Elsi has just been weighed by health visitor. 91st Centile and 8.1kg which she said is all good. She's 28 weeks.
So I'd say perfect @Kj1010
Don't worry. X

Jwl45 · 15/06/2021 13:31

@xmasbaby20
Hi. Elsi is usually tired by 7 o clock - so will sleep between 7 and 8 pm normally. She will wake then around 8 am. We are very lucky that she likes her sleep.
She was awake today at 7 mind lol.
She is 7 months old .x

Ty @jwl45 I appreciate that the care in my area is so poor hv and doctors still not seeing anybody its beyond a joke now @xmasbaby20 my boy doesnt go down till around 9pm up to 10.30pm cant get him to go any earlier than that now at the moment lately he has been very unsettled in sleep like as soon as dummy comes out about 5 mins moaning in sleep but goes straight back once plugged lol he does sleep till about 7/7.30 am which I'm grateful for but during the day he either catnaps or doesnt sleep which makes it really hard for tidying etc

Thanks @Jwl45 @Kj1010 it's hard as all babies are different. Mine will have 3 naps a day and go to bed usually between 7pm - 8pm until 4.30am. It's so hard to get him back to sleep at that time and when i finally get him down I can't sleep myself 🙈 hoping it is just a phase!

Jwl45 · 15/06/2021 19:58

@xmasbaby20 yes I'm sure it is... And will soon sort itself out. 🤞🤞

kkr168 · 15/06/2021 22:12

@xmasbaby20 Tommy is 5.5 months, he goes to bed at 7pm, wakes for a feed at 2am, then is wide awake at 6am. Really wish he'd sleep till 7am when my alarm is set 😂 up until a few weeks ago he was waking twice in the night for feeds, so things are improving & occasionally he surprises me by sleeping through, so I know he can do it!
He also has 3 naps a day at 9am, 12:30pm & 4pm, for around 1 hour. I'm very grateful for those naps, manage to get quite a bit achieved during nap times.

Is the 4:30am starts a new thing? Hopefully just a phase

xmasbaby20 · 16/06/2021 07:52

@kkr168 it's been a few weeks now 😴 that's great that he sleeps so well for you. How do you find the 3 hour wake windows? I am wondering if we are having too much sleep during the day, some days he will have 4 hours over the 3 naps. We stopped feeding overnight around 4 months, when he wakes he is happy and babbling away so I don't think it's hunger. I did try to feed him at 4.30am this morning and he fell back to sleep until 6am! But now he won't take his morning milk 🙈

kkr168 · 16/06/2021 10:29

The 3 hour wake windows work great for us!
At their age they should be having 12-16 hours total sleep, Tommy has 14 on average, I actually find he sleeps worse at night if he misses a nap.

Tommy's still doing well on his new milk (aptimal pepti) he's starting to take more oz's across the day now, gone from 4oz to 6oz per bottle, assume it tastes nicer! So hopefully he'll drop the other night feed soon.

xmasbaby20 · 16/06/2021 13:52

That's good to know, I might stretch his wake windows a bit more now. I forever live in fear of him being overtired lol. That's brilliant he is doing well on the new milk ☺️

TulipVictory · 16/06/2021 17:34

Please tell me I'm not the only one who's sleep is getting worse ? 😫 little one is almost six months and this started a couple of months ago. Like last night, she will wake up in her cot screaming not long after I've put her in. She'll suckle from me in my bed then when she's asleep I put her back in her cot but she will wake about an hour later and repeat. We did this about 4-5 times up until 02:30 last night and then she was wide awake at 04:30 😫 I managed to settle her at 6 and then she slept until 8. I am absolutely shattered 😫😫 she seems to wake up and hate being alone in her cot, I just don't know what to do, there are more bad nights like this than good and I don't know how to carry on being this nackered all the time 💤

xmasbaby20 · 16/06/2021 20:44

Hi @TulipVictory sorry that sounds so hard ☹️ do you have anyone who can help out while you get some rest? My LB is not a perfect sleeper but we get some long stretches which definitely helps. I am no expert but it sounds like your little one is struggling to connect sleep cycles, from what I have read a baby needs to go to sleep in the place they will stay asleep e.g if she is suckling and falling asleep on you then that's where she will expect to be when the sleep cycle ends, if she's not there then she will wake fully. There are some really helpful threads under the sleep topic, if you have a look there you might get some ideas on how to help baby fall asleep on her own!

