We're in for a long night...

DS has temperature. DD won't stop screaming. Have managed to get them both down to sleep but I reckon I have about an hour max before one of them wakes up.

Anybody else headed for a sleepless night?

Why is DD screaming? how old is she?

Owlettele · 13/10/2018 20:12

Yes. My two have a chest infection 🤦🏼‍♀️ so I settle one and the other needs me. I hope we are coming to the end of this soon as it's been most of this week bless them. I am exhausted!

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 20:23

@Dragongirl10 she's 9 and a half weeks. She's a bit colic-y, hasn't fed well today, hasn't settled at all. I'm expecting a temperature soon now her brothers got one!

Oh dear 😭 every night is a long night for us! I have a 4.5 month old who has never slept!!

Owlettele · 13/10/2018 20:26

Yes. DS has dropped off but his cough is just barking at night. Poor you with such a little one too. At that age you worry a bit more about temps too don't you? I find that even if they are settled I cannot settle very well as I know they are not right @lexi727 hope it passes and your youngest escaped the worst of it

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 20:31

@Owlettele yeah it's horrible. I've been sat staring at her for the last 20 mins. My DM said to me before I had kids that you never know worry until your baby gets poorly. How true it is!

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 20:32

@HelenMummyof2 oh no!! Hopefully your LO will start to sleep through soon. At least we're not alone!

DD has a cold and a horrible wet cough, she had me up most of the night last night and I'm not hopeful about tonight :(

StarfishSandwich · 13/10/2018 20:35

DS hasn’t managed to sleep for more than 2 hours in a row for the last two nights with hour/hour and a half feeds in between. I’m keeping everything crossed he might go back to nice 3-4 hour stretches tonight! 😬

Dragongirl10 · 13/10/2018 20:35

OH she IS tiny......hope she is Ok op.

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 20:38

@StarfishSandwich you know you're a parent when you're hopeful about managing 4 hours sleep all in one go!

CJ1990 · 13/10/2018 20:40

Yep. My 6 week old never seems to want to sleep! 😴
Hope it goes ok x

SodTheBloodyLotOfThem · 13/10/2018 20:44

Strong Brew to those of you with small babies, DD was an appalling sleeper as a baby and DS has only just started more or less sleeping through at 19 months, it's painful at the best of times. Hope all the poorly little ones recover quickly.

SeaViewBliss · 13/10/2018 20:45

I am in awe of you all. Mine are big now but I remember that feeling of praying they’ll stay asleep.

Hope all you little ones are better soon and hope you all manage to get some rest.

Have you given your ds nurofen. I always find thats the best - next wake up give him some and he should sleep for 5/6 hours.

GMtoBe · 13/10/2018 20:52

I think I'm in for a sleepless night too! DD is 1 next week and has never slept well but refused her nap this afternoon so is overtired and has really bad nappy rash and is uncomfortable. I'm anticipating being up most of tonight.

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 20:54

@GoodStuffAnnie he's had some calpol. He keeps coughing. He's only just recovered from a chest infection, I hope it's not another :(

OP posts:
lexi727 · 13/10/2018 20:55

@GoodStuffAnnie he had calpol at 7pm. Could I give him neurofen next time he wakes up or should I wait til 11?

OP posts:
lexi727 · 13/10/2018 20:56

@GMtoBe it's always when they're overtired that they sleep the worst - for some strange reason??? Nappy rash is the worst, especially when you have to wait the few days for it to heal!

Mammabear31 · 13/10/2018 20:59

I'll be in the no sleep club. DS5 has a temperature and has been complaining of a headache and tummy ache all day, been off his food a bit so expecting a midnight vom. Other DS (2 weeks) has been asleep all afternoon/evening so he will no doubt decide that it's party time when we want to sleep Confused

Topseyt · 13/10/2018 21:02

I think you can give nurofen, as it is an entirely different painkiller from paracetamol. It contains ibuprofen instead.

Probably safe to give it around 11.

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 21:02

@Mammabear31 2 weeks!! So tiny. That's always the way. Good luck!
