And did they sleep better or worse? In 2 minds when to make the transition!

Our son was in a cot bed (no sides) until he was 5! It was still big enough but we wouldn’t have kept him in it from choice but there wasn’t room in his bedroom for a single bed. We’ve moved out to a flat while we get an extension done and he’s sleeping better than he was (he used to regularly come into our bed in the night) but I don’t know if that’s because he’s in a single bed or because he’s sharing with his brother.

@sarahalice15

When they climb out of the cot.

I wouldnt change unless you need the cot for a siblings arrival etc

Exactly this. I literally walked into the room just in time to catch DD launching herself over the bars. We ordered a single bed a couple of hours later.

DS was about 2.5 when we moved house, so we just got him a new bed, plus DD was needing the cot soon.

DD was 2 a few weeks ago. As soon as we have a free weekend to move things around, she'll be in a single bed.

I've just done DD about a month ago. She is 2.5. She had started hanging her leg over and pulling herself onto the top rail and I just felt it was time.

Didn't go great as I suspected, she has always slept up against the bars and fell out 3 times in a week. Bought an IKEA bed guard and fitted it and that has done the trick.

She would be out every two minutes though if I didn't give her a reason not to get out. She still has a dummy so I tell her I will take them off her if she gets out so that keeps her in but she would take advantage of the freedom if not.

18 months (toddler bed). No change in sleep as she was a good sleeper anyway.
I moved her as I had DC2 when DC1 was 20 months so I didn't want to feel she'd been kicked out of her cot to make way for the baby.
