What time do they go to bed and get up?

My 3 year old goes to bed at half seven and is up any time between 6.30 and 8am. He stopped napping quite early and now if he falls asleep in the day (in the car for example) he will be awake until 9pm

dinosaurmommy · 30/05/2020 19:00

I've got one who turned 3 in January, she dropped her naps a very, very long time ago!

She sleeps from 7pm - 7am.

Hope that's helpful.

Knocksomesense · 30/05/2020 19:01

My 2y5 and 3y5m go to sleep around 7 and wake up around 6.30. They only nap around once a week.

DD 2.5 has completely dropped her naps during lockdown! She goes to bed at around 7PM and is up anytime between 6.30am and 8am. Although to be fair she slept the same times before she dropped her naps too.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 30/05/2020 19:04

Ds is 2.5 and sleeps from 7:00 to between 6-6:30

PeppasMuddyPuddles · 30/05/2020 19:04

Meant to also say it doesnt matter if she goes to bed any later, that's still the time she gets up.
Used to really annoy me when people would be like oh she wont get up at 6.30am if you put her to bed later, it was lies, she does 😂

JuniorMumto1 · 30/05/2020 19:08

DS is just 3 and doesn't nap. If he gets up between 5 and 6, he's asleep like half 6. If he gets up later he'll go to bed slightly later. We really just wing it!

We've also found that putting him to bed earlier or later has no correlation with what time he wakes up the next morning.

MarshaBradyo · 30/05/2020 19:10

Used to go to bed at 7.30 / 8.00 and up at 6.00 To 7

Daylight saving has knocked this back by an hour

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 30/05/2020 19:17

So we were starting to drop naps at nursery pre lockdown (around 2.5yrs old then) but with lockdown we couldn’t get any work done and reinstated an 1.5hr nap with a later bedtime of 8. However even with the later bedtime she was taking ages to go down and tbh I want my evening back. Dropping naps every other day- ish- it’s not consistent- so tonight I’ve just put her down.

Routine all over the place here. My dd seemed to drop naps, fall asleep at 7 then be up at 11 ready to party...

Caterina99 · 31/05/2020 05:47

2.5 year old. No nap and she basically sleeps 7-7 (give or take 30 min either way). If she naps then she’s often still awake at 9/9.30.

My Dc1 was the exact same, and although I’ll miss the break of afternoon nap, I definitely prefer the calmer evenings. She probably naps a couple of times a week now

Misskg1982 · 31/05/2020 06:22

My 3 yr old dropped her naps earlier this year. She goes to bed at 8pm and sleeps till 7-8am.

Napqueen1234 · 31/05/2020 06:27

DD is 3 in June and weirdly stopped napping for around 2 months and has gone back to having a daily 1.5ish hour nap on the sofa (praise the lord!). Bedtime 7 wake up any time between 6 and 7. I find on days when she has naps she’s often still ‘reading’ in bed or playing with toys in bed if I check on her up to 90 mins later but seems happy and tells me to go away so I leave her to it 😂. So grateful as I love my evenings.

arianwe · 31/05/2020 06:29

My 2 (nearly 3) year old doesn't nap in the day and goes to bed between 730-830 and wakes up anywhere between 5-730 x

MsChatterbox · 31/05/2020 06:30

Jealous of all these wake up times. No matter what time my 2.5 year old goes to bed he wakes up at 5am on a good day earlier on a bad day so sometimes he goes to bed at 5pm!! The goal is usually 6pm. I tested 8pm last night and he was up at 5:15 still.

DD stopped napping every day just after she turned 2, and stopped comepletely about 2.5 (she’s just turned 3). She would happily nap if I put her in bed, but then would be up until god knows when!

She goes to bed about 7.45, asleep around 8. Sleeps until 7-7.30.

@MsChatterbox I’ve found that for bedtime to have any effect on wake time it needs to be later for at least a week, a bit like when the clocks change.

Rodent01 · 31/05/2020 08:36

DD is 3 in August, naps dropped at the start of lockdown as bedtime was turning into a battle. Goes to sleep between 7 and 8 and wakes 6.30/7.30 but is very much obedient to The Grow Clock of Control and doesn’t get out of bed till 7 - long may this last!!!!!

MsChatterbox · 31/05/2020 09:23

@sipperskipper I just get so worried about him being overtired if he's getting up early every day and going to bed later 😭

Sipperskipper · 31/05/2020 09:41

@MsChatterbox I know it’s like a vicious circle isn’t it! When I’ve had to try and adjust like this I’ve done it in 15-30 minute increments over a period of days / weeks. Takes longer but helps to try and avoid the overtiredness. No one wants an overtired toddler!!

MsChatterbox · 31/05/2020 09:55

@sipperskipper that sounds like a good idea! Hopefully I get there one day 🙌🏻

Sipperskipper · 31/05/2020 18:00

@MsChatterbox fingers crossed. Just as you get one thing settled its usually another though isn't it! The joys of parenting....

NatalieH2220 · 31/05/2020 20:22

My 3yo has stopped napping since lockdown. He goes up to bed at 7pm, usually asleep by 7.15/7.30pm latest. He'll wake anywhere between 6am-7.30am.

Gobshyte · 31/05/2020 20:27

7-7

Mylittlepony374 · 31/05/2020 20:30

3 1/2 year old, 9pm to 7am. No nap for over a year now.
