When did your babies crawl?

I know what the official expectation is but when did peoples’ babies crawl?

Never!
He used to wriggle and roll across the floor, and then starting walking around on his knees.

xtinak · 24/10/2019 10:23

8 months exactly but as you know it varies massively and is relatively meaningless!! Know some 5 month crawlers and some never crawlers.

wtftodo · 24/10/2019 10:27

First baby - on her back at 5 months, on her front backwards at 6.5 months, normally 7 months - and she was the first of her peers by some weeks which surprised me.

Second baby - crawled normally at bang on 7 months

Seven months was when he started doing something like a crawl which was dragging himself along with his legs trailing. Then around 8 months he suddenly clicked and started crawling efficiently and with purpose.

GrumpyHoonMain · 24/10/2019 10:27

DN1 - 10 months
DN2 - 12 months (adjusted age 7 months)
DN3 - 4 months
DN4 - never.
DN5 - 6 months (adjusted age 3 months).

Dd started crawling at 4.5 months, then moved onto bum shuffling at 10 months and didn't start walking until exactly 17 months

Proudpeacock · 24/10/2019 10:32

The week before his 1st birthday - just at the point that I was starting to worry he was never going to move under his steam and I would still be carrying him around at the age of 10.

Carparkticket · 24/10/2019 10:37

Never. I didn’t either. He was walking at 11 months.
My mum said none of my siblings crawled either and took different times to walk.

Emmabryant123 · 24/10/2019 10:37

A week after her 1st birthday.
Then she walked at 15 months

ColaFreezePop · 24/10/2019 10:41

Rolled from about 4 months, crawled at 8 months and then started cruising at 11 months. However she still isn't walking at 13 months.

She did the crawling by stealth at the beginning. So she was put down and then you noticed she had moved but you couldn't work out how she rolled into that position.

madeyemoodysmum · 24/10/2019 10:42

Never. Bum shuffler till 14 months and cruising. Then walked.

Celebelly · 24/10/2019 10:44

My DD is nearly 9mo and not crawling yet. She gets about by rolling Grin She was a v early sitter though. She's a bit of a lazy mare so I'm not sure when/if she will crawl.

Going to baby classes and hanging out with mum friends shows the massive range of 'normal'. Of the four babies in our NCT group who are between 8-9 months, only one is crawling and starting to cruise. The rest are still rolling and working on getting onto their knees to crawl.

Gruzinkerbell1 · 24/10/2019 10:46

6 months crawling, just before first birthday for first steps.

knittedgoldfish · 24/10/2019 10:47

15 months.

Saltnpepper5 · 24/10/2019 10:50

Just be 9 months

RicStar · 24/10/2019 10:53

Dd around 9 months. DS1 18 months (walked at 12 months Hmm), Ds2 9 months (not walking yet at 15 months). Ds2 initial crawl was more of a bum/shuffle crawl hybrid but he can do everything (crawl / climb / up and down stairs) except walk. It took ds1 much longer to do those things but he could walk and talk.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 24/10/2019 10:57

DD1 crawling at 10 months and walking at 15 months. DD2 is only 8 weeks (and 3 weeks early) but born with impressive neck strength and is already rolling about the place. I have a feeling she'll be a fair bit earlier than her sister.

WWlOOlWW · 24/10/2019 11:35

DS1 6 months
DS2 9 months

cortex10 · 24/10/2019 11:40

Never - lots of commando style dragging across the floor and rolling but never on knees - then stood up and cruised furniture for a while and walked independently at 12 months

babycatcher411 · 24/10/2019 11:47

Ds1- I don’t really remember him ever crawling. He went straight to walking at 10 months.

Ds2- At 5 months he was manoeuvring himself around very effectively in a half crawl/half press-up like movement. At 6 months he realised his legs worked separately to each other and that was it, he was off.

CoodleMoodle · 24/10/2019 11:52

DD didn't learn to crawl until she was nearly 2! She walked holding hands at 11mo, and independently at 13mo. The only issue with her not crawling was that she didn't learn how to get back on her feet by herself (didn't know how to kneel), so if she fell over she was stuck on her bum until one of us rescued her! She's 5 now and fine. Still quite lazy, though.

DS was about 10mo when he started crawling, and same sort of timeframe for walking as DD. 15mo now and he's everywhere!

Welshy545 · 24/10/2019 11:55

My dd is almost 9 months and not crawling yet x

Firefliess · 24/10/2019 11:56

Both 8 months. DH was apparently 18 months, and labelled as retarded (he's not, though he's far from agile)
