I'm so so sorry for your terrible loss. As to how long, it took me until I moved, 7 years. Every single time I looked towards the front window I thought I'd see him bounding up the path. It's easier now and I expect, with time, it will be more gentle with you too. If anyone had given me a way of taking away the pain I would have taken it at the time. Ten years on, it's not as raw, I miss him every single second but it's a more gentle missing. I wish that for you too. Can you talk about your daughter?

I can't imagine your pain. I know people who have been through the loss of a child and it does soften, although I am not sure it ever leaves you. Take each day as it comes and be kind to yourself.
