I am curious to know how many pairs of shoes and jackets your children possess :)?

My 6yr old has 3 pairs of trainers and 2 waterproof jackets. Her trainers last a year or two but I try and change jacket each year, preferably at the start of winter.

My four year old has one pair of shoes, a pair of wellies and some hand me down snow boots. He has a waterproof coat and a padded coat.

Maureen80 · 26/01/2019 00:38

What is the difference between the waterproof and padded jacket because presumably both are warm and comfortable?

How on earth do trainers last a year or two on a 6 year old?? My 6 year old grows so fast he needs new shoes twice a year at least! Coats however I buy a size or two big so they’ll fit him for at least two winters, sometimes more. At the moment I think he’s got school shoes/daps/wellies for forest school, and then a pair of boots for at home. One warm waterproof coat, one extra warm but not waterproof coat, and two lightweight rain coats

My eldest mainly lives in wellies this time of year. I bought him a pair of shoes but they’ve been worn twice all winter. DD needs kickers for support and she has two pairs of them!

My son has a school coat and an at home coat. DD has about 4-5 coats on the go. I bought her 2 new coats this year (for pee school and at home) but last years still fit but I buy two coats each per winter!

When the weather gets a little warmer I’ll buy them a thinner waterproof for the spring/summer. I also tend to buy more shoes in the summer too!

Oh lord too many to be honest Hmm we live in Liverpool and all of ds cousins and friends kids are always dressed impeccably and in designer stuff. I'm from America and in America kids don't wear designer stuff as we think more of comfort. However dh feels bad if our son is the only one from the group who doesn't look at nice so he's constantly buying him shoes and clothing which I think is ridiculous and unnecessary. So shoes about 20 pairs of trainers. Jackets 9. Clothing too much to even count.

marmaladecats · 26/01/2019 14:05

DS, 4, has wellies, some smartish black school shoes and some light lace up boots (not particularly good quality). He’s got a good puffa coat with furry hood and a light waterproof jacket (but a good one, Muddy Puddles brand I think).

Caterina99 · 26/01/2019 16:59

DS(3) has one pair of trainers, one pair of snow boots (we are in the US and there’s a lot of snow) and one pair of wellies. And in the summer he has some water shoe things.

For coats he has a fleece, a winter coat, a gilet and a thin raincoat

JustLetMeSleep1 · 26/01/2019 17:09

My 5yr old has 1 pair of school shoes, 1 pair of good trainers (needed them for p.e.)
A pair of doc Martin type boots.
In summer we buy her sandles.
Cost wize she has a big winter coat, a dressy coat (thank to mum and dad) a few jackets but not ones you wear without a coat.
In summer we will have to buy her a light jacket because she's had a growth spurt.

Rubusfruticosus · 26/01/2019 17:24

My 12 year old has a pair of school shoes, two pairs of trainers (one pair barely worn but needed for camp), a pair of football boots and a pair of hiking boots. All usually last about a year. He has a puffer jacket that's onto its third winter, a gilet (charity shop) and a waterproof jacket (not warm). He mostly just wears a lightweight fleece, sometimes with the gilet.
