sunsandwaves · 20/07/2021 11:16

I'm not worried but my first looks the spit of his dad ( which I love) just wondering people with 2 children did second child look more like Mum or dad? I read somewhere first baby is always dad and second is Mum... Who knows

First looks exactly like me feature wise but they have dads colouring
Second and third have my colouring but look exactly like their dad!

RandomMess · 20/07/2021 12:00

None of ours like particularly like either of us.

Friend has her eldest as a mini me, the youngest well reckon they found her under a gooseberry bush! Even comparing baby and toddler photos their is little similarity to either parent.

HotHointheavo · 20/07/2021 12:06

3 daughters and they are total clones of me. I in turn am a clone of my own mum! 1 daughter and I even have identical hands and 1 has manged to buck the trend by having different colour eyes!!! But honestly it even scares me sometimes!

How could it be anything else other than random?

Terrazzo · 20/07/2021 12:09

True for my kids; but im second born and look like my dad whereas my first born sister looks like my mum.

Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 20/07/2021 12:14

It applies to us! First one looks like my DH, second one like me!

CoodleMoodle · 20/07/2021 12:14

Neither of ours look much like either of us. DD has the same hair as me, DS has the same colour but his is short. They both have DH's skintone (slightly olive as opposed to my pure white) and they also make the same face as him when they're watching TV or similar.

The only person DD looks like is DS, and vice versa. You could definitely tell they're siblings but not necessarily who they belong to!

GreenLeafTurnip · 20/07/2021 12:15

I don't think your eggs and his sperm know that it's your second child 😂😂😂

Splendo · 20/07/2021 12:16

I was a bit gutted when after all the stress and sacrifice of pregnancy and birth and motherhood no one ever said DS looked like me (he looks a bit like DH, though not the spit of him).
Then my DD came along and I got all excited thinking she might look like me but in reality she looks just like (and in personality is very similar to)... my sister. The injustice! Grin

Creamcrackersandricecakes · 20/07/2021 12:28

I only have one, but she is the spitting image of me at that age, plus I can see my mum and sisters in her too. DH often jokes about my 'aggressive genes' trampling all over his!! (She looks absolutely nothing like him or anyone else in his family).

BountyIsUnderrated · 20/07/2021 12:30

DS looks the spit of me, most people who see him say it which winds dh up to no end lol.
He thinks it shouldn't matter who they look like I guess (I think he's just jealous lol).

3JsMa · 20/07/2021 13:02

Nope
1st DS mix of me&dad
2nd&3rd DS like my dad's clones
4th my face but light blonde (DD)

Pantene23 · 20/07/2021 13:03

First looks like her dad. Second looks like my sister. Neither looks remotely like me.

Woolywolf · 20/07/2021 13:08

@Dollpiglet

Mine is. I used to get asked if DD was really mine because she looked so much like DH Hmm but Ds looks a lot more like my side of the family
I get asked this all the time too and find it so rude! Like people don’t understand that children sometimes look more like one parent, that doesn’t mean they are not related to the other parent. My daughter hates being told she “looks like a man not like her mum” (not how they mean it but what she takes from it).
Melitza · 20/07/2021 13:10

@Phillipa12

I have 4dc and they all look like me, my identical twin has 3 dc and they all look like her. It's really fun when we all go out as the dc look like siblings. Her ds and my ds2 regularly get mistaken for twins as they only have a 6 month age gap.
@Phillipa12 my db has non identical male twins 2 months younger than my dd. Dd and blonde twin are so alike that they are much more like twins than the actual ones.
LordFoofingtonismyMaster · 20/07/2021 13:12

Eldest is more colouring and all my mannerisms but seeing more of dh's family in her as she gets older, particularly her eldest female cousin. Youngest is the absolute spits of dh and several of his sisters and cousins on that side. Someone in the supermarket once chatted to us in the queue and commented how lovely it was that I was so close to my niece?! HmmSmall one looks up and says that's my mum bringing on amazement and shock in the woman we were speaking to.

Bythemillpond · 20/07/2021 13:13

Dd1 has dh’s eyes but looks the image of my mother.

Ds2 is the image of his dad but has my colour eyes

When they were children they both looked like dh. To the point that I was talking about dd to someone and they turned round and asked how I knew the family.

SleepingStandingUp · 20/07/2021 13:16

Its random fluke. My first looks like me, always has. Even Mil concedes this point. Twins look like me too. But all 3 have Dads eue colour and twins are tall whilst eldest is average (DH is tall, I'm not).

NothingEverChangesButTheShoes · 20/07/2021 13:16

DD looks like a mini version of my MIL with my colouring. She also has the same expressions. Her WTF?! expression is eerily similar, and it isn't learnt because my MIL died six years before DD was born. Happily, she was a nice MIL and is much missed.

RavenclawsRoar · 20/07/2021 13:17

Ds1 is a mini-me. Can't tell our baby pics apart!
Ds2 more of a mix. Definitely more like dh but he has my eyes.

FreeBritnee · 20/07/2021 13:18

1st child more like me. 2nd more like DP. So I imagine it’s nonsense.

RevolvingPivot · 20/07/2021 13:18

1st looks like neither 2nd looks like her dad. People often ask who 1st dd takes after. Think it's my grandmas dad who I never met. Same hair and skin colouring.

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 20/07/2021 13:19

Both of mine look really like me for at least the first year. 3 yo DS1 looks like his dad now and 14 mo DS2 still looks really like me so far.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 20/07/2021 13:19

Luck of the draw.
Mine both look like their dad.
You wouldn't be able to pick me out of a 'who's the mum?' line-up

SleepingStandingUp · 20/07/2021 13:22

Also the first child you bear isnt necessarily the first egg that got fruity and fertilised. Eggs often fertilise but never catch, you wouldn't even know. It would be a lot to expect your body to make sure the first BORN got the right genes turned off or on
