I guess she is mine as no one has come to take her, and I am always looking after her

but how on earth did I get a 4 year old??

And a 2 year old?

And a 6.5 year old?

Can't believe I have three children and they are all growing up so quickly.

I guess it is because I used to be a nanny and I gave them back at the end of the day!!

I know - my LO is only six months but I can't believe that he's sitting up and isn't breast feeding anymore. My mum kindly informed that in the "blink of an eye he'll be off to university".

kerrykatona · 19/09/2007 14:31

my pair and 5&3, i have spent the last 6 years of my life pregnant or with little ones. now i have 2 children i cant get away with calling them toddlers anymore.

and dd1 is in primary 2, how the bloody hell did that happen

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 19/09/2007 14:34

wehn dd1 turned 7 earlier this year, i went around mumbling 'i can't have a 7 year old, i just can't, its impossible' lol.

Why am I looking at senior schools when she's still my baby (10 lol)

charliecat · 19/09/2007 14:36

I have a 9 year old in YEAR 5. When she had her roller skates on last night she was nearly as tall as me.
OMFG

Piffle · 19/09/2007 14:37

get you lot, my ds is 13 and I can asure you until very recently he was only 3 yrs old....

evenhope · 19/09/2007 14:39

Think yourselves lucky, my "baby" has just graduated from university! How did that happen?!

I fill in forms that say "how many children do you have" and suddenly I'm down to 2, even though I clearly remember giving birth five times....

curlywurlycremeegg · 19/09/2007 14:39

How does it happen DS1 is 12 next week, has started high school and is 5'6", makes me so to see him in his hormonal strops!

Hulababy · 19/09/2007 14:39

My baby girl is 5 and just gone into Y1. That can't be right can it? It was only last week when she was a little chatterbox just finding her walking feet!

IdrisTheDragon · 19/09/2007 14:40

DD is 2 tomorrow, and I'm not entirely sure she is older than a few weeks old really .

Wisteria · 19/09/2007 14:44

My baby is now nearly 14 and has even dyed her hair , ashamed to say I am now officially one of those sad mothers who cries when she looks at old baby photos and says those cringeworthy things that I promised I'd never say like, "look at your beautiful hair, it was so lovely before you started messing with it" and my personal favourite which is "See how lovely you look with no make up on!"

manuka · 19/09/2007 14:49

This is a really good thread! I remember all the cards I got when dd was born, all saying "enjoy every moment because it goes so fast" and I thought they were all lunatics because at first every day was so bloody awful!
Now its not awful and she's FIFTEEN MONTHS!! I am so amazed at how fast the time has gone. I never noticed time before because it was just me and my busy life.

Cammelia · 19/09/2007 14:50

I don't understand why my baby doesn't fit easily onto my lap anymore, how can she be 10 years old and 5 ft already ?

kerrykatona · 19/09/2007 15:47

excellent thread, makes you realise just how precious every second is with the little monsters.

and on that note the computer is going of the ironing pile is going back in the cupboard and i am away to the park with the kiddies.

Hi Wisteria (waving )

My wee small babby is 15 - taller than I, more sensible than I, more eyemakeup on than Boots contains! Her feet are huge, her eyes ditto, boys now look at HER in the street and ignore me for me, for her, at where the time went.

Oh, and I pine for all those tiny frocks and shoes...

Are you stalking me Tanee ?

Tanee58 · 19/09/2007 17:40

LOL Wisteria, yes, that's me in the dark raincoat and sunglasses, lurking behind the Boots 17 display

As long as she doesn't send you a 'my little pony' - as happened to a friend of mine on her 25th .

tribpot · 19/09/2007 18:04

manuka - I'm with you. People said "oh the baby phase lasts for such a short time" and "oh enjoy every day it goes by so fast" and I thought, do you not get that every farking day is exactly the same and equally godawful, miserable, boring and tiring. Now I think: my god, he's nearly 2 and 3 months. How on earth did THAT happen!

I'm sure it only gets worse; my mum's friend said "how old is trib?" and nearly fainted when my mum said "35". Imagine if - as is the case for my step-dad - your oldest child was FORTY!

ProfYaffle · 19/09/2007 18:08

Reminds me of an occasion at work. I was getting a lift with a colleague, he had a child seat in the back, said it was his daughter's. I asked how old she was '35' he said looking puzzled. Yes his daughter owned the seat but his grand-daughter sat in it.

Niecie · 19/09/2007 18:12

I don't think it wears off either. My MIL phones up DH every year on his birthday and says "Oh DH, I can't believe you're XX! Where have the years gone?!" It is always delivered in the same wistful tone of voice. I think he makes her feel old!

Wallace · 19/09/2007 18:21

My grandma can't quite believe that her baby boys are 62 and 70

Shoshable · 19/09/2007 18:31

My Ds turns 30 next year, guess I cant pretend I'm only thirty myself now,

I really really do not fel any older than that tho, theyears just slip away without you noticing.
