I'm a single dad to 3 kids, 2 girls age 12 and 8 and a boy age 5.

I'm looking for some ideas/activity to do with my girls specially my 12 year old as she's been asking if we can do some things together.

We are all going swimming tonight which they are excited for, me on the other hand I'm nervous as hell!!

We do walks in the woods, bike riding, running (with my 12 year old). Watching movies and when they was younger playing with dolls.

Home baking!!

BlueChampagne · 15/03/2019 13:24

Gardening?
Library?
Museums?
Theatre (depending on budget)?
Junior Park Run for all (only 2k)?

Relax and enjoy the swimming - it will mostly be playing around I expect, and an excuse to go in the (warmer) kids pool.

Gardening, grow vegetables, paint, are there any tennis courts nearby? Or badmition, learn to cook/bake

Thank you we have tried cooking/baking but it just ends in tantrums as the oldest doesn't want to clean up!

Do you have a pottery painting place near you? I have found that something that boys and girls of all ages enjoy ( have been with beavers, brownies and guides, and DS went with scouts).

Easterbunnyiscomingsoon · 15/03/2019 16:16

Make bath bombs!!
Candles? Early Christmas gifts?

BlueMerchant · 15/03/2019 16:20

Downhillrider · 15/03/2019 17:47

What does the 12 year old enjoy? Is she a girly girl, sporty, techy, does she like.loud and busy or quiet and thoughtful?

Bloomburger · 15/03/2019 18:08

Jump Street type thing with a clip and climb wall?

Ice Skating or Roller Skating?

Downhillrider · 15/03/2019 18:10

She's a girly girl but she does like going for a run with me but isn't to keen in big sports. She's just at the stage where she spends her life on her phone!

Climbing- there are indoor climbing centres and you can 'boulder' as a family.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 15/03/2019 18:16

Tubing should be fun for all of those ages.

AJPTaylor · 15/03/2019 18:17

Trampoling. Groupon often have offers. Saturday morning pics? It's a quid here and my 11 year old quite likes it

user1496701154 · 15/03/2019 18:18

Games on the Wii. Pamper days, crafts.

Downhillrider · 15/03/2019 18:20

Thank you! Since loosing my wife I'm finding it so hard to do things outside off the house!

We have a rocking climbing place but it's pricey to go

My 12 year old likes climbing. What about card games or board games. Also Baker Ross do cheap porcelain items that they can all paint, much cheaper than the cafes.

SydnayGreen · 15/03/2019 18:23

Forest school sessions, some during the weekend are for families.

fauxhuman · 15/03/2019 18:23

Sorry for your loss 💐

bookmum08 · 15/03/2019 18:25

Lego?
One of the big sets you can build together. The Harry Potter ones are very popular with that age group (yes even the 12 year old).

JiltedJohnsJulie · 15/03/2019 18:25

So sorry for your loss too Thanks

Tavannach · 15/03/2019 18:25

Sailing or canoeing.
I'd give the baking another go. Just establish before that you all have to help clean up.

SydnayGreen · 15/03/2019 18:26

And, 'just being', down time just together.
I work with families and often have to tell them that it is ok to do nothing. Time to chat, time to appreciate having time for each other.

Iamnobirdandnonetensnaresme · 15/03/2019 18:26

Geocaching

Tennis

Basketball

Swimming

Make some bird boxes - using tools with them.

Cycling.

Downhillrider · 15/03/2019 18:27

Thank you! We have a Lego club here which we have been a few times and the girls collected the Lego friend. I've never thought about joining in with them!

We could give cooking another go
