Anyone else seen this article from CV in the Daily Mail? (I would like to stress at this point that I found this via google search and not by buying a copy of the Daily Hatemail). It's a long-winded justification of her 'method'.

It's full of little gems: "For my critics, though, the most emotionally charged complaint relates to me saying that mothers should not cuddle a new baby for more than about ten minutes a day. It makes me seem cold and uncaring, perhaps. But it is a fact of life that brand new babies don't want to be picked up and held. Bless.

she may have dedicated 24 years of her life to caring for babies, but she is not a paediatricain or chilkd psycholoigist so therefore, in my view, is unqualifie=d to tell parents that babies don ;t need to be held for more than 10 mins a day, and she doesn't have her own children, so therefore cannot legitimately empathise with the emotionbal ramifications of having a crying baby in the house 24 hours a day.

so , newborns don;t want to be cuddled, they only want to sleep.. in that case, ms verity, why do you command enormous fees for getting a baby to do what you say it should do anyway..

love the way she thinks big babies need more than milk after 4 months, of course, all of us who got our babies to 5 / 6 + months before weaning were starving our babies

her whole ethos is about the mother's needs, and not the baby's. the baby has to come first, it is the natural order.. babies are not designed to fit into 4 hour compartments

i don;t know many adults who can go 4 hours comfortably without a drink, never mind a new born whose sole raison d'etre is eating, sleeping and feeling loved

this article only confirms every thing wrong with her ethos.

and picturing her with a cuddly wuddly fluffy puppy is a blatant attempt to portray her in a nicer light.

I can't believe anyone would say "I know eerything there is to know about babies"

Bloody hell, that last post made me sound like my mother.

I am shocked that I, a mother of 3 and previous childminder, can't get a job anywhere near kids, without a nvq, btec or nneb in childcare, but she can go on national television telling women what to do with their babies, and she has no qualifications what so ever.

she's a hundred years old, she'll not be having any babies. 41, indeed... aye, right.

CV would hate me. I'd love to be locked in a room with her so I could subject her to hours of watching me cuddle, exclusively bf and generally love my 5 month old.

This publicity statement says she's "highly qualified"

I look after babies and toddlers and am near her claimed age. I am childless.

I disagree with her on everything, I think.

PS If I become ClaireVerity for Hallowe'en will it get mn sued forever? Or is it just too scary a name?

problme is, she has now built her career and her livelihood on believing this, so if she backs down and changes now, her career is finished... so she has to keep believing it

So babies dont need holding, are just like baby pigs and goats? You dont need to be qualified. LOL at the "I dont try and steal other peoples husbands".

She did shut the door in the show so her statements are untrue. Love the throw away comments that feeding on demand should be avioded, co sleeping is the largest cause of baby deaths, and stuffing full of food at 4 months is ok.

She really needs to learn to research before she makes commetns, but then if she had done her NNEB or BTEC, should would know that.

I exclusively breastfed my 12lb 4oz baby for 5 months and he was consistently around the 98th centile.

How can she say bringing up babies is "one of the most loving, most human activities of all" and effectively take all the love out of it.

Can't we just wrap her up in a blanket and close the door on her.
