We're in for a long night...

DS has temperature. DD won't stop screaming. Have managed to get them both down to sleep but I reckon I have about an hour max before one of them wakes up.

Anybody else headed for a sleepless night?

I'm with you guys. My 15 month old has never slept a night through. And can only settle with a bottle. He has been in hospital and since returning home last week he's been waking 5 times and having to feed him 3/4 of those wake ups. So now he has recovered I've decided I can't do it anymore and am going cold turkey with milk tonight offering warm water instead. I know it's guna be horrendous but hoping to break the habit.
So I shall be up with a angry boy most night!!

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 21:02

@Topseyt I thought it was. He seems relatively settled at the mo so will give him some when he wakes up. DD is awake now though 🙄

@mummy2pickle oh poor baby. God I don't envy you with the transition to hot water! Good luck!

I think I’m headed for a very long night too - DTs both have a cold, DS has a tummy bug as well, neither fully drank their bedtime bottle (DS didn’t even touch his). They’ve spent too much time asleep today, so I think they’ll probably be up for taking it in turns for an all night party 🙄

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 21:13

@Iwantaunicorn we're all in it together Brew

Long night expected ahead here too. My dd is 16 weeks and has had a terrible cough and cold the last few days. Past few nights she has woken hourly as she's so congested. She also had been barely feeding as she couldn't breathe and drink!

But she seems to have perked up loads this afternoon but I'm still expecting a bad night as she needs to catch up on feeds. Meant to be off on holiday tomorrow. Sigh.

Thanks and Wine OP. Hope your night isn't too bad

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 21:31

@GrumpySausage oh your poor DD! That sounds horrible. Hopefully she will manage to sleep through tonight and can catch up with feeds tomorrow instead. Where are you off on holiday?

OP posts:
StarfishSandwich · 13/10/2018 22:05

@lexi727 How’s it going?

Trying to settle DS down now. He’s fed hourly this evening so hoping he’s just been filling himself up after a long nap this afternoon and this isn’t the shape of things to come!

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 22:07

@StarfishSandwich DD awake with me, DS awake with DH :( DD has temp now. She's never had a temperature before so I'm worrying.

How's yours getting on? Is he settling?

OP posts:
GrumpySausage · 13/10/2018 22:08

Thank you @lexi727. She went down at 7 and is still asleep but spluttering. I'm hoping she might at least give me a big chunk the first part of the evening.

Just off to a Haven site in Norfolk tomorrow. First holiday as a family of four! I was looking forward to it but now I'm not sure how I'll feel after a longish drive with a very chatty 3 year old and an off colour baby Grin

GrumpySausage · 13/10/2018 22:08

Sorry to hear your DD is poorly too @lexi727

Ffsnosexallowed · 13/10/2018 22:10

Dd's birthday. We have 4 nine year olds sleeping over.....

bluetit101 · 13/10/2018 22:16

Ive had DD in bed with me the past 6 nights as she has this horrible croupy, barking cough. She shares a room with her sister so I couldn't have her waking her all night when she has to go to school the next day. I think I'm in for night n°7 of very broken sleep!

catshart · 13/10/2018 22:17

Oh can I join the club? Dd 16 months is deciding sleep is for the weak and is yet to go down without screaming. Ds 8 weeks is being majorly clingy tonight and is quite windy.
No sleep in sight for me yet Confused

rosamore · 13/10/2018 22:17

In my house at the moment I have, Dh, brother, SIL, 2 preteen boys, 4 younger children and 2 babies who ALL have pretty terrible colds (the the early signs of a sickness bug have also started to rear their head) and I am the only one 'healthy'.

I've not had a minute without a child curled on my lap/crying in the last 48 hours and I've been running around caring for everyone like a headless chicken.

BF so cant even drown myself in wine like I want to Wine. Thanks for giving me the outlet for a moan OP!

blamethecat · 13/10/2018 22:23

I've just showered 5yo ds as he was crying because his bum itches, he just hadn't wiped properly Hmm. Put him to bed at 8.30, he came into me at 9.30 and we watched 3x numberblocks, tried bed again but he still wouldn't settle, so hopefully this has sorted it. Of course dp is out tonight.
Good luck to all of you with tiny ones, it's so bloody hard when you don't get sleep for 4 and a half years particularly those of you with poorly ones. CakeBrew for you all.

GrumpySausage · 13/10/2018 22:23

@bluetit101 sounds like our two are suffering from the same cough. I was convinced DD had croup yesterday as her cough was so barking. Took her to the docs who said just a bad virus.

Speaking of bad coughs, she's just coughed herself awake.

bluetit101 · 13/10/2018 22:30

@GrumpySausage

It's awful isn't it.
My DD is autistic so can't explain to me what/where hurts so I kind of have to guess with her.
Had her up healthcall Tuesday night as I was so worried it was croup.
She had the flu nasal spray last week and we think it's come on off the back of that. Love this time of year but hate all the illnesses that come with it Sad

Hope your little one starts to feel better soon

StarfishSandwich · 13/10/2018 22:37

@lexi727 poor DD and DS Sad Hope they both settle soon. Has DD had some calpol? I guess all you can do is keep an eye on her and keep her comfortable. Hopefully it passes relatively quickly.

I’ve palmed DS off on DH as he’s refluxy and I’m shattered and was just getting frustrated. DH had a nap this afternoon and wasn’t up all night feeding so he’s much better placed than me to sort him out! Seems to be asleep on DH’s shoulder now but I doubt he’ll accept being laid down any time soon!

lexi727 · 13/10/2018 23:08

How are we all getting on?

DS fast asleep in DH's arms which is very sweet but DD still not down. She's feeling very sorry for herself. Temp of 37.8 degrees. She's only 9 and a half weeks. Worth a 111 call do you think?

OP posts:
StarfishSandwich · 14/10/2018 02:45

How is DD now Lexi? Under 38 I don’t think they worry too much, even with really little ones but I might be wrong?

DS managed to go down at 11ish and woke up around an hour ago (just in time to watch the end of the women’s race at the Ironman World Championship!) so not too bad! He probably actually slept for about three hours if you include the time he was snoozing in DH. He’s just settled again now but I’m being incredibly cautious about lying him flat and waking him up (likely covered in vomit) just yet.

7salmonswimming · 14/10/2018 02:55

At 10 weeks, I’d call 111 to be on the safe side. They’ll tell you if you don’t need to worry. It’s always reassuring, and they can give you advice about ibuprofen / paracetamol for both children. Before 6mo, no worry is unreasonable in the middle of the night.

Good luck.

lexi727 · 14/10/2018 10:12

Both their temps came down last night after some calpol luckily. DD was wide awake until 2am but eventually fell asleep on me for about 3 hours then woke up again around 5am. DS woke up at 1am, was up for about an hour then went back to sleep until 7am.

At 6am DH got up with DD to let me have a lie in but I was so worried about her temp that I couldn't sleep!!

How are all your LO's?

OP posts:
StarfishSandwich · 14/10/2018 10:55

DS was up 1.45-2.45 and then from 4.30 onwards. DH took him downstairs at 6ish and left me to sleep in until 10! I am forever greatful 😍

lexi727 · 14/10/2018 11:05

@StarfishSandwich ahh what a gem 😍
