DC is 9 months and has nearly grown out of the nappy sizes

DD is 9 months and is wearing size 7 Pampers Baby Dry. I've just noticed that size 8 is the last size within the Baby Dry range so I wondered what happens when they get too big for the sizes? Do you upgrade to pants/pull up nappies or something? I plan to start potty training when she's around 18 months or slightly before but for now she's way too young to start potty training (or is sheHmm)

I haven't looked around in the supermarkets properly but just thought I'd take it to MN first lol

Does she really need size 7 at 9 months?

That seems quite odd. I don’t think my toddlers go that far.

choosername1234 · 11/02/2022 20:21

How much does she weigh? My daughter is 98th centile at 15 months & is still comfortably in size 5 sainsburys own brand

LittleBearPad · 11/02/2022 20:21

18 months is too young for potty training btw. 2.5 to 3.5 is more typical.

My daughter is 3 and only in a 6?

koalalala · 11/02/2022 20:23

Does she really need a size 7? Seems very odd. I don't mean this in a rude way but is she abnormally large?

My 2 year old is in a size 4...

PinkWaferBiscuit · 11/02/2022 20:23

How can she possibly be in size 7 nappies at 9 months, they are for 15k plus? You're definitely using the wrong size!

SomeOwlsCoo · 11/02/2022 20:23

Are you sure? I don't remember buying anything bigger than a size 4. Possibly 5. Or have nappy sizes changed?

1940s · 11/02/2022 20:23

Unless there's a drip feed about a physical disability there's no way she's grown out of all the other nappy sizes. My 2 year old never even got into size 7

emma1103 · 11/02/2022 20:24

My 3 year old isn't the skinniest and she wears size 7 for bed! X

OwlNoises101 · 11/02/2022 20:24

18 months is not too young for potty training. I trained one DC at 17 months and one at 20 months.

Garman · 11/02/2022 20:24

My son got to the biggest size by about 12 months and then just stayed with that size fitting him until he trained at 3.5 years.

HalloHello · 11/02/2022 20:24

My daughter was in nappies until almost 3 and never went into a size 7!!

mynameiscalypso · 11/02/2022 20:24

I know the weights are just a guide but size 7 is 15kg+. My healthy 75% 2.5 year old doesn't weigh that yet at all.

LittleBearPad · 11/02/2022 20:24

@OwlNoises101

18 months is not too young for potty training. I trained one DC at 17 months and one at 20 months.
It’s unusual though and not worth the hassle
Vebrithien · 11/02/2022 20:24

DS is 20 months, 13 kg (75th centile) and is in size 5 nappies (12-17 kg). They are ample on him.

How big is your baby??

rattlemehearties · 11/02/2022 20:25

Are you sure you're doing them up right? My 5yo was wearing size 6 until recently (finally night trained now) so I think you might be using larger sizes than you need? Sainsbury's is a good brand for bigger kids ime

ItsSnowJokes · 11/02/2022 20:25

I have a giant of a child who was always over 98th centile for height and weight. There is no way a child should be in size 7 at 9 months! My giant was in size 7 at just over 2 years old. I would try a different brand and check that you are fitting them right.

SuperbOwls · 11/02/2022 20:25

Why is she in size 7?! My 8 month old is pretty chunky and has only just grown out of size 3!

00100001 · 11/02/2022 20:26

What makes you think she is a size 7 at such a young age?

How big is your child?

catandbabymama · 11/02/2022 20:26

My DS has just turned 1 and is around 98th centile for weight and miles over the 100th centile line for height and he's only in size 5+, we use Aldi Mamia and have done since birth

Pinkflask · 11/02/2022 20:26

How do they fit? You know the tabs don’t have to meet in the middle right? That probably sounds very patronising but I’ve come across people who did think that and thought that they had to go up a size when the tabs didn’t meet any more…

rattlemehearties · 11/02/2022 20:28

We only used to move up a size when the smaller sizes started leaking. But it took a lot of trial and error to get the right brand for each child (different physique) so try different brands based on the weight of your baby.

Pinkflask · 11/02/2022 20:28

I ask because you can get a pretty sturdy toddler of 3 or so into the biggest nappies usually.

Steelesauce · 11/02/2022 20:28

Eh? My almost 4 year old had nappies at bed until a few weeks ago and fit a 5 or a 6. Shes 2st 3!

HariboBrenshnio · 11/02/2022 20:28

My 6 year old isn't dry at night and wears size 6 or 7 pull ups. I think you might need to go down some sizes!
