I know what the official expectation is but when did peoples’ babies crawl?

7 months.

HarrietM87 · 24/10/2019 13:18

The day he turned 8 months. He hated being on his tummy so never did tummy time or commando crawling, went straight to proper crawling from sitting having done a lot of reaching forward for about month before. He cruised as soon as he could crawl and walked at 11.5 months.

My DS is nearly 9 months and not crawling yet. He’s a big lazy spud. Will roll once and that’s it. I’m pretty happy though because I can put him down and be confident he’ll be where I left him!

First one at 8 months and second one at 5.5 months (which is ridiculously early - it was a bit of a nightmare frankly - would have preferred he was stationary for longer!). Interestingly, my early crawler did not walk until 18 months. It meant he was crawling for a year before walking. Of course, then he was up and running everywhere...

PeacefulInTheDeep · 25/10/2019 12:39

My DS first crawled at 11 months. He hated tummy time and never rolled so until then I could plonk him on the floor with some toys and he'd stay where I left him Grin

DappledThings · 25/10/2019 13:28

DC1 about 10 months

DC2 16 months. Bit of a surprise as she'd been bum shuffling since 13 months and I assumed she'd skip crawling. Finally got to her feet at 21 months

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 25/10/2019 23:16

7 months but like a weird unbalanced spider with just hands and feet. He's taking a few steps now and standing without holding anything, and he's ten months. My niece was walking by nine months it seems common in our family

ShiningTor · 25/10/2019 23:30

DC1 - never
DC2 - never

Two bum shufflers.

DramaAlpaca · 25/10/2019 23:32

All three of my boys crawled at 8 months.

They walked at 10 months, 11 months & 12 months.

Minai · 26/10/2019 13:29

Ds1 was 10 months and chose the same week my morning sickness from ds2 kicked in to start crawling which was fun Grin

Ds2 was 8, nearly 9 months

Lazypuppy · 26/10/2019 14:08

Bum shuffled so didn't crawl till 14months then walked at 16months

Expressedways · 26/10/2019 14:10

6 months but never properly cracked it and was wriggling like a worm. She was walking at 11 months though.

blackcat86 · 26/10/2019 14:44

Combat crawling at 11.5 months. Dd is now 14 months and cant be bothered to crawl 'properly'. She combat crawls so well now she basically swims over arm across the laminate flooring.

Frazzled2207 · 26/10/2019 16:06

Both at about 8 months but my mum says I never did, but walked soon after 1

MamaFlintstone · 26/10/2019 16:09

8 months exactly

Mrscog · 26/10/2019 16:11

Ds1 - 1st birthday
DS2 - 6 months

They are still both SO different

sue51 · 26/10/2019 16:12

Dd1 never. She was a roller and bum shuffled till 9 months then switched to walking.
Dd2 7 months.

meow1989 · 26/10/2019 16:14

8 months, then walked at 14 months

AnotherQuirkyUsername · 26/10/2019 16:15

4.5 months , not fun .

RockinHippy · 26/10/2019 16:26

Never she bum shuffled slightly for a day or so & then just got up & walked at 9 months old. She was running u & downstairs by the end of the week.

Worth noting though, that mine went on to be diagnosed with hypermobile EDS & I've since learned that DCs with it tend to skip crawling due to lax hip joints

JustLikeJasper · 26/10/2019 16:26

11 days after his first birthday started crawling, can walk holding hands and around furniture now at 14 months but seems quite a way off walking independently

pastabest · 26/10/2019 16:26

DC1 never really did crawl, went straight from slithering along on their tummy at around 5 months to slithering along and pulling themselves up on anything they could find at about 6/7 months to completely independent walking at 8 months, running flat out faster than I could keep up by 10 months. They were the earliest out of their peer group by months rather than weeks.

DC2 started crawling around 7 months, and crawled around normally/ properly until walking at 11 months. That was roughly similar/ a week or do earlier than most of their peers at the time.

Out of the two of them DC2 has much better spatial awareness. Apparently babies who crawl/ walk very early can miss out a development stage and then have to catch up a bit through their toddler years. DC1 is getting better but is ridiculously clumsy. We didn't realise how much and just thought it was normal toddler tumbles until DC2 didn't follow the same pattern.

ReturnofSaturn · 26/10/2019 16:38

6.5 months

thunderthighsohwoe · 26/10/2019 18:39

Not yet at 11 months and counting! Walks holding hands, cruises like a champion and transfers between pieces of furniture but put her down on her bottom and she’s an angry, stranded little banshee....doesn’t help that the poor girl is too short to pull up on any of our or the in laws’ furniture 🤦🏻‍♀️

Flatwhite32 · 26/10/2019 18:40

The day before she turned ten months. She walked at 13 months, so it was a quick transition!
