I'm a single dad to 3 kids, 2 girls age 12 and 8 and a boy age 5.

I'm looking for some ideas/activity to do with my girls specially my 12 year old as she's been asking if we can do some things together.

We are all going swimming tonight which they are excited for, me on the other hand I'm nervous as hell!!

We do walks in the woods, bike riding, running (with my 12 year old). Watching movies and when they was younger playing with dolls.

Art? Decorating? As in decorate her room - plan it together and go and get the paint, some new wall stickers and cushions?
Doesn't need to cost a lot but it fills up a weekend and can be lovely project for you?

Trampolining - though with 3 kids, could be v expensive. I'm a widowed mum with 2 boys- it's hard to find affordable things we all truly enjoy... I find myself watching MOTD to bond with them... but we do all enjoy the outdoor gym in the park, and darts!!!! We like playing cards after tea or doing a bit of drawing. I read to my nearly 12yr old every night in bed- it's as much about spending time together as it is about the reading. We usually just get sidetracked into chatting. We go to the library together to choose books- it's just a little trip out , spending time together, doing our thing even tho it's not at all exciting.
Much easier when the weather gets warmer- bike ride and picnics/ frisbee in the park/ table tennis at the outdoor table/
Sorry not much help if your daughter is into less sporty/ outdoorsy activities.

How about board games or card games too? These are great for rainy weekends.

There's a roller disco near to us which is quite cheap.

Agree with the advice of just being sometimes too Smile

Thank you! It only hit me after my 12 year old had a mega paddy and after said why can't things be like they used to be! I wish they was.

I was a boxer and she was bought up around it and helped me out loads, would always support me and train with me. We had a really good bond together but sadly things changed and most off the time it's just now arguments. So things do need to change I know it won't go back to how life use to be but I guess I could make things more fun.

You could all take up horse riding together .

Bowling is fun and all can join in.
Having time on her own when others are in bed is important. Maybe watching a teen movie. Remember a lot of folks have difficulties making transition to teens so don't feel it's because you are on your own or that youre failing in any way.

Just would like to say a huge thank you for all the great ideas! We did rock climbing today just me and my 12 year old daughter and we had a brilliant day! She couldn't off thank me enough for taking her out with just me and her. It's definitely given me more confidence to go out alone in public on my own without help

Replying without RTFT - has anyone suggested bouldering/climbing walls? One has just opened near us and t sounds fabulous. Stuff for all ages.
