What time does your 9yr old get up in the morning?

Morning ladies 😴
What time does your 9yr old (or there about) wake up/get up in the morning? What is acceptable to you?

It's Very hit and miss with my DS, but recently he's been getting up earlier & earlier, this morning he had gotten up at 5:30! I found him watching tv on his Xbox, but I imagine he would have been on his games within the hour.
When I went down, he kept saying "I didn't know the time did I!" As if it was me being unreasonable Hmm so clearly he was still tired.

Xbox controllers will be coming to bed with me to remove the temptation to get up too early and the groclock might make a reappearance since he can't seem to look at the time when he gets up.

Due to sleeping with windows open and happy birds currently anytime after 5, depending on how much activity we did previous day. However we only allow tv or toys, reading etc. His gaming time is only after asking permission. 7 is getting up time for all and then breakfast.

Weekday28 · 29/05/2020 06:35

Never later than 6.30! It was 5.30 this morning. She goes to bed at 8 and lights out at 8.30. She's always risen early and is never tired. I am though!

RuffRiders · 29/05/2020 06:36

DC here up at 05.55, banging around watching T.V, now I am awake Hmm

6.30 mostly

Bleepbloopblarp · 29/05/2020 06:53

My dd8 is waking up very late atm due to her sleep pattern being completely out of whack. She’s messing about every night and getting up after I’ve tucked her in to turn on the light and get her colouring stuff out! I’m having to go in and wake her at about 10am.

She really needs to be back at school - she needs the routine.

Justdontatme · 29/05/2020 06:55

About 6.30. She listens to audiobooks in her room till 7.

KEG05 · 29/05/2020 06:55

Any time between 8 and 10. She has never been an early riser though even as a baby. Unlike her 8 month old sister who thinks 6am is get up and go timen😂.

thaegumathteth · 29/05/2020 07:00

These days usually about 9.

OverZoomed · 29/05/2020 07:02

Any time between 6.30 and 8.30, depending how long it took her to go to sleep the night before. No TV allowed, so she reads or makes stuff or has breakfast.

Ulysses · 29/05/2020 07:19

Around 9, sometime a bit earlier but that's getting rare. She's in bed for 9 and I'd have her lights out by 9.45 but DH is more lax and it's usually around 10pm.

If she was at school it'd have been around 8 and lights out at 9.30.

I'm enjoying her later rising as it means I can get some work done in peace. I usually have to take a break around 9.30 to get her breakfast and usher her along for school work.

Pluckedpencil · 29/05/2020 07:24

8 year old getting up at 9ish because he is going to bed at 10pm. I'm not bothered really as we watch a doctor who in the evening at 9pm and then he knows it's bedtime. If he is still awake he reads in bed. Don't see the point of insisting he gets up early as the mornings are boring for him and if he starts school work at 10am it makes no difference really.onky exception is today as he has a video lesson she he'd actually better get a move on (it's 8.25 here!)

weepingwillow22 · 29/05/2020 07:27

5am but he is in bed by 7pm and has ASD. He is meant to stay in bed quietly until 6am but that does not normally happen.

Pascha · 29/05/2020 07:30

Usually he's up when DH's alarm goes off at 6. I've never known him still in bed after about 6.30am.

DeathMetalMum · 29/05/2020 07:31

She's usually awake by 6.30, though currently still asleep while I'm the only one awake. Hmm Dd2 7 will sleep much longer, we had to wake her at 10.30 the other morning!

Hippofrog · 29/05/2020 07:33

My DS is going to sleep later and waking up at 9am. I’ve usually had 3 hours to myself by then. I blitz the house every morning whilst listening to audiobooks, it’s been lovely.

Notso · 29/05/2020 07:39

9 year old has always been early riser. He attempts to go down at 6 or earlier but I make him stay in his room until 7 as adult DD's bedroom is downstairs and is a very light sleeper plus horrendous if woken early Hmm
8 year old usually 8ish but is up now, I think due to bin men.

KittenVsBox · 29/05/2020 07:49

About 6.30.
The rule is no going downstairs til 7am tho. And this was introduced when I found his older brother, aged about 8, playing on his tablet at 4.30 one morning. He was the chronic early riser. No lights on til 6, no getting up til 7.

moveandmove · 29/05/2020 07:50

My 10 year old is still asleep now. He usually gets up around 8-8:30. What time do all yours go to bed if they're getting up at 5 or 6am? Shock

TheQueenOfTheNight · 29/05/2020 08:01

My lark is a lark no matter what time he falls asleep. He's always awake around 6am, no matter how many hours' sleep that provides.

Sameold2020 · 29/05/2020 08:18

Around 7. Still use the gro clock, and this is what time the sunshine comes out. They don't have a t.v. in their rooms and tablets are downstairs and not switched on til after lunch. They can play quietly in rooms, then they go down and watch t.v. until we get up.

Purpleorange1 · 29/05/2020 08:22

8yr old DD is up at 5 but stays in bed till 7.30. She normally just goes downstairs and watches TV. If she's hungry she'll make a jam sandwich. The 15yr old DD is another thread in the making 😂

MrsPworkingmummy · 29/05/2020 08:23

Anytime from 6, usually no later than 7.30. She's a terrible sleeper and is usually in our bed. She doesn't have a TV or games console, but we'll perhaps buy her one in the hope she'll stay in her room xx

Shinygreenelephant · 29/05/2020 08:30

My 11yo I have to drag out of bed at 8.30 for school work. I let her sleep in at the weekend and she will get up between 1 and 3. She goes up to bed around 9 and has all lights off by 10, no electronics in her room. She just loves her sleep!

KittenVsBox · 29/05/2020 08:31

@moveandmove my 9 yr old has lights out at 8.30. My 11 year old is lights out about 9.15. I can count on one hand the number of times the 11 year old has slept past 7am in his life.
I probably can do the same if you let me have fingers and toes for the 9 year old.

What time does yours go to bed?

AvoidingRealHumans · 29/05/2020 08:35

Mine has never been an early riser but he did go through a stage of getting up early and going straight on his game/tablet.

I told him if he wakes up before everyone else he is to read books, no tv or games.
That soon sorted that out, he didn't do it again.
