treat it like a water park

ok, so thats several reasons, but they all kinda hang on that bath.

(and dont worry, ethical folks; we have solar power for hot water, our own spring, and a grey water system so the waste waters the veg garden.ok, so the last two were a lie, but the solar is real )

somersetmum · 30/01/2008 18:35

ok, so I'm in the minority...but my two still bathe every night (nearly 5 and nearly 10).

fullmoonfiend · 30/01/2008 18:37

at snappy. Your bath is bigger than my bathroom...

viggoswife · 30/01/2008 18:39

This is comforting. I do actually bath DC every night. I wash DD hair (17 months) every night also and wash DS (5) every other night but having read this thread I may consider cutting down. When I was growing up we were allowed a bath once a week on a Sunday and this went on till I was about 15. My hair would be so greasy by the Friday. This has probably made me abit obsessive about baths for DC. I am not great on the housework front though .

viggoswife · 30/01/2008 18:40

DS hair every other night that is. The rest of him is washed every day.

FrannyandZooey · 30/01/2008 18:41

I aim for every other day

manage twice a week. Usually

SnappyLaGore · 30/01/2008 18:49

sorry fmf... if it helps, that bath takes up about half of that room...

ladette · 30/01/2008 20:01

I am an idle slattern. (you should see our house!) .. however, our DCs were bathed everynight. Nothing to do with hygiene, more a wind down to bedtime and good way of getting very active children to chill and relax, and go to sleep sooner. Small investment for an earlier bedtime. But if your DCs don't have a problem going to bed , a quick wash if not muddy/painty/toilet accidents etc would be fine.

CaptainCod · 30/01/2008 20:01

2/3

Maidamess · 30/01/2008 20:03

I bath my boys every night.

And if you saw the state of their
undercrackers, you would too.

I love you all (and am going to show this thread to DH who seems to be labouring under the illusion that baths should be daily)

madrose · 30/01/2008 21:23

2/3 X a week - do wash face and hands daily, have been known to go for a week.

Sometimes having a cuddle on the sofa is more important than sqeezing a bath in.

she's nearly 3

have even been known to get food out of long hair with a wipe

ChasingSquirrels · 30/01/2008 21:24

Nearly every night (if we go to my mum's for tea and are late back I don't, but that is once a week maybe).
They both love it, ds2 (2y) is tired by then but if I put him to bed he would be up even earlier in the morning - so 15/30 mins in the bath keeps him happy that bit longer. ds1 (5y) is happy in there aswell.

Shitemum · 30/01/2008 21:29

In the winter, once a week on Saturday morning, hair wash too.
Wash face, hands and bum with flannel other nights.
In summer a quick bath every night to get the sweat off.

SenoraPancake · 30/01/2008 21:43

oh god, yes, I forgot about Spanish heating! once a week or less in winter. and baths consisted of a quick splash and out.

SnappyLaGore · 30/01/2008 21:51

pmsl @ undercrackers

i fkin love that word!

IdrisTheDragon · 30/01/2008 22:01

DS about once a week. Ish. He is 4.2

DD seems to have a bath more often. She is 2.4.
