Baby bath - can anyone recommend?

I have a baby bath tub I was given second hand, but find it quite hard to use. It’s a struggle to hold DS steady while we’re washing him and I’m constantly worried about him hitting his head on the hard plastic or sliding down into the water. It doesn’t help that he hates bath time and constantly squirms and wriggles - probably partly because he’s not being held very well by me.

Are there are any better baby baths out there, or any baby bath seats you would recommend for putting him in the bath with me?

I forgot to add that he’s eight weeks.

We bathed DD in the sink until about 8 weeks as the hand-me-down baby bath we had been given seemed so huge! We’ve now bought a shnuggle bath which is awesome. So easy to use and DD really enjoys it!

Snuggle bath is amazing. We got one for our second and it was much easier but by 8 weeks she had out grown in. This was mostly because she is very long and was pushing her feet against the bottom to try and stand up. We just started using the normal bath with the angel care seat then.

Kitchen sink then straight into big bath.

Angel Bath. I think thats what they're called. You dont have to hold the baby

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 22/06/2020 12:12

Ive bathed my 12 week old in the sink once and it was a real faff compared to using the angel bath seat

HoneyPea · 22/06/2020 12:15

Angel care soft touch about £20 on Amazon, we used ours until around 9months!

Another vote for the schnuggle bath!

The Angelcare bath seat in a normal bath. Used it for ages with 2 DC. Excellent value.

I hadn’t heard of the Angel bath - it looks ideal, thanks all.

We used the kitchen sink and then the shnuggle and popped it on the kitchen drainer. Saves your back. When dd out grew that we put her in the shower

Another vote for Schnuggle - love it.

TheLastUNIC0RN · 22/06/2020 14:59

My 18 month old is still bathed in the Schnuggle. He's a cosy fit but he prefers it to the big bath and it uses less water of course. Highly recommend it

Another vote for the Shnuggle.

Uses hardly any water and takes the whole “OMG SHE’S SO SLIPPERY!!!” panic out of washing a newborn. It’s also lovely to have facing you for playing/splashing about in when they’re a bit older.

Shnuggle vote here too! Ds recently grew out of it but it was definitely one of our best purchases.

LilacSloth · 22/06/2020 16:47

Angelcare bath seat was awesome - made bath time a pleasure rather than a struggle.

HarrietM87 · 22/06/2020 16:54

Shnuggle is so good! We had angelcare too but the shnuggle was better because you could move it round the house if you wanted to (sometimes we bathed DS in our bedroom where it was warmer) and didn’t need to fill a whole bath.

Mumoflittles · 22/06/2020 17:10

Shnuggle is amazing!

ShirleyPhallus · 22/06/2020 17:14

Another vote for schnuggle

With the angel one you have to fill up the whole big bath don’t you? The schnuggle is very portable which means we often bathe the baby in a bedroom / living room for more space

daisy86 · 22/06/2020 17:23

I'm torn between a Shnuggle and an Angelcare now!

Schnuggle 100%. Love that it's portable, in the early days I used to bath baby in the living room now in this weather it comes outside.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 22/06/2020 20:03

A schnuggle would be better for older babies I think. The thing about Angel Bath seat is it has a little bump at the bottom which means they can sit (or lay in the same way they do in a bouncy chair) and wont slip down.

The Schnuggle looks like its just a tub, and you'd still have to hold them up like you would in a bath.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 22/06/2020 20:08

Actually ive just spoken to a friend who has had both.

She said they're basically the same as the schnuggle does have the little bump that stops them slipping down. One you can use anywhere, if you're wanting to bath them anywhere other than the bath/sink (good make shift paddling pool for older babies on hot days?!) Angel Care can only be used in the bath or a big sink.

HarrietM87 · 22/06/2020 20:09

@Letsallscreamatthesistene the shnuggle has a ridge in it that supports the baby so you don’t have to hold them like a normal bath...that’s the whole point and the reason so many have recommended it here. Like I say I had both and preferred the shnuggle. Used it until DS was about 11 months, even though he could have been in the big bath earlier, just because it was so much quicker to fill.

Errorandtrial · 22/06/2020 20:22

Shnuggle is the best baby product I've ever bought!
