How long were you together before you had children?

How many did you have?
What were the age gaps? Are you done yet? Just out of utter nosiness! I'm in my early 30s, have a three year old, not with his dad, want more but all depends on meeting the right person...

First child: I was with him for 4 years when we had a child
Second child, different partner: I was with him for 3 years when we had a child

The children were several years apart, there's a 6.5 year age gap.

@Tullig

20 years.
Same here, I thought 20 years might winWink. DC arrived 2 years apart after we had been together 20 years. Choice not infertility. It's our 29th wedding anniversary this week though we'd been together 17 years when we married.

Together for almost exactly 2 years before ds1 was born.

Got married when he was 15 months.

Had 6 dc.

Dd 1 when ds1 was 3 years and 2 months.
Then 17 month gap to ds2.

4and a half years to ds3

15 months to dd2

6 and a half years to dd3.

Been married 24 years next week.

I met my husband when I was not far off being 19, he was year older. We got engaged, then lived together for a year before we got married, had our 1st son 14 months after that (so altogether a bit over 3 years) and had 2nd son 2 years and 8 months after that. I was almost 25 when he was born - 62 now, and we're still married.

We knew each other a year before we got married (I was 40) and had our first nine months later (41), second 20 months after that (43). I was his second wife, and if I had been younger we may have waited to have kids, but the time between them was as I would have wanted regardless.

We were together 10 years when Dd2 arrived (surprise) 🙉
23 year age gap between my dd's.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 24/01/2022 20:20

Together 15 years when dc1 was born. Dc2 turned up 3 years later. We're done because I turn 45 this year and I have zero interest in discovering if like a large chuck of my Catholic relatives I'm still fertile.

stormelf · 24/01/2022 20:26

Together 8 years before dc1, two years later had dc2 and just under 2 years later now have dc3

Kona84 · 24/01/2022 21:56

We had our first child 3 months ago after 18 years together- no fertility issues just hadn’t found the right time.
Both 37.

We haven’t yet decided if we will have a second.

RevolvingPivot · 24/01/2022 22:22

Met 2007
First child 2010
Second 2012

  • Had reasons to want to fall pregnant quickly (both planned).
Monkeytennis97 · 24/01/2022 22:43

Pineapples9087 · 24/01/2022 23:07

Met dh when I was 22. Married at 27. First dd at 28. Second dd at 31. Dd1 is 3 years old now and dd2 is 3 months old. I doubt we will have anymore kids.

Spooked102 · 27/01/2022 14:39

Met in 2012 first child in 2020

TheScottishPlay · 27/01/2022 14:50

Met at 25 & 33. Engaged after 2 years. Married 2 years after that. DS born 2.5 years later when we were 31 & 39. I always thought I'd have children from my mid thirties but DH really wanted to be a dad before he was 40. Smile
