Tiny DS in hospital with bronchiolitis - hand hold

DS 14weeks has had a bit of a cold the last few days but this morning really deteriorated. I took him to the GP who said it was just a cold and sent me away. Throughout the day he got worse, fighting for breath, not feeding at all etc so I insisted the GP see him again this afternoon. One look at him and we were sent straight to hospital. DS is now on oxygen with a feeding tube and I’m in bits seeing my tiny baby so helpless. I’m trying to pump but I’m so exhausted and hungry I’m not getting much. DP not allowed to stay due to bloody fucking Covid even though we’re in a side room. Not sure why I’m posting other than to just get it out there.

Thinking of you and Henry, OP.

My baby was 5 weeks old when she contracted bronchiolitis. She spent 6 days on CPAP and then recovered really quickly. The first 5 days were spent with no real improvement.

Sending you love and you are both in our prayers Thanks

Fluffyhairdontcare · 13/09/2021 20:26

Just sent a prayer for Henry x

Ducksurprise · 13/09/2021 20:31

Aeiou90 · 13/09/2021 20:31

Thinking of you and praying for your little Henry. We were in HDU with my little one a few years ago now, things went from terrifyingly bleak to on the path to going home quite quickly. Thank you for taking the time to update us, concentrate on your baby and yourself now x

Hope your little boy gets better. Our little boy got the same at about 10 weeks and although not as bad as yours it was scary. The good thing was the doctors and nurses were the best and they did everything possible to help us both get through. I hope you are getting the same support and are able to rest a bit at least.

Sending loads of super positive thoughts your way, and I really hope he turns a corner soon and you will be able to take your little precious treasure home again healthy and smilesy.

Thinking of you and Henry.💐💐💐💐💐

Putonabrew · 14/09/2021 07:52

My little one was in the same position almost 4 years ago now. It was so scary. I remember the drs coming round every morning for the assessment and nothing really changing. They did say that they were waiting for LO to “turn a corner” and then things would get better quite quickly and eventually, after about 5 days, that is what happened. The waiting and helplessness is horrible though. Thinking of you and hoping Henry turns his corner soon. Make sure you look after yourself and try to rest and eat.

Auroreforet · 14/09/2021 07:55

Morning OP.
Hoping Henry is going to be off his ventilator soon.
Thinking of you both and your dh, has he been allowed in?
Hugs for you all.

NatriumChloride · 14/09/2021 10:02

I’m continuing to pray for you and baby H. He will turn a corner soon and recover. Stay strong and look after yourself, too, although I know that’s difficult to do right now. X

LittleMysSister · 14/09/2021 13:14

I've only just seen this thread OP and wanted to offer a handhold. I'm sending all the positive vibes in the world to you and little Henry. I hope you are managing to look after yourself a little too x

Floopyandtired · 14/09/2021 18:51

He is off the ventilator! I can’t believe it. They decided to “test” him this morning by turning all the dials on the monitors to their lowest settings. They were full expecting it to cause his numbers to go haywire but they stayed good… 3 hours later, still good… so after 8 hours they decided to try removing his breathing tube and it’s bloody worked. He’s just on a little oxygen but otherwise is breathing entirely independently. I can’t believe it. 24 hours ago he was looking really ropey with awful numbers. They’re not kidding when they say babies go downhill quickly but pick up quickly too. I gave him a cuddle earlier and it was one of the happiest moments of my life.
