I feel quite sick and I really need some advice on what to do here.

I have 3 kids and the rule in our house is no smartphones until 12 years old. My eldest turned 12 a few months ago she is the only one to have one so far.

found out tonight that my middle DD ( age 10) has taken (probably call it stealing i suppose) my husbands old phone and has been keeping it in her room, messaging friends.

Bad enough lying and sneaking around then but when I checked the search history she has accessed pornhub and other porn sites on a few separate occasions.

i feel quite sick that she's seen that stuff and I'm not sure what i should do or say next. Am i being naiive will most kids be doing that!?

she said that Momo made her wonder what all this stuff was and the kids at school talk about killing and sex stuff on the internet and she just wanted to have a look

if anyone is there with any good advice please hit me with it I am freaking out xx

The reason she has sneaked off is because 12 is far too late to be introducing your children to social media, this is 2019

Hi Rosie,
Just to say, the next time you post you will probably have a 3 on the end of your name as we had to add it for you because of some jiggery pokery that Tech is doing. So don't panic, you're the same poster! Thanks.

I worked with Momo and there's no link to pornhub - but you are probably right that if she searched Ariana Grande and sex tape came up, she may well have got to pornhub from there, and then remembered it on further occasions.

Definitely get locks on all devices, disconnect anything that you're not using and install child safety locks on your WiFi, not individual devices. Then talk to her about what she saw, what she was curious about. It won't be easy, but she needs to know that what she saw isn't what will be expected of her.

Have you watched the videos she accessed?

thanks anchordown. we did have a good chat yesterday. she wasnt frightened by what she saw, she did know what sex was and from what she said i think it was just pop ups that she closed down.. but i am watching like a hawk from now on. thanks for your reply x

Misssmily maybe if more parents kept there children off social media till 12 maybe they could enjoy their childhood! My daughter was in tic tok for about a day till I removed it!! There was a 10 year old boy basically harassing a 8 year old girl to be his girlfriend because she had a good body shape!!
