When did your baby start to crawl?

Hi! DD is 8 months and no where near crawling any time soon. I try to persuade her with toys etc however she still does the 'frustrated swimmer' pose.

What age were your babies?

10ish months.

Don't fret.one day she'll just do it.

MichaelBooblay · 24/02/2022 17:17

Almost 12 months. Don’t worry.

00100001 · 24/02/2022 17:18

And she may not even crawl, might go to a bum shuffle or straight to walking.

You'd know by now if there was anything to worry about :)

8 months.
He took me by surprise, showed no interest/signs he just done it one day.

Don't worry there's plenty of time and some go straight to walking.

All good Smile

IvysMum12 · 24/02/2022 17:18

I didn't crawl at all.
Walked at the usual time.

MaizeAmaze · 24/02/2022 17:20

Just let her be. Crawling 8snt a milestone - not all babies do it.
It is also nice to find them where you left them. Both mine crawled crazy early, and DS1 got us kicked out of baby group at 5 months as it was only for those not moving..... Everyone else stayed for months.

CrowFriend · 24/02/2022 17:21

Because some babies don’t crawl at all ( MIL still recalls her surprise that DH just suddenly started walking without any crawling phase) crawling is not a developmental milestone.
So relax and enjoy this bit - your DC will be mobile before you know it!

thebigpurpleone · 24/02/2022 17:22

Stop stressing I know so many babies who skipped it completely.

Heronatemygoldfish · 24/02/2022 17:24

10 months to crawl. 6 weeks later he was walking unaided...

CoodleMoodle · 24/02/2022 17:26

DD didn't crawl, ever. She walked at about 11mo, confidently at 12mo. If she fell down, she couldn't get up on her own and that was the only issue! She was 2yo before she tried to crawl, then she was fine. She's not a very physical child at 8yo, but she's fine.

DS was trying to stand AND crawl from very very early in comparison. Maybe 5mo? Still didn't manage it until nearer 10mo, but walking followed very quickly. He's much more agile than DD at 3.5yo, but still not terribly physical.

Don't worry about it OP, honestly. Your DD will be ahead in other ways, and crawling just hasn't occurred to her yet.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 24/02/2022 17:27

My eldest bum shuffled from around 7 months. She didn't figure out crawling until after she could walk.
Youngest crawled at 5 months.

Both walked at similar times... not long after their first birthdays.

Ironingoutthecreases · 24/02/2022 17:28

Neither of mine did. Bum shuffled then walked. Try not to worry, but I do remember it’s hard when everyone else’s is and that was nearly 20 years ago.

sanityisamyth · 24/02/2022 17:30

8 months. Walking at 10 months. Running at 11 months 🙈🙈🙈

BobGalaxy · 24/02/2022 17:33

DS started rolling everywhere at about 11 months and then started walking a couple of weeks later. Never crawled!

GuidingSpirit · 24/02/2022 17:34

8 months and 1 week. At 7 months and 3 weeks, she was still doing frustrated swimmer. It happened really fast! So fast that babyproofing the lounge is happening this weekend 😳🙈

Justkeeppedaling · 24/02/2022 17:37

DD2 never really crawled. She just got up and walked one day.
Her elder sister came running to me in the other room shouting "Mummy, Pedalling Junior is walking"!

Scabz · 24/02/2022 17:40

12ish months - she was happy just staying put

SatinHeart · 24/02/2022 17:42

DC1, 10 months
DC2, 5 months

As pp have said, some don't do it at all. I know a pcupel that bum shuffled instead.

CMOTDibbler · 24/02/2022 17:43

12 months. He didn't roll around, didn't commando crawl, but was cruising before he crawled. And literally I brought him home from nursery one day, put him on the floor and he whizzed off. I asked nursery if he'd been crawling there and they said no.
But he really only crawled for a few weeks as he was then walking within 8 weeks, and I seem to remember that he'd only crawl to get to something to cruise with.
I never crawled

Smartiepants79 · 24/02/2022 17:44

Never.
Bum shuffled a bit at around 1. Then went to cruising and walking maybe about 14 months.

passionfruitpizza · 24/02/2022 17:52

My first didn't particularly crawl, he rolled around mostly then walked at 18 months.
Second crawled at 3/4 months and walked at 8 months, it was nightmare, he bashed his head and fell over so many times, much easier with my first who was more ready to move.

Lazypuppy · 24/02/2022 17:52

14 months

stuntbubbles · 24/02/2022 17:54

Five months and I never got to sit down and relax again 🤨 Her best friend born the same week never crawled, went straight to walking and walked first. Enjoy the ability to plonk your baby down and they stay there, it’s gold!

17caterpillars1mouse · 24/02/2022 17:55

Dd1 was 4 days before she turned 1 - walked a week before 17 months

Dd2 crawled at 9 months, walked at 15 months

miltonj · 24/02/2022 18:02

Dd commando crawled from about 6 months and then progressed to normal crawling at around 8 or 9 months, so quite an average time. However she's 17 months now and not walking. So I don't think late/early crawling is an indicator of things to come!