Yellowbeansontoast · 16/06/2021 22:31

@xmasbaby20 Hi - my LO usually goes to bed between 7 and 8pm, wakes once for a feed anywhere from 9-midnight and then sleeps through til 7am. Mind you, some nights he's up a lot more and last week, he did actually get up at 6am twice in a row 😴 I read that keeping the first nap at the same time no matter when he wakes can help with those early wakings, so you could try that maybe? Whenever he wakes too early for our liking, I just lengthen his next wake window so that his first nap isn't earlier than 9am. Also blackout curtains have helped us a lot.
He has 3 naps - usually 1-1.5h in the morning, and then anything from 30mins to 2h for his other two🤷

@TulipVictory sorry to hear you're struggling :( I agree with @xmasbaby20 that it's likely those sleep cycles. If you feel like it's getting too much, you might need to try letting her fall asleep on her own but it probably would involve some crying unfortunately.

xmasbaby20 · 17/06/2021 07:08

Hi @Yellowbeansontoast sounds like you have a great sleeper Smile we actually had a 5.10am wake up today which I'm taking as progress lol. I brought him in beside me and he dozed on and off until 6.30am. I will try the same time for the first nap, thanks for the tip!

kkr168 · 21/06/2021 07:46

Tommy made his dad's father's day by saying da da!

Cr17 · 21/06/2021 08:04

Hi, hope you don't mind me jumping on!
My Lo is 6 months tomorrow and she has 3 naps a day totalling 2.5/3hrs generally 1st nap 9.30am, 2nd nap around 1pm and 3rd nap around 4.30pm she goes to bed between 7.30/7.45pm she has nights where I dont hear from her (although I wake up worrying i haven't heard a peep from her and have to check on her 🙈 ) then I have nights where she wakes up loads!
I'm too finding that she is starting to wake earlier in the mornings anytime between 5/6am I try to make our days start around 7am to stay consistent so I try to keep her in her cot until then but I could be going into her room loads before 7am to give her the dummy and hoping she falls back to sleep!!
When do babies night sleep actually become consistent?? 🤷‍♀️

Jwl45 · 21/06/2021 09:33

@kkr168 aw how lovely. @cr17 welcome.
Elsi sleeps around same time in the evening - between 7 and 8.
Naps are generally short now. One in morning , may have one in afternoon and has decided she likes a 5pm ish nap. She does sleep all night until around 8.15 am so feel very lucky there.
We now enjoy Weetabix... She has it with whole milk - which I didn't think she was allowed to do - as it's hardly "cooking with fresh milk" but HV said yes last week. So we have tried and she's enjoying . We are also now sitting up.... All these little milestones. I have sat here this morning with the dread of returning to work in a fortnight. I shall so miss these mornings 😭

Kj1010 · 21/06/2021 10:59

@kkr168 how lovely my lo said mum a couple times yesterday but not consistent yet does babble alot and sounds like he say row row row lol welcome @cr17 my lo goes down quite late of I'm honest cant seem to get him to go earlier so he goes down anywhere between 10 to 10.30 pm or even sometime 11pm normallys sleeps through till 6/7am but has been waking once at like 2/3 am for bottle he has a morning nap around 9/10 am for around 20 to an hour then he will next nap around 1/2 ish again anywhere between 20 mins to hour then another sleep around 4ish and that it till bedtime @Jwl45 that is good I've been giving my boy cows milk with breakfast loves it he now bum shuffles around can move back wards but cant crawl forwards I'm back at work in november brought it forwards month but am dreading it as I will be up and out the door at 5.30am so my oh will defo be doing the first feed as I wont be home till 7.45

Sorry all me again just weighed my boy and his lost a pound in weight not I'll etc eating and drinking fine do u think I shud be concerned

OP posts:
Pinktruffle · 29/06/2021 14:09

I would maybe call the health visitor and ask them? I dont think any of us are qualified to advise when it comes to baby weight loss.
Mine currently has toilet problems, he has had 7 poos in the last 24 hours - normally he goes twice a week. He has been having 3/4 poos a day for the past 4 days. Called HV and they think its probably teething as he is quite happy otherwise. A bit off his food at the minute but drinking his milk. I can't get over how quickly he is growing!

Kj1010 · 29/06/2021 14:33

Have been trying not answering I weighed him on my scales so they only a guide he has had very loose poo for 2 days not constantly though dribbling like mad biting down on stuff but no temp eating fine drinking like 4/5 sometimes 6 bottles in a 24 hour period so he isnt ill but he is also crawling backwards bum shuffling etc so could be that I am gonna keep trying and see if I can go get him weighed on there scales

Jwl45 · 29/06/2021 15:17

@Kj1010 aw I know what you mean.i need to get a cot and a car seat .... Soon. Are all car seats rear facing these days?
As she's in the back, I wish she could face the front so I can see her easier in my mirror.

Pinktruffle · 29/06/2021 15:46

That does sound a lot like teething @Kj1010. Sorry the health visitors aren't picking up, I hope you manage to get through eventually.

@Jwl45 we have a swivel/360 carseat which can be both rear and front facing, though I know rear facing is recommended for as long as possible it's also a real back saver when getting him in and out of the car.

Jwl45 · 29/06/2021 16:16

@Kj1010 weight loss could be due to the fact that your little one is a lot more active etc now. Especially if eating and drinking ok... And pooping! (Elsi's has been a little loose today a couple of times. But I know she's teething and this happens.)
For peace of mind, good to phone the HV and check.
Mine did say the other week that she may have a little dip as she starts moving about a lot more.
@Pinktruffle ah ok. One to think about then. I didn't realise it was rear facing mostly. I guess that makes sense.
