When do children no longer need vests?

My dd is 3 and still wears vests, however she's outgrown most of them now and I'm wondering whether I need to buy anymore. Is there an age when children stop needing to wear vests?

Do you mean the ones with poppers? I stopped when toilet trained.

TerrifiedandWorried · 13/06/2020 19:53

Mine never wore vests.

Feetupteashot · 13/06/2020 19:55

Stopped the poppers when toilet training 2.5y or similar. My 3yo often wears vest t shirt as she's not keen on jumpers

Do you mean a vest they wear under their clothes when it is cold?

Popper vests I stopped when he was coming out of nappies. He stopped wearing them all together when he started high school.
In winter I sometimes wear a vest when I'm out on a hike.

lancaster · 13/06/2020 19:56

Mine only really wore them as babies and then occasionally in the winter as toddlers.

RefuseTheLies · 13/06/2020 19:56

My nearly 5 year old still wears vests - she’s a cold wee thing.

lancaster · 13/06/2020 19:58

Only really as babies and then occasionally in winter.

TheSmelliestHouse · 13/06/2020 19:58

Mine wore them in winter till about 8. Daughter wore them most year as she was always cold. So skinny.,no body fat.

lancaster · 13/06/2020 19:59

Sorry for the duplicate, thought the first one hadn't sent.

RandomMess · 13/06/2020 20:01

I still wear them in winter Grin

2Kidsinatrenchcoat · 13/06/2020 20:04

The ones with poppers - once they’re out of nappies
The ones without poppers (tank top style) - never, I still wear one in winter

SamSeabornforPresident · 13/06/2020 20:06

DD is only three but I always imagined she'd continue to wear them until she switches to a crop top (10? 11?) She stopped wearing popper vests when she turned 3.

Like PPs I wear a vest in the winter to keep me warm!

Theforest · 13/06/2020 20:08

Only to keep the nappy nice and snug. Then no more

Windyatthebeach · 13/06/2020 20:09

Vest until pull up age..

ToothFairyNemesis · 13/06/2020 20:10

Best they children wear? Until about 9.

bengalcat · 13/06/2020 20:11

Think mine only ever had a vest as a baby .

Wheresthebiffer2 · 13/06/2020 20:12

Until she was old enough to need a crop top style bra thing instead of a vest. Basically always wore one until age 9/10yrs.

ScarfLadysBag · 13/06/2020 20:14

DD hasn't worn one since about January and she is 16mo now. Might go back to them for winter, but she just wears clothes with no vest for now.

museumum · 13/06/2020 20:14

My ds hasn’t worn one since potty training.
But he wears polos and sweatshirts for school, if he wore a shirt and tie I’d put a vest under.

bluefoxmug · 13/06/2020 20:17

my dc pre teens and teens still wear vests when the weather is cold.

ArriettyJones · 13/06/2020 20:18

Until 10.

Samtsirch · 13/06/2020 20:22

I still wear vest tops, far more comfortable than a bra.
My son wore vests until about 13, through choice.
My daughter until she needed a bra top or training bra, about 13.
If you mean a vest with popper fastenings, mine wore them until they were toilet trained.( my daughter about 2, my son about 3 from what I can remember).

melissasummerfield · 13/06/2020 20:23

My 6 yo didnt want to wear one this winter, but he’s very hot blooded!

Stingeray · 13/06/2020 20:23

Had not realised this was a thing! My dd doesn’t wear them and she is 2. Should I be getting her some? She’s always bundled up warm if it’s cold out.

passthemustard · 13/06/2020 20:24

I think my girls stopped around 8-10 year range. My older two girls were in crop-tops and training bras at age 10.

My now age 8 DD wears her vests to bed with knickers instead of PJs now.
