No coats in the car

Hi,

So i know little ones not supposed to wear a coat in the car. What do you do when its freezing out? To get too and from the car?

I think this is absolutely bonkers now.

Are car seats and seat belts bonkers too?

I knew about kids in car seats but not about adults in three point seat belts. Thank you for posting (especially the today link) I will remove my gorgeously warm bulky feather coat from now on.

Aragog - too bulky for a car seat I'm afraid.

Plenty of these products exist on the market but that doesn't mean they are safe to use.

Take the coat off and lie it over them, then put it back on when they get out.

Ah must have changed then. The one dd had many years back wasn't bulky or padded. Was no thicker than a fleecy top. We used to do the strap test thing - paranoid first time mum ;) back then.

Oh well if it passes the strap test it would be OK. Based on the sleeping bags I've had I made an assumption.

This. Plus even before I knew about the safety aspect it never occurred to me to keep coats in in car. I never do it myself, it's so uncomfortable, most be even more so in a car seat.

My DD went on a school trip to Iceland in February and the fleece jacket we got her from Decathon was so warm she didn't wear her coat for the whole trip - including making snow angels in a blizzard. That kind of jacket would be safe in a car seat.
