Need to widen my repertoire of songs/rhymes with hand gestures/tickling etc. -- 9-month-old DS can't get enough!!

And while we're on the subject, why can I never get the hand gestures for incy wincy right???

I know what you mean Toky about the hand gestures for Incy Wincy - I can nwever do it quite right either. DS doesn't see to mind though.

My ds loved all of these also at this stage, another nice one is little mousie brown.

Can anyone describe the incy wincy fingers?!

OP posts:
JoolsToo · 28/10/2004 13:42

I do alternate little finger to thumb movements iykwim!!!

stickynote · 28/10/2004 13:43

What's the one with them sitting on your lap facing you and you hold their hands - something to do with horses?

suzywong · 28/10/2004 13:44

spread out hands and fold middle three fingers down towards palm
now make your hands be the spider doing its stuff by touching thumb to little fingers then pivoting top pair as you move your hands upwards

does that make sense?

bundle · 28/10/2004 13:44

horsey horsey don't you stop
just let your heels go clippety-clop
your tail goes swish and your wheels go round
giddy-up we're homeward bound

?

Blackduck · 28/10/2004 13:46

Row row row your boat gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream....

ds used to love this if I sat him on my lap held his hands and rowed him......

toky · 28/10/2004 13:46

Noooo I still can't do it!!!!!! Or is it OK if your fingers come apart? When I see others do it it always looks like their hands are in continuous contact, iykwim. I know it doesnt matter, but it's driving me nuts!!!

Bozza · 28/10/2004 13:47

Don't know the words to horsie horsie but I do see-saw marjorie daw in that position and also row row row your boat. Also do pat-a-cake.

stickynote · 28/10/2004 13:47

Is there another horsey one where they're jumping over fences??

toky · 28/10/2004 13:47

Oh yes blackduck! And the 2nd verse:

Row row row your boat gently down the stream
And if you see a crocodile
Don't forget to scream (aaaa!)

OP posts:
suzywong · 28/10/2004 13:48

Awwwww my ds2 loves that one

what about

Wind the bobbin up, wind the bobbin up
Pull, pull, clap clap clap
Wind it back again, wind it back again
Pull, pull, clap clap clap
Point to the ceiling, point to the floor
Point to the window, point to the door
Put your hands together 1-2-3
Lay them gently on your knee

Wiiiiiiiind it (slowing doing a double handed winding action), wiiiiiind it, wiiiind it
(pause)
Faster faster faster faster faster faster (speeding up the action for comic effect)

Bozza · 28/10/2004 13:49

oops slow typing. second verse to row your boat is first line same as verse then second line "and if you see a crocodile don't forget to scream". DS provides the scream which used to scare dd and i had to send him to other side of room but now she loves it.

Bozza · 28/10/2004 13:50

slow typing again!

suzywong · 28/10/2004 13:51

well you really should be in continuous contact too, toky, if you don't want to embarras your child in later life

and then there's

x little monkeys bouncing on the bed
one fell off and he bumped his head
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said
no more monkeys bouncing on the bed

jamiesam · 28/10/2004 13:52

Do you know wind the bobbin up? Just in case, here goes.
Wind the bobbin up
Wind the bobbin up
Pull, pull, clap, clap, clap

Wind it back again
Wind it back again
Pull, pull, clap, clap, clap

Point to the ceiling
Point to the floor
Point to the window
Point to the floor
Put your hands together
One two three
Put your hands upon your knee

ps - hand gestures for incy wincy - Start by making a diamond with your index fingers and thumb (like for twinkle twinkle little star), then turn one hand so each finger meets a thumb. Keep the higher finger and thumb touching and twist each hand so the lower finger and thumb swing outwards to describe a circle and meet at top - now the finger and thumb that were higher are lower, so they swing outwards to describe a circle...

errr... getting a bit stuck here. Beginning to sound like the rules of cricket. Hopefully I've been typing so long somebody else has posted a much better description...

toky · 28/10/2004 13:54

jamiesam, I've got it I've got it!!!! Brilliant instructions!
