When could your baby crawl?

At what age did your baby start to crawl and how much tummy time did you give them in a day?

DD crawled at 5 months, sofa cruising at 6 months and walking at 9 months - complete arse compared to my friends babies who you could put down and they’d sit still. She had a fair amount of tummy time as if she lay flat on her back she was sick.

She’s still very energetic at 8 and happily does a 20 mile cycle ride, then go to the park for a play.

7.5 months with very limited tummy time as she screamed blue murder about having to be on her belly. I think she forced herself to crawl just to not have to endure tummy time Grin

BrownEyedSquirrel · 27/06/2021 22:31

Quite early on (can't remember exactly but maybe 6 months, and then walking at 9.5 months).
We did practically NO tummy time as he had terrible reflux and would just cry if we tried.

My dd never did. She used to roll to get to places then started to walk when she was about 14 months old. Never did the crawling stage

Anonymouslyposting · 28/06/2021 07:32

DD was early at 5 months. We did tummy time maybe five times a day but until she could roll she really hated it so each time was a couple of minutes max.

Undersnatch · 28/06/2021 07:35

Both around 8 months. Don’t remember about tummy time but sure it happened most days.

FolkSongSweet · 28/06/2021 07:46

DC1 8 months, DC2 is 7 months and will go any day now - has been crawling backwards
for a good few weeks. DC1 hated tummy time and never rolled over, whereas DC2 has enjoyed it from birth and rolled over early (front to back at 8 weeks, back to front at 11). They both sat up early at 4 months so I think the difference in tummy time might be why DC2 looks set to do it a month before DC1.

8 months, i remember it well because I broke my foot the same day so that was fun. Didn't do much tummy time he hated it, we was walking at a year old.

89redballoons · 28/06/2021 14:20

He did a funny commando crawl type thing at 7 months, and then got the hang of classic hands-and-knees crawling at 8. He was really good and fast at crawling and so didn't feel the need to start walking for another 6 months!

We did quite a lot of tummy time as there wasn't a whole lot to do (lockdown baby).

juliainthedeepwater · 28/06/2021 14:27

Both 7 months - very little tummy time for either as they hated it!

AyyX · 28/06/2021 16:22

6/7 months
Did tummy time a little bit a day, some days not.

Babymamamama · 28/06/2021 16:36

Crawled at six months then walked unaided at nine months. Terrifying!

Hax · 28/06/2021 16:40

Both crawled at 7 months, one walked at 11 months and the other at 15 months. No idea what tummy time means.

Csx99 · 28/06/2021 16:45

6 months Smile

Buddywoo · 28/06/2021 17:00

First at 9 months and walked at 15 months.
Second crawled at 6 months and walked at 9 months.

The second was a nightmare and needed watching every second.

MeadowHay · 28/06/2021 17:08

Very little tummy time as she hated it and learnt to roll from front to back very early so would just do that straight away if I put her on her tummy. She didn't learn to crawl until she was about 20 months or so I think. But she was bum shuffling instead at 11 months and walking independently at 16 months. She slipped crawling as well as that stage where they walk a few steps, topple over and repeat type thing, she wouldn't let go of our hand until she could toddle about quite independently without falling all the time.

Hm2020 · 28/06/2021 17:17

Ds hated tummy time due to severe reflux but he slept up right on me a lot so sort of on his tummy he was 7 weeks early and on his first bday didn’t move much at all but at 15 1/2 months he started to cruise and with in a week walked he never actually crawled

PippinStar · 28/06/2021 17:25

Both 7 months. Almost no tummy time due to reflux!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/06/2021 17:33

My eldest had a lot of tummy time and crawled at 8 months my youngest less tummy time and crawled at 6 months

SamanthaVimes · 29/06/2021 20:42

DD crawled at 8 months, walked at 10 months, can barely keep up with her now just shy of 12 months!

We did maybe 10 mins total of tummy time because every time she tried it she either screamed blue murder or did a massive vomit. As soon as she could roll front to back she completely refused to be on her tummy anyway.

She did spend a lot of time in the carrier though as she hated her pram too… she’s never struggled to tell us when she doesn’t like something Grin she’s so happy toddling about now though!
