Hes 2.8 and height is about 90 to 91cm he kept moving when I was measuring him! Alot of people keep telling me hes tiny is this really small??

My DD is around 25th centile as well and everyone comments that she is tiny. One person even said she was "like a doll" which I'm not sure how to take. I worry about it all the time as she doesn't eat much and is still a size down on clothes. Sending and for your DS!

If he's 25th percentile for height then surely that means that out of 100 kids, he's still taller than 25 of them.

What are yours and your DCs father's height?

My ds was in the 25th percentile for height at 2 years old. Now at 4, he's in the 78th percentile! Between 3 and 4 he grew soooo much! I wouldn't worry, not only dies it not really matter but it can change and quickly at that!

Is he following his curve? If so I wouldn’t worry.

It is pretty small but well within the healthy range. My DS just turned 2 and is 81cm. He is around 2nd centile for height. I'm sure he will shoot up at some point but many people have commented on how small he is. I try not to let it bother me but it does to be honest. I think some people actually think he's malnourished 😑.

With the centiles thing, it only takes a couple of cm to quite significantly change where they fall on the chart, so I wouldnt worry about whether he is seen as small on the chart. Trying to take my own advice

Were 5ft3 and 5ft7 so I wouldn't expect him to be huge but if hes between 9the and 25th it's hardly unusually small is it?

People constantly comment on my dd’s size. She is the shortest in her class and also very thin. No doctor is worried. She is just small.

It’s not a big deal.

We have been told our son is tiny from the minute we took him out.

Random people at playcentres, parks, in the shops or at swimming, literally everywhere.

Its gets boring, i used to worry now i jusy say he is petite like mummy

Hes 3 in Aug and just in 18 to 24 months (ish) i get girls jeans as they are a better petite fit.

Im only 4,11 DH is about 5,8 on a good day.

I havent tried him in the book, i know he is small but I also he is happy, healthy and bloomin clever, so be it.

I do worry for him going to school as he is an Aug baby so only 4 whenhe starts, but hes confident so hopefully he will be ok.

Ime people find something to comment on when you have dc.

Seriously 1 thing can easily become a focus.

Tigger I totally agree. As if being big is somehow better. I get really anxious about DDs size because of so many random strangers comments. Do they realise what they're saying?

As someone who is barely 5 foot tall, I implore you to teach your son to respond with: "really? That is a shock. I hadn't noticed."

My dd is 94cm at 3yrs 3months. She didn’t grow a single cm for at least 3 months at the end of last year but she’s grown 1cm in the last two weeks.

She has two cousins who are 3 months younger than her and she’s miles smaller than them! Someone’s got to be on the smaller side.

My ds is 2nd percentile and people comment. Doesn't help that his speech is very advanced (am told) so some think he is even older so even smaller. It took me 10 months of taking him to GP then a private paediatric nutritionist to finally accept that he is just small. If yours is following curve and otherwise healthy, then let the comments float over you

I’ve just checked, dd2 is just under the 25th centile for height, her big sister on the other hand is on the 91st so I’ve got one at each end of the scale!

My d's has a growth disorder as part of a genetic condition, he is just below the centile lines.

It is notoriously difficult to measure an accurate height/length, even health care professionals struggle to do it accurately. If there are concerns then height and weight would be plotted on a chart over a length of time to see how growth progresses. With d's concern really only startef to be shown when his growth faltered and he dropped down the centiles.

If you are concerned he needs to measured properly over a time, but 25th centile is completely within 'normal' range (ds's sisters are both 25th centile)

We have the opposite problem as our 3.5 year old is 107cm. I think people just have to comment something. I don't know why, but they have to just say anything that's in their head. Just ignore it.

My now 12 year old was always on the 25th centile line but followed the curve till we stopped measuring him. He is very slim still (today’s shorts were age 9-10 and still jacked in at the waist) but he is average height now and has grown 4 inches during lockdown!

I get this all the time my son is 6 and is 98cm and 15.5kg

At 4ft11, when someone says “Aren’t you short!” I assume we’re trading personal comments & make one back. Although come to think of it, nobody’s commented for a while.

Lol I just dont think hes tiny but that's just me. Hes always been higher in weight than height. Hes currently between 50th and 75th for weight lol

Ignore! People always have something to say. I have a big baby and people say oh he's big. Is he not doing x, y or z yet. Because they assume he's older than he is.

Well apparently my child is a giant. Can be awkward when he's considerably taller and younger then other children. Are you sure he's 3 they say. People are just making conversation nosey fuckers
