Ds is very into Julia Donaldson's books and he seems to have his favourite on rotation. There are some I flipping hate reading over and over - some or just too repetitive but he seems to love those! The Smartest Giant is not one I enjoy... I do like Monkey Puzzle though. What are your favourites/least favourites?

Jack and the Flum Flum Tree! My class adores this each year and they are 8-9 years old.

We also love the Gruffalo and Room on the Broom. Monkey Puzzle also a favourite!

Queensize · 25/07/2022 19:34

@MrsAlbertaWhisker I haven't heard of Jack and the flum flum tree! The gruffalo never gets old. We also like Charlie Cook's Favourite Book.

I love them all, I particularly enjoy The scarecrow's wedding and Tiddler. Also love what the ladybird heard.

I only like Squash and a Squeeze and the Gruffolo.

I don't mind Snail and the Whale.

I can't stand the Giant one or Stick Man.

Hotenoughtoburnasausage · 25/07/2022 19:39

Tabby McTat. Love it.
Not fussed about The Gruffalo.
Bloody love Room On The Broom.

CornishGem1975 · 25/07/2022 19:39

Fav is Charlie Cook's Favourite Book. Controversially not keen on Zog.

MrsAlbertaWhisker · 25/07/2022 19:39

Flum Flum Tree is a joy to read aloud. Absolutely one of my favourites. There’s another one I quite like which I discovered last year. Something about a fish that tells porkie pies why he’s late for school then one day something really does happen to make him late and the teacher doesn’t believe him. I want to say Tiddler?

CornishGem1975 · 25/07/2022 19:40

Oh Tabby McTat YES!

lickenchugget · 25/07/2022 19:40

Tiddler was always the favourite in our house

Tiddler?! Tiddler?! TIDDLER’S LATE!!!

MaChienEstUnDick · 25/07/2022 19:40

Yes that's Tiddler @MrsAlbertaWhisker

Tabby McTat makes me cry!

OlympicOwl · 25/07/2022 19:40

Recently I've read The Smeds and The Smoos and also The Teeny Weeny Genie a lot, and loved them both.

RoyKent · 25/07/2022 19:41

Tiddler, Charlie Cook, Super Worm and Dot the Hospital Dog are current faves.

Ihaveoflate · 25/07/2022 19:43

We conveniently 'lost' scarecrow's wedding - it's terrible. I'm also not a fan of smartest giant.

My faves are highway rat, tabby mctat and room on the broom.

RightOnTheEdge · 25/07/2022 19:43

My favourites are The Gruffalo, The Snail and the Whale, Monkey Puzzle and Night Monkey Day Monkey and Room on the Broom.

I nearly forgot The Scarecrows Wedding! I love that one!

Yucca78 · 25/07/2022 19:43

My dd LOVED Rosie hat!

RightOnTheEdge · 25/07/2022 19:43

And Sharing a Shell! I should have just said them all 😂

Ididanamechange · 25/07/2022 19:44

I love snail and the whale. I was pregnant with my second when I first read it to ds and welled up a bit at the end 😅
I also like the everywhere bear, monkey puzzle and Zog. Not keen on the highway rat or Charlie Cook though

Rowanberri · 25/07/2022 19:44

Have you found Cave Baby? It’s one of our favourites. It’s illustrated by the wonderful Emily Gravett which makes a welcome change from Axel Scheffler.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 25/07/2022 19:45

Julia has written over 200 books. Charlie Cook is current favourite in our house.

bloodyunicorns · 25/07/2022 19:45

I like them all. The snail and the whale is fab.

lorisparkle · 25/07/2022 19:45

I love The Princess and the wizard, room on a broom, stick man, a squash and a squeeze and tiddler.

Not so keen on superworm, monkey puzzle, Charlie cooks favourite book.

MarshaBradyo · 25/07/2022 19:46

A Squash and a Squeeze is a better read

and Tabby McTat

Boating123 · 25/07/2022 19:47

The singing mermaid - but maybe that's because it was the first one we read.

I like the fact she solved her own problem she didn't need to be rescued, though she did have a bit of help from friends.

Sharrowgirl · 25/07/2022 19:47

What the Ladybird Heard. Even I can manage voices for that one!

MumstedInadequate · 25/07/2022 19:49

Tabby McTat makes me cry too, I feel so sad at the thought of that lovely man waking up in hospital alone, then returning to find his cat has gone. I do love the ending too, and the obvious London area.

Also enjoy Tiddler and Room on the Broo.

The rest I can take or leave
