Dirty bathroom

So this morning I was cleaning my bathroom when my MIL came over to see the kiddies, to cut a long story short we got chatting and she asked how often I cleaned my bathroom.

I clean my bathroom 3 times a week bleach and scrub toilet, sink, all taps, shower head, shower screen, bath, wash all the towels and bath mats and mop the floor.

She was horrified and said 3 days wasn’t enough and I was lazy!!!!

My bathroom is always clean tidy and doesn’t smell. AIBU to think 3 times is enough or is MIL right and I must do more?

You're a domestic goddess in comparison to me. Bathroom gets done once a week, quickly.

@Elieza thank you for your comment think you got her spot on. But tbh she if very close to breaking me, every time I see her I end up coming home upset ( but iv never let her see me upset ) she always judges me and thinks she knows my kids better than me, when ds2 cries she will walk over and take him from me to sooth him..... when he is upset he just wants me his mum but to her she thinks she is better. Thank god DH knows what she is like and is there for me

Ignore your MIL. She's trying to undermine you. I clean for a living and believe you me, most clients only have their bathrooms cleaned when I turn up.
Some only have me round every two weeks...and it shows as we are in a very hard water area Hmm.
Once a week is plenty and lose the bleach! Vile stuff!

If you had balls you wouldn’t need to!

Buyitinbamboo · 12/11/2019 17:46

Honestly I'd say you do too much. Disinfecting the bath every day is totally unnecessary. Warm water and a cloth would get all the stuff your DS wants off

Emmajones2517 · 12/11/2019 17:52

I think I’m just in the routine now of doing it but I’m just about to take ds for bath and I’m only gonna use water to rinse

You’ll be lucky if my bathrooms get done every other week! Blush I do the toilets every week but everything else less so.. we live in a soft water area so no limescale thankfully!

I don’t like things being dirty but they really aren’t! We don’t do anything to make them so dirty they need cleaning 3 times a week! Confused

Emmajones2517 · 12/11/2019 18:24

Mine don’t really need cleaning 3 times a week but again it’s just habit I got into I live in an old Victorian house and we have spend so much money doing it up that I suppose I’m worried of not looking after our investment but maybe too OCD on the cleaning ( not in MIL opinion )

Blimey,I only have one DC and my bathroom gets done once every two weeks when the cleaner comes.
Fortunately for me, if our house was partially bad, mil would be telling DH to get his arse in gear and do it.

bobstersmum · 12/11/2019 19:13

I'm not ashamed at all to admit I clean ours once a week, and I wipe the sink down and toilet seat and handle most days, but only a quick wipe while toddler is in the bath. It's enough, unless any of you are especially grotty!

woodhill · 12/11/2019 19:19

I clean mine weekly. May put stuff down loo.

At work plus bad for environment

It really upsets me to read posts like yours - your MIL is a toxic old bag. My "D"M is like this & I cut all contact with her 5 years ago. I honestly couldn't take the stress of it & the impact on my mental health.

I hope you can find a way to, at the very least, just know that what she says is her shit & not "fact". It's not even the same opinion as anyone else who has read your post.

FWIW, I live with my 21 yo DS & our bathroom gets done when it approaches health hazard status. Not that DS would ever recognise that. HmmWink

firstimemamma · 12/11/2019 19:35

I clean mine properly once a week and give it some kind of quick go over a couple more times during the week. Yours must be sparkling compared to mine!

mogtheexcellent · 12/11/2019 19:37

The cleaners do ours once a fortnight. I do the loos a couple of times in between though Blush Grin
