September 2020 babies- how are we all doing?

Hi ladies! I had my gorgeous DS back on 22 September and just wanted to post to see how our September babies are getting on?
I'm a FTM and whilst I had an idea what to expect it's been a massive shock to the system!

The lack of sleep is what is ruining me but I have to say me abs DH make a great team and each giving each other time to lie in, or go to bed early or nap.
DH is on nights this week so pretty much on my own all day and night so it's been pretty exhausting!
How is everyone else doing?

Seems we all had a good nights sleep then 😊. Ds went 4hours then 4 hours then 2 hours, was amazing! Had a hectic day with ds1 though, the terrible 2s are actually a thing 🤣. Hes done nothing but misbehave all day and if he tells me no 1 more time i think I might have a breakdown 🤣.

I had bad back pain after having ds1 and was a result of having an epidural. Think it lasted around 6 weeks then gradually got better.

lockdownpregnancy · 01/11/2020 17:19

Oh dear @LoveRainbow02 I'm hoping ours isn't going to be that bad, but I may be dialysis so with that thinking! 😝
DS is still asleep at the minute! Left the hairdryer noise on and he's properly zonked out in his cot! Hooray!!!
I may actually be able to keep my house straight going forward! I can but hope, but again, I think I'm leading myself into a false sense of security! 😂

@lockdownpregnancy -The hairdryer noise is great, I played it for ds this afternoon to allow me to get ready 🤣. Hes so congested tonight and not falling into a comfortable sleep. Its horrible hearing him so blocked up. It started around 7 this morning, went away during the day and is now back tonight 😔. I bought him a nasal spray to use before every feed so hopefully he clears up soon 🤞

@LoveRainbow02 run a hot shower so the bathroom fills of steam and sit with baby in there and it should help with his congestion!
Hopefully we all get a good nights sleep! Just giving DS his last bottle before bed! Praying he goes down easy 🙏🏻🙏🏻

@lockdownpregnancy - I'll try that today and see if it clears him any. Had an awful night, poor thing was up every hour and couldnt even finish his bottles 😔. I'm up with ds1 now and I can see ds2 starting to stir on the monitor, wee soul is so uncomfortable.

Embalina · 02/11/2020 09:18

@lockdownpregnancy I know right, I definitely could not afford £200 on a chair and stool! I found mine on Facebook marketplace for £50. Still more than I can shell out easily but if it’s the difference between bring comfortable at night for the next however long then I can justify it.
I had an epidural too (cannot imagine having gone through the birth without it) but my lower back’s been alright for the most part, it was largely just tight for a few weeks. My upper back is suffering at the moment being stooped over him while feeding. Nursing pillows are rubbish too. Husband is picking up a second hand bean bag for me today so I can make my own.
The chair came at the right time, last night DS was so unsettled, husband got so frustrated so had to come and wake me up to feed and settle him. I basically sat rocking in the chair pretty forcefully for like half an hour until he calmed down. He wasn’t crying, just wide awake and almost frantic. He then was unsettled ALL NIGHT! Just grizzling all night and not sleeping for more than 20 minutes at a time and that was rare. He’s now shattered and sleeping on me. Tried to put him down this morning twice but he wasn’t having it so I think this is me for the day.

Our arms keep going numb and achey, I haven’t weighed him recently but I think he’s definitely the same weight if not heavier, little chunk!

@LoveRainbow02 We’ve had similar, one really good night and then a terrible night last night. I don’t even know what the deal was with last night. He just seemed so hyped up and unsettled and unable to get into a deep sleep. He seemed to want to interact around 9ish but that’s when we try and start the whole night time environment so try not to stimulate him or play, I wonder whether we should have though. So hard to know the right thing to do.

lockdownpregnancy · 02/11/2020 15:24

@Embalina I spoke too soon with the sleeping. DS went down at 11pm last night and woke up at 2.30am and decided to stay awake FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT!!! 😫
He stayed awake until 5.30am and then wanted feeding so there was no way he was going down. He finally dozed off for an hour at 6am, so I'm done in today!
In the plus side he has been having his naps in his cot so I've been able to shower and do some house work whilst he's been asleep! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I somehow doubt that will happen every day but at least I can capitalise in when he does nap in his nursery! 👍🏻

Embalina · 02/11/2020 17:15

@lockdownpregnancy Noooo! The number of times I’ve spoken too soon in the last month is silly.
I’m pleased he’s been napping in his cot at least. Absolutely, we need to make the most of any naps or sleep they give us!

lockdownpregnancy · 02/11/2020 18:19

@Embalina I was hoping for a nap when DH got home but DS appears not to like his daddy today so it's all on me so no nap for mommy!
His next feed is at 8pm so I'm hoping he goes down easy after that so I can get a few extra hours in tonight. Especially if he wants to keep me awake in the middle of the night!
What's the situation with everyone's partners and work? Mine works in manufacturing so thankfully he's able to carry on working so we don't take a hit with his pay. As nice as it would be to have him home for 4 weeks, at least we won't be struggling with maternity pay and furlough pay!

