Child Protection Planning what to expect

My partner was removed from the home for assaulting me and now we have to go to a meeting about child protection on Monday.

Can someone help me prepare and know what to expect.

Social workers are not your friend OP. Be very careful what you tell them. They have a dual role of supporting mothers and investigating the risk of harm to children. They know women often fall into the trap of getting back with a man who has abused or assaulted you. Everything will be noted. I’d caution you never to get back with him and be careful what you discuss with professionals. The sooner you prove you can put the baby’s needs first and get rid of this bastard, the better. From now on you no longer think about his needs, or what contact he wants.
Oh and he will move on to another woman. Put that out your mind as much as you can. It’s likely you still actually love him despite him breaking your ribs. Make sure you do a Claire’s Law police request whenever you meet a new man and are able to consider a new relationship. Thinking of you. Pick your child, not an abuser. He will try to kid you on that he is capable of change, may be remorseful. May plead guilty. Forget him though. I know this is harsh but you need to know.
Also educate yourself about the impact of domestic abuse on a baby’s brain development. And always try to be emotionally available to your baby’s needs. His assault is really an attack on you as a mother. The most dangerous time is when you leave a man. Protect yourself and your baby and get a solicitor to get an ex-party injunction. It should be free via legal aid.

Op are you intouch with a domestic abuse service. I see hes on bail but its advisable to apply for a non molestation order for if and when his bail conditions end. This is so he cannot contact you or come to the house. I see you have secured the home which is really good. A non mol will mean that if he turns up and you phone police he will be in breach and re arrested, your socialworkeror DA support workercan advise in this and your entitled to legal aid. Good luck with the plan and the start of your new life. It won't be easy but it will be worth it. You have done the hardest step by leaving him and phoning the police. You have a lot of strength. Remember you are a victim and despite being asked to protect your child (which is a big ask in your circumstances) you need your own support. Don't be afraid to reach out to DA services and your social worker and ask questions if your unsure.

Thank you Arden. I did get advice from Womens. aid. They suggested a non Molestation order but said it may take a while to come through. This is what in worries about, when the bail ends but they have kept extending it so far and he hasn't made contact. It has been difficult but no doubt in my mind I don't want to see him again and if I could I'd keep the baby from him too. It's just horrific and will be a long hard battle

You can speak to this organisation and they will write your statement and help you apply for an emergency no notice hearing for the non molestation order. They are great and it is free!!

@Ilovepoppets can you share any more? PM if you want to. I've said that if he wants contact now he must apply through the courts. This has made me completely on edge, it's not the physical stuff it's the mental control he had on me. At the conference I actually asked for support as I'm so scared.
