Just off to bed but wanted to check in before I went. I am also to be forever Bumbo-bereft, Bozza, DH has put his wallet down with a firm hand . DS just has to slump uncomfortably in his (in)activity nest for the meantime.
He has his last lot of jabs tomorrow morning, will be SO relieved when they are over.

libb · 14/09/2004 23:40

Spots, I could easily manage staying at home to be honest! oh well . . . .

libb · 15/09/2004 09:40

I can't believe it! we have had two nights of 10-10.30pm feeds and then going down until 7.30. Although he does wake up and has a good suck on his fingers on and off from about 5am onwards, but this could be because I have been waking to get a glass of water and the floorboards creak (and for some daft batty reason that I can't suss, DP starts snoring when I go downstairs) - maybe I should be giving him a sleepy feed then to help him get back into a proper sleep? - he doesn't cry out for food at all, but it is slurp slurp slurp for a short while (that should read DS getting a feed obviously, not DP).

Not much happening here. DD's back to being unsettled in the evenings. Didnt go to bed until 11.30 last night as she kept waking once we put her down grrr..

Georgina Your DD looks proper grown up in his piccie.

Judd a tooth yeahhh.
Our Carpet is filthy. Cream just wasnt a practical colour. We have to get it cleaned twice a year. Since having DD its even worse as loads of visitors have been back and forth and sick, wee and god knows what else. We also have a cream settee but thankfully its leather so washable.

Baby massage today hopefully dd wont sleep through it again.
Anyone know about this tax credit thing. MIL says that I have to apply by sept but I dont even know what its for. Also I vaugely remember something about a lump sum for babies that goes into a savings account. Think it was introduced this year. How do you go about getting it??

GeorginaA · 15/09/2004 12:24

Just want you lot to know first (well... second after dh)...

... I'm not pregnant

Yes, I did really think I was. I've been so hormonal up and down recently and feeling not quite myself, my last bleed (due to Mirena insertion) was well over 6 weeks ago, then this morning I felt a bit sick so rushed out for a pregnancy test. Tesco don't make it easy for you to buy tests surrepticiously do they?!

But I'm not. So I'm dosing myself up with vitamins and probiotic drinks instead.

Egypt · 15/09/2004 13:28

blimmin eck georgina - thats good news! well, a relief.

sorry to hear everyone is quite down. maybe its the nights drawing in i hate it when they do, so miserable.

yes, that £250 lump sum, you just reminded me. i can't remember how to get it now. i picked up a leaflet from a building society, which said open an a/c with us and it will go straight in there. no idea where i put it and we have since opened a nationwide a.c for her, but forgot about the money..hmm. someone must know.

well done on your driving lesson linnet, and blimey judd a tooth!!!!!

dd has been especially sucky and biting on her fingers. i hope she's not teething yet, we haven't had a sleep through yet! she has been escpecially tricky to put to bed lately too, kbaby. think it's her cold. my mum has just taken her for a walk so i can get some rest - ooops, on goes the pc!

right, must go. bozza hope you can sort your piccies out soon xx

Awww egypt...

Libb well done roobs! We are still having v. bad nights like last night, from time to time... bed at 7.30, then waking at 11.30, 12.30, 2.20, 4.00, awake at 6.30. Each time she's making out like she's desparate for a feed. At the 4. waking I tried to hold off and eventually dh woke to take his turn... Within half an hour she was screaming blue murder and furious, like we were denying her her rights! Kicking and bucking - a real tantrum. I couldn't think of another way to get any of us any sleep so fed her and she went down fine. This is all very difficult. She won't take a bottle or dummy. What happens when she's weaned and expecting meals all through the night...? cheese on toast at five, anyone? and elephantine children?

Tired!

GeorginaA · 15/09/2004 17:10

Aw Egypt, what a cutie!