Morning ladies 😊. Ds is still struggling with his cold the little mite. Hes only managed 2-3oz per bottle since last night. His last feed at 5.30am he only managed 2oz and is really unsettled in his crib the now. I was hoping for another hours sleep but ds1 has also been awake since 5.30am 😴. Are both you ladies placed in lockdown now? I'm in scotland and in tier 3 but I think lockdown is coming for us also 😥. Just wish this would all end!

lockdownpregnancy · 03/11/2020 09:57

Good morning @LoveRainbow02 I'm currently in tier 2 but obviously we are all in lockdown from Thursday!
My mom is forming a bubble with us and the government has also confirmed we can meet another parent outside. My friend is also on maternity leave so it's fab to know that I can meet her for walks with her baby girl 👍🏻
DS slept from 8.30 until 2am last night! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
However he woke up choking on his own phlegm! I shot up and just rolled him into his side to stop him choking it was awful!
Thankfully it only happened the once but it really scared me!
He's been really sicky since last night. He always brings up a bit of his bottle but last night it went everywhere so just as I was settling him back down I had to get him back up to strip him off and dress him in another sleep suit, so it was another hour before I could get him back down.
Overall he did very well, not like the night before.
I'm not expecting miracles he is only 6 weeks old bless him! If I get one good night out of 7 and that slowly increases I'm a happy mommy 🥰
I hope you're little one starts to feel better soon @LoveRainbow02

Hey mamas - I’ve surfaced after another lovely growth spurt! He was 5 weeks yesterday so no doubt the 4-6 week major growth spurt. DH really thinks his face has changed in the last few days.
It was 3 nights of DS barely sleeping 15 minutes at a time before waking up again and being unsettled ALL night. Last night I got 3.5 hours sleep before midnight while DH had him, then he woke hourly for feeds but slept in between for the most part, waking properly at 7:15 so I actually feel a bit more alive today.

In answer to previous questions - my OH is a teacher in a sixth form so he had last week off which was amazing, but went back on Monday, which was so hard as DS was mid-growth spurt, I felt so low. They’ve just said that any admin/non-contact time can be done at home, but there’s also a massive campaign to get the schools and colleges closed as part of lockdown so he could be at home or at least home more from next week.

Also we’re in Norfolk, so we’ve been Tier 1 up until lockdown today. My family are a couple of counties away in Essex which went up to Tier 2 recently so they weren’t allowed to visit anymore.

@lockdownpregnancy OMG 8:30-2?! Really pleased for you, more of this please! That does sound scary with the choking though.
I agree re 1 night out of 7 being good and then just working up from there. Any improvement feels so good.

@LoveRainbow02 How’s your LO now?

A friend of a friend dropped off a bouncy chair this week - she said it was a godsend when her daughter hadn’t poo’d for a while - sure enough, DS was in it this morning, completely filled his nappy so it was coming out of the sides and the top! DH very quickly handed over to me at that point, conveniently.

LoveRainbow02 · 05/11/2020 09:16

Morning ladies 😊. Have you checked out the wonder weeks app? According to that my ds is currently going through his first leap, makes sense actually as hes been crying more than usual and just wants to be held all the time. DH took over last night so I had a full nights sleep which was definitely needed as I was exhausted lol. I have a vibrating bouncer but ds doesnt care for it much the now, the longest hes sat in it has been around 5 mins. Going to buy a swing today and see if he prefers that 🤞.

@Embalina Your DH sounds just like mines, always avoids the poo explosions 😂

@lockdownpregnancy That was a great chunk of sleep! Long may it continue for you 🤞. Its half the battle when we have a decent sleep.

lockdownpregnancy · 05/11/2020 14:05

Afternoon ladies! My DS was 6 weeks on Tuesday and the growth spurt is in full flow too! Had my health visitor appointment today and he's 11lb now!! My arms definitely know this! I'll be like popeye soon 💪🏻
He's been crying a lot too and I think that's growth spurt and his colic poor thing. He did sleep for another 5 hours last night and then 3 hours after, so I'm hoping these are going to become more frequent. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
The doctor said his colic peaks around 6 weeks (and don't I know it! 😫) and then starts to tail off so I'm praying as of next week we start to see some improvement with it🤞

@lockdownpregnancy - that's an excellent weight! How are you and lo?

I got ds a new swing and he much prefers this over the bouncer, its settled him so easily. Today he has been polishing off 6oz bottles 😮. Hes not even 6 weeks old yet and drinking that much lol. Last night with sleep with also great, he slept from 8.30 until 2.30, feed and back down at 3 and slept until 7. Was amazing! He started properly smiling today too so I was absolutely buzzing about that 😁.

lockdownpregnancy · 07/11/2020 20:45

Awwww that's so lovely @LoveRainbow02 my DS is smiling too and it's so awesome! Every morning I wake up with him in his next to me crib and I say morning and he just smiles and coo's at me. Just melts my heart!
My DS is 6 weeks, 7 weeks on Tuesday.
My DS sleeps well for the most part. His first sleep at night is usually 4-5 hours which is great!
He's been having 6oz bottles today and he's seemed a lot more chilled and happy, so have had a lovely day.
He's been unsettled since his last feed but he hasn't slept the little tinker so he's wiped out!
His bedtime feed is due now but he is asleep! I my just put him down and just wait for him to wake before I give him his bottle.
I'm not one of these moms that will wake their child for a feed! I did that once and my god he was NOT happy! 😬 first and last time I did that! 🤪
