How old is she?

GlitzandGlamxx · 14/03/2019 00:24

@HennyPennyHorror only 8 months. I know it's terrible

@HennyPennyHorror yep she has three naps maybe two for about an hour or thirty minutes. Should I reduce them? Or get her up earlier?

Smotheroffive · 14/03/2019 01:08

Goodness! What does she do all evening!?

Smotheroffive · 14/03/2019 01:09

Do you feed her at around five and then do bath and bedtime?

HennyPennyHorror · 14/03/2019 01:15

What time was her last nap?

GlitzandGlamxx · 14/03/2019 01:16

@Smotheroffive honestly it's silly I know I feel like a failure. She plays a lot I take her out etc but when it comes to her last bottle (5th) it's about 9:30! 10!? Is it because I don't get up early enough maybe ?? It's bad on me I know my little girl should have her routine

OP posts:
GlitzandGlamxx · 14/03/2019 01:18

@HennyPennyHorror she had a nap at 12pmthen 4 ish then 7:30 but that lasted ten mins if that I'm alll over the place with it I know it's bad

OP posts:
HennyPennyHorror · 14/03/2019 01:25

Well the 7.30 nap should have been bedtime OP.

So you need a bedtime routine...if she genreally naps about 4...don't let her sleep for too long. Half an hour.

Then start a bath at 7-730 and lower lights etc...keep things quiet and calm.

Feed her her last bottle and put her to bed in dim light or darkness....in her room.

Don't mess around or chat.

Go quietly out of the room.

HennyPennyHorror · 14/03/2019 01:26

And stick to this bedtime routine like glue! She won't always go down....just keep returning and patting her a bit...no chatting though...if you need to pick her up because she's very upset, do it but not for long. Keep returning her to bed.

HennyPennyHorror · 14/03/2019 01:26

And don't take her out of her bedroom!

GlitzandGlamxx · 14/03/2019 09:35

@HennyPennyHorror to do this will she need to !3 waking up at 7?

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 14/03/2019 09:37

What time does she get up?

GlitzandGlamxx · 14/03/2019 09:42

@IVEgottheDECAF if she goes to bed late eg 12 she'll get up at 9, i think I've just messed it up completely

OP posts:
GlitzandGlamxx · 14/03/2019 09:44

If she doesn't nap today would it help her sleep earlier ?

OP posts:
HennyPennyHorror · 14/03/2019 09:46

Getting up at 9 is very late for a baby OP. She needs to nap...or she will get over tired. But no naps after 4-4.30ish And if she does have a late one, make sure it's short.

Wake her up at 7 or 7.30 to start the day off as you mean to go on.

GlitzandGlamxx · 14/03/2019 09:48

@HennyPennyHorror thanks for all your advice I'm definitely going to use it

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 14/03/2019 09:54

Yes i would definitely wake her earlier i think that is your issue but still let her nap in the day. If she is up at 7 she would likely need a nap a couple of hours later, 2 or 3 naps during the day then bedtime routine and bed

GlitzandGlamxx · 14/03/2019 10:11

@IVEgottheDECAF how many hours is your baby or was your baby (if there grown) up for in the day?

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 14/03/2019 10:14

Our days have always run somewhere between 6am and 8pm (except when dc4 did his the day starts at 330 thing but thats another story)

Depending on the age of the baby and the duration of naps they may have between 1 and 4 naps during this time.

I would aim for 7am wake up. See how it goes. Your baby may be ready for bed by 6/7/8pm.

GlitzandGlamxx · 14/03/2019 10:21

@IVEgottheDECAF she's 8 months so is 2 enough? Anyway I can get her tired for 8pm?

OP posts:
IVEgottheDECAF · 14/03/2019 10:26

Can you work out through the day how many hours she typically spends awake and asleep?

All babies are different, i have a two year old who can still nap for 3 hours in the day and sleep 12 hours at night but my daughter who is older did not nap at all past 18 months. You need to know what your dd needs

GlitzandGlamxx · 14/03/2019 10:28

@IVEgottheDECAF I am trying that aha but she can get up at 8am and still be awake by 11 I just need to try get that routine like everyone else has

OP posts:
Nutmeg5 · 14/03/2019 10:36

Yep you need her up earlier so she'll have her naps earlier. My 7 and half month DS starts his days around 6:30am has 2 naps for 30 min each and in bed for 6pm

Nap times are 9/10am and again at 1/2pm then bed for 6pm.
