Hello,

To women with breastfeeding experience and stopped when you or dc were truly ready, did you celebrate or mark the occasion in some way when it came to an end? If so how? If no, why not?

Out of curiosity, would love to hear your views/experiences.
Thank you
Elemzee

Which rag are you writing for?

VettiyaIruken · 03/02/2021 12:23

No. It just stopped and we moved on to the next stage. it's not imo really celebration worthy. It's just feeding your baby. 🤷‍♀️

Aspiringmatriarch · 03/02/2021 12:26

Er, no. Can't say I did. Is this another cringeworthy instagrammable moment I'm missing out on?

Nope I complained bitterly about sore boobs for about ten days.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 03/02/2021 12:35

I felt a bit sad that DS2 didn't even question that he was getting a story instead of a feed, but that was it.

I actually hired out a hall and invited 200 of my closest friends and family. They watched me breastfeed for the last time and when it finished we had fireworks outside! It was amazing! I had a 3 tier cake especially made and balloon arches the lot!!! It was bigger than my wedding! Grin

That's pretty tame tbh.

I got one of those specialist 'final feed' videographers that you always see advertising on Facebook to come and document the experience so it could be livestreamed to my Twitter followers. Then all of my family got a tasteful screengrab of the moment of unlatching tattooed on their upper arms.

Chances you you won't notice which one is the last one until a while later.

I assume OP was intending to be back with a 'spontaneous' link to that vile breast milk jewellery stuff?

Mamette · 03/02/2021 13:11

😂 @carpetstress

2typesofjungle · 03/02/2021 13:15

Shit, is this going to be the next big thing!? I'm out!

CeeCee2021 · 03/02/2021 13:15

Oh god no. Dont even consider making this a thing PLEASE fgs

RidingMyBike · 03/02/2021 13:16

No, not at all. Just felt hugely relieved that I never had to breastfeed ever again.

Hotcuppatea · 03/02/2021 13:18

Could some of you please just show a little more respect. I think DC2 is just about done with BF, showing less and less interest. I’m not going to be able to have the huge party I was planning because of lockdown. And OH can’t get to a jewellery shop to get me another diamond to mark the occasion.

It’s just one thing after another at the moment. I can’t take anymore do your stories of your grand ways to mark the end. So many of us are going to miss out on this.

JaneNorman · 03/02/2021 13:23

Although to be fair to the OP I might get myself some new bras. Bras that don’t go click. Can’t stand the click now!

Plussizejumpsuit · 03/02/2021 13:23

I feel like the phrase stopped when dc were truly ready sounds a bit like many women stop when they fancy. Which doesn't sound very nice.

SoupDragon · 03/02/2021 13:30

I took my children on a family holiday to the Caribbean and gave my youngest their last breastfeed whilst watching the sun set on the beach on our last day. Then I requested "I'm Free" by The Soupdragons in the resort bar and danced topless til midnight.

LynetteScavo · 03/02/2021 13:31

Shortly after my child's 6th birthday they were truly ready stop breastfeeding. I offered them them my breast when they were crying because a friend had snatched a toy from them during a play date. They declined me, even though it had been a comfort previously, and then that evening they just weren't interested in their evening feed. They've never looked back. Two weeks later, when I knew my child truly was never coming back for another feed I bought myself the loveliest La Perla underwear and celebrated having my breasts back all to myself - with my husband, in our own special way.

ParkheadParadise · 03/02/2021 13:31

@JaneNorman
I'm sure your Done with the boob party would be classed as essential 😂😂😂

However, I have saved some breast milk in the freezer and will use it when I make DCs future wedding cake Smile

Montysauras · 03/02/2021 13:33

Nope by 16 months I was glad we were done 😁 I think I celebrated by drinking more wine then normal and actually getting a (fairly) decent nights sleep Wink
