I have a 2 and 3 year old. I’m just wondering how often people bath their kids?

I remember as a kid when I only got a weekly bath on a Sunday night, all clean for the school week ahead.

Bottom wash after every poo nappy, bath/shower once a week roughly. Face, hands etc washed daily or several times per day over the sink. Sometimes just wipe face with a wet towel after meal. I don’t use any soap besides when I wash his hands after playing outside. I’ve been thinking a toddler’s skin wouldn’t really like that. Nor do I wash his hair with shampoo, just water.

4 and 6 year old bath or shower every other day.

3 year old DD gets a bath or shower about 3 times a week in the Winter, maybe more often in the Summer when it's hot and she gets sweaty. She doesnt get dirty or sweaty, it seems like a waste of water to bath her every night. Also she likes to have a long bath and I dont have time to sit there for 45 minutes every evening!

Winterlife · 12/03/2020 20:03

Every night when mine were little. Their bedtime routine was a bath, stories, then bed.

CobaltRose96 · 12/03/2020 20:03

Year old DD gets bathed every other day.

RhymingRabbit3 · 12/03/2020 20:03

Those who bath kids 2-3 times a week, do you do the same for yourselves as adults?

I shower every other day. Bathe my child less often. Children dont get as sweaty/smelly as adults. It's the same reason I also dont put deodorant on my 3 year old child.

Hannsmum · 12/03/2020 20:06

Every night when both very little

My dd is now 6 and has a quick washdown in the mornings before school and a proper bath at night

imwellardme · 12/03/2020 20:07

Twice a week during the winter, then every day or every other day during spring / summer when they are hot, sweaty and covered in sun cream

golddustwomen · 12/03/2020 20:09

Bath every other night. On the no bath nights it's flannel wash.

Letthemysterybe · 12/03/2020 20:11

Every night. But their hair gets washed FAR less often!

hauntedvagina · 12/03/2020 20:15

2 & 7, twice a week. They don't smell, and they both have lovely skin. Obviously the two year old gets messy, so hands and face are wiped more frequently.

Gizmo79 · 12/03/2020 20:16

Twice a week as a minimum and more frequent if they need it. Hair wash every time they have a bath. That is for my 3&6 yr olds. My 13 yr old needs a lot of prompting and threats of Wifi to even do once a week (and she is a girl, god forbid the boys end up like this!) I will be hosing them in the garden!

LuluJakey1 · 12/03/2020 20:17

Every night. They are grubby little things.

Lifesabeach86 · 12/03/2020 20:20

4 and 7 year old - 2 or 3 times a week. Used to be every night religiously but it really dried out 4 year old's skin.

Misskg1982 · 12/03/2020 20:25

Every night. It's part of her routine, great way to burn off alittle more energy before bed/to wind down depending on how she's feeling. Plus she loves her bath time.

HarrietM87 · 13/03/2020 16:45

Mine (22 months) has a bath most nights as it’s a fun part of his bedtime routine. It’s only plain water though - don’t use any soap/shampoo on him to protect his skin and hair.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 13/03/2020 16:48

Twice a week age 6

Lynda07 · 13/03/2020 16:56

Mine adult now but always every day as I & husband did. Or shower. Always in the morning and sometimes evening too, depending on weather and what we'd been doing.

DisasterousManagementPlan · 13/03/2020 17:01

Never. DS is 10 and I don't think he's had a bath in literally years.

He has swimming 5 times a week (sometimes more) and showers afterwards. Occasionally I'll tell him to have a shower at home but generally he's clean enough (chlorinated, indeed).

MotherofKitties · 13/03/2020 17:07

Every night. My DD gets in the bath with me and has done every night since she was a few weeks old (now 2.5 years old). It's part of our bedtime routine and I love our little wind down bonding time at the end of each day.

tiggermummy70 · 13/03/2020 21:55

When mine were very little up to 2-3 baths depending on bad nappies.

However it proved to be impossible to with my youngest as she was petfied of water. I mean scream the house down as if the water burned.
It took over a year to get her into the water without the screams.
I would sit in the water and eventually she would sit on my lap and we would play with the water. She would physically be shaking while she did it. Another four months before we got her off my lap and she would stand in the water to play. She would still scream if you got her head wet. I think she was over 2 before she finally sat down in the water[ If ever there was something that made me think past memories were possible this is it!]
She can swim to Grade 5 now!
We commute a long way for school so bathing every night just wasn't something I wanted to do.
Never used Shampoo on their hair.
They are now young ladies and they are capable of getting their own baths and showers etc. We only expect them to have one on Sunday evening. But remind both of them through out the week and they do have a couple. But I think it is important for them to learn when they need to have a bath/Shower.

I on the other hand as my daughter so helpfully told her teacher
"Never bath or shower " Blush - I needed to add AT Home...
This is because of my work I have clean and dirty areas that I am working in so it is rare for me not to have at least two showers in a day/ every day - which is hell for my skin. - I stopped using shampoo over 3 years ago.
My skin needs a break so unless I have done some DIY etc and need one I don't bother during the week at home.

eaglebay · 13/03/2020 22:00

Every night

Bubbletrouble43 · 13/03/2020 22:18

averythinline · 14/03/2020 08:10

DC loves bathes so usually did in morning as play time -was not a relaxing pre bed too stimulating..
