Hey everyone , just a quick one. My 3 year old has been ill since Friday now I've been to hospital twice due to temps that just won't go away! 40.7 was the highest he had got. We are up again with the next episode of temps , 38.8 atm, he's had some calpol and a massive bottle of water that he has demolished I'm happy about that. He hadn't ate a thing since Friday and lost abit of weight. He says he's hungry I make him whatever and he doesn't eat it. My point is it's now Tuesday and he's still got a temp, snotty nose, gunky eyes, sore throat. We have taken covid test still awaiting the results. I'm just fed up now I feel so scared everytime he gets a temp as he had sepsis when he was 3 month old and they kept telling me for weeks it was just a viral infection that turned out it was sepsis. I'm petrified there wrong again , my kids haven't ever lasted this long with a temp when its viral? I also woke up the Saturday and had serious swollen glands (still have) a sharp flemmy cough, head ache , really stiff neck and pain down back too I've still got this headache too. Anyone else experiencing this???

When my dd had covid she had a temperature for ten days. Or could it be tonsillitis? I’ve never known my ds to be so ill it went on for days.
Hopefully it will break soon. It’s so scary when they’re little and unwell.

How is your DS this morning OP? Hope you managed to get some sleep as well.

Hey, he is just very tired and weak. His eyes are red and gunky he woke up with a temp again but all okay now, keeps saying he's hungry but but I give him something he won't eat it still. 6th day he's barley ate and I hate it but waiting for docs to ring us back about the hives

Poor boy 😞 I do hope he starts to turn a corner soon.

If he has hives, could the vomiting be linked to a possible allergy??

That said, my dd has just gone down with a sickness bug so maybe something doing the rounds 🤷‍♀️

I'm really not sure , hives have gone down now , I'm trying to figure out is it because he's not eaten for days and he's having antibiotics on a empty stomach or is it because he ate some cereal for the first time today and vomited straight away as he's had a empty stomach for days and it was too much too soon? I'm not sure I'm so drained and Scared its awful 😢

Did GP phone back. If not call 111 now to speak to someone

Enough4me · 01/12/2021 23:45

Is he sipping drinks to keep hydrated?
Eating - I'd suggest buttered bread or mash as may stay down more easily and when he's being ill he's also losing salt.
Keep in contact with GP as this has been days now.

MothExterminator · 02/12/2021 09:55

Hi OP, how is your little boy doing today? Is he keeping fluids down?

I would be worried about all the vomiting (mainly due to fluids) and call the GP again if it doesn’t stop Flowers

How are you doing?

shabbadababa · 02/12/2021 13:50

Hi everyone, still a really chappy day, thrown up about 4 minutes ago after calpol. He's still drinking and he's eating a tiny bit today but as I said he's thrown it all up.
He is so sleepy it's u real, he went to sleep at 8am-12am then he's just gone back to sleep again now. I realy don't know what to do as I've spoke to 5 doctors and been to hospital in these 7 days , and the docs say if you go to hospital they will only say the same , he's weeing the bed then he sleeps for hours and doesn't wee he's going for one every couple of hours.

Your child has been sick for seven days now vomiting so is he even absorbing antibiotics. He's asleep or sick. What colour is his urine??

MothExterminator · 02/12/2021 14:04

I wouldn’t be happy with the sleepiness and the vomiting. Depending on how else he appeared I would probably call the GP… again.

Sorry i didn't make this very clear, he's had a temp and been very unwell for 7 days , sick for 2 , he's on anti biotics yes. I don't believe it's a viral at all and I am about to make my way down to the hospital again hes been sleepy this whole 7 days but it's just got worse and now he's sleeping full days and waking up for 30 mins at a time really. He's woke uo because I rung 111 and then he's now gone back to sleep.

I think you are doing the right thing. Insist on blood test if you can. If it is bacterial, the bacteria can be immune to the specific antibiotics you have. My DS once had strep throat. They tested the bacteria against different antibiotics. They were resistant to 4 out of 6.

Sending you lots of positive energy

hedgehogger1 · 02/12/2021 15:41

Nothing to add but that I hope he's on the mend soon

justasking111 · 02/12/2021 15:46

Glad you're going back to the hospital.

shabbadababa · 02/12/2021 21:24

UPDATE my ds3 has been admitted to hospital with suspected sepsis , AGAIN. He's had this when he was 3 month and was admitted on the same day December 2nd 2018. Weird that isn't it. He's not eating, vomiting , mottled skin , pale white , had a IV with fluids and anti biotics as he was that dehydrated they couldn't take his bloods. He has slept the whole day too.

He is also having a xray as we speak to see if his left lung is OK, due to it been silent when breathing compared to the right lung.
