Baby had ice-cream. How do I protect against sugar damage?

My father-in-law gave my 3 month old baby ice-cream. I was not asked and was only found out afterwards.
Supposedly it was only a taste on his tongue. I made my feelings known and mother-in-law gave him a bolloking as well. I am so upset by this for many reasons but the main one I'm worried about is how to 'brush his teeth'. Obviously he hasn't got any yet but I know sugar can damage gums.
I don't have a baby toothbrush and as it's bank holiday I can't ask health visitor for advice so I'm reaching out to you. Does anyone have experience with this or know what I can do?

I really wouldn't worry, it was probably the tiniest of amounts

Unclench

MyDcAreMarvel · 26/05/2019 23:05

Doctors give babies sugar when they do blood test. Absolutely no harm will come to your babies gums.
Do you normally suffer from anxiety?

Only a taste on his tongue won't affect him! They shouldn't have done it but you're really overreacting. As long as he hasn't reacted like he has an allergy then just get on with life. And don't leave him with that family member unless they are absolutely sure that he can't have food yet.

🤣🤣

OneToThree · 26/05/2019 23:06

Don’t give it a second thought.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 26/05/2019 23:07

There is sugar in breast and formula milk so your baby will have had sugar before.

FFS

Duster12 · 26/05/2019 23:07

Unclench 😂

MyKingdomForBrie · 26/05/2019 23:07

Oh jaysus. He's fine. Obviously FIL was wrong to do it but it really will not in any way affect his gums.

DramaAlpaca · 26/05/2019 23:07

Chill out, really. No harm will have been done. Your FIL was an idiot, I'd have been furious too, but your baby's gums will be fine.

justasking111 · 26/05/2019 23:08

And relax......

nelsonmuntzslingshot · 26/05/2019 23:08

Bless.

YetAnotherUser · 26/05/2019 23:09

This is your first baby, isn't it?

pastabest · 26/05/2019 23:09

There is sugars in formula and breastmilk as well?

Nothing is going to happen. Any damage will be caused by long term poor dental habits.

Drogosnextwife · 26/05/2019 23:09

Ffs straight to A&E.

3luckystars · 26/05/2019 23:09

Are you asking us how to brush invisible teeth?

MrsBlondie · 26/05/2019 23:10

My child had a teeny amount of ice cream at 3 months. He is now 13 and his teeth are fine. Calm down.

Singlenotsingle · 26/05/2019 23:10

Calm down. No harm's been done. There are more important things to worry about.

GeorgiaTrotmansParachute · 26/05/2019 23:11

Christ on a bike...what do you want? Suggestions for home stomach pumping?

Get a bloody grip.

BakedBeeeen · 26/05/2019 23:11

You don't have to brush a baby's teeth until they, you know, get teeth. (I sort of mean that seriously!)

Lindtnotlint · 26/05/2019 23:11

......... your PFB will survive. Trust us on this one.

Mummaofmytribe · 26/05/2019 23:11

Honestly, your baby will be fine.

Buster27 · 26/05/2019 23:12

I laughed far too much at 'unclench' 🤣🤣
