How long were you together before you had children?

How many did you have?
What were the age gaps? Are you done yet? Just out of utter nosiness! I'm in my early 30s, have a three year old, not with his dad, want more but all depends on meeting the right person...

Together for 16 years before DC1 (aged 35). DC2 arrived 3 years later. Very much two and done.

StampOnTheGround · 24/01/2022 10:07

12 years

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 24/01/2022 10:08

Met October 2012
In a relationship in March 2013
DD1 born January 2014
Married 2018
DD2 September 2020 so a 6.5 year gap. Longer than we planned but it took a year to conceive.

We’ve decided not to have anymore but I think I’d like a third.

We were together 10 years before our first DC was born. Our DC have nearly a 5 year age gap. I get occasional baby fever but don't think we'll have any more, I'm nearly 40 and lucky to have my 2 DC and looking forward to being able to do more once both DC are a bit bigger.

TheSpanishApartment · 24/01/2022 10:10

Seven years

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 24/01/2022 10:10

Meant to add that I was 19 when DD1 was born. 26 when DD2 was born.

UpToMyEye · 24/01/2022 10:12

We were only together 5 or 6 months before I got pregnant with DS1
18 months after he was born we had DD1…4 years later DS2 then another 2 years later DD2
Been together 14 years now

We are definitely done!!

CatherinedeBourgh · 24/01/2022 10:14

15 years before ds1, another 3 years to ds2. Was 38 when ds2 was born and felt risky to try for a 3rd, so we stopped.

IncompleteSenten · 24/01/2022 10:16

My first was born 17 months after we met and my second 15 months after my first. I think. I'm counting on my fingers here.

Met in December, married in march, son born may of the following year. Pregnant again 6 months after first born

SarahJessicaParker3 · 24/01/2022 10:16

We met at 18 and 19, got together officially at 20 and 21, married at 26 and 27, and had our first baby at 30 and 31. So together ten years, married for four. We had our second at 33 and 34 and we are done we think, but a lot of people seem to have surprise third pregnancies, so I never say never! We aren't planning any more though. Our youngest is four now and due to start reception this year and it feels as if we are now past the baby stage, and it's quite lovely

tearsforfears72 · 24/01/2022 10:18

Together for 6 years and married for 4 when we had our first child

Poorenough · 24/01/2022 10:20

Pregnant 3 months after meeting Shock obviously far too quick and difficult but we survived.

mdh2020 · 24/01/2022 10:49

We’d only known each other a few months when we moved into together; married the following year. Been together 5 years when we had our first. It just felt like the right time but I was still only 22!

FeckingOvaries · 24/01/2022 10:51

See I worry because I'm early 30s and I definitely can't be waiting that many years to have another but equally don't want to rush (and don't even have a long term partner yet haha!). Y'all are so sensible.

Together 9 years before 1st child was born.

IdblowJonSnow · 24/01/2022 10:59

5 years.
4 year age gap between kids. Last one when I was 38.

CrimbleCrumble1 · 24/01/2022 11:03

My DC was born 2 years after getting together with my DH. We lived together after a month, got engaged 3 months later, married and bought a house 9 months after that. Been together nearly 27 years.

Decafhazlenutlatte · 24/01/2022 11:26

Met at 21, married at 30, dd at 32. Now 34 and can’t decide whether to try for another dc.

DaisyWaldron · 24/01/2022 11:28

We got together when I was 20 and he was 21. Had our first child 11 years later.

DaisyWaldron · 24/01/2022 11:29

Oh, and DC2 3 years after that.

mrsed1987 · 24/01/2022 11:32

Met in 2012 both aged 24, moved in together 2014, married 2018, first child 2019. We are waiting for April when the nursery fees drop to try for 2nd. We are both now 34.

Lolly86 · 24/01/2022 11:33

Got together in 2008, married 2012, had DD in 2013

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2022 12:06

Together 2012. 10yrs tomorrow actually

Ttc almost at once as I was 38 and had infertility and knew be ivf but tried naturally as well

Finally preg summer 2016 after 5 private ivf so took 4.5yrs with this dh

Tho was trying with dh 1 who sadly died so 10 yrs ttc in all

As was almost 44 when dd was born I’m happy with one child. She’s healthy and happy and didn’t want to risk another preg, had bad hg not the financial and emotional aspect of ivf again

Phos · 24/01/2022 12:59

We’d been together nearly 5 years when she was born. Less time than I would have imagined being with someone before having kids but by then we were 31 and 36, owned a house, good jobs so it seemed right.

We’re only having the one. She’s nearly 5 now.

SouthParkCovid · 24/01/2022 13:03

I had DD1 when I was 18, was with her dad 2 years before falling pregnant. We split when she was one.

I had DD2 when I was 31, been with DH for 6 years now. Hoping for another baby in the next few years.

So 12 year age gap between mine! Hence wanting another baby soon.