Ds2 found his thumb today! I just hope he remembers where it is for future naps...

kbaby · 15/09/2004 18:08

Ok,
The 250 pound(no pound sign on my keyboard)savers money youll get via voucher in january.

And the working tax credit you need to go online inland revenue.gov and apply before 31/9/04.
Weve just done ours and we get 130.00 per year

Judd · 15/09/2004 19:18

Well, we've had our final round of jabs today. DS cried and so did I, daft old bag that I am. His dinner proved to be some comfort and then he had a good sleep, but he's been a bit grumpy at the park this afternoon.....although he did have a too small baseball cap on and I kept calling him Brian Harvey - can't have helped, can it?
His little cheeks looked all flushed after his bath, although the rest of him didn't feel overly warm, and he cried a bit so I decided to give him some Calpol "just in case". Of course DH is away and so I'm left feeling glum. AND DD cried because I posted a letter without realising she would want to do it.
I think I need a rallying ready meal from the freezer and a bit of a calm down.

Egypt · 15/09/2004 20:06

judd, try and enjoy your night by yourself. hope the children go to bed early and you can watch what you want on the tv with dh channel hopping and hogging the remote, eat choc and get an early night.

thanks kbaby for the info. is everyone eligible for working tax credits, or does it depend how much you earn?

georgina, he's such a cutie. dd has decided NOT to suck her thumb anymore after such a good start. she now shoves her 2 middle fingers in her mouth which i KNOW will make her goofy big time..oh dear.

spots, i really would just feed feed feed each time she wakes. i never actually bothered to do the dummy thing because she always seemed so hungry, even if she'd not long woken. also it's so much easier to get her back to sleep. i know people say you shouldnt and that you'll make them expect it and it'll become a habit and all that, but dd now wakes once or twice only. it's getting better. ...touch wood. just go with your instinct, and you need your sleep, so if that;s the quickest way to get it...

Egypt, I'm pretty sure that everyone is eligible for the Child Tax Credits, CTC. The Working Tax Credits (WTC) depends on how much you earn. We used to get the WTC and the CTC but when it was reviewed in April we lost the WTC because we'd had an increase in our annual salaries. Well of course we had usually everyones Salary goes up slightly every year! Wasn't helped by the fact that my hours had increased, but I won't go into that. Apply and they will soon tell you what you're entitled to. You can also claim for a childcare element as well I think, we've never needed that part though so I'm not to sure about that part of it.

Bozza · 15/09/2004 22:01

Thanks for the info about the savings kbaby - I had been wondering about that. DD still full of cold and spent all of last night laid on my chest to help her breathe which meant I had to lay on my back - not my preferred position. Also cancelled her injections yesterday.

Right I've had another go with the photo - DD . Please will someone let me know if this works.

Sorry to hear you are all feeling so down. I'm feeling up compared with last week. Even though I got an e-mail from my boss today....so work looms. But think part of last week might have been due to having the mirena fitted - have had heavy bleeding which might have affected my energy levels along with DD's lack of sleep.

DS said to me today "we do love her don't we mummy?".

linnet · 15/09/2004 22:05

awww she's so sweet

GeorginaA · 15/09/2004 22:08

Aw what a gorgeous little smile!!!

Well ladies, I'm off on holiday early tomorrow morning. Back in a week. Don't talk too much while I'm away

Bozza · 15/09/2004 22:08

Guess that means its worked then linnet! Its only taken me exactly 4 months.

Unfortunately I have splilt DS's cranberry juice on the APS camera. Not too bothered about the camera - easy enough to pick up one cheaply on ebay these days, but a bit sad about the undeveloped photos.

Judd · 15/09/2004 22:32

She is lovely, Bozza!
Have a good holiday Georgina. I'm off to bed, absolutely whacked. Am hosting an NCT coffee morning tomorrow so have to be up early to arrange Jammy Dodgers and hide all DD's favourite toys!
DH phoned to complain that he could only find a Beefeater to eat in this evening. NO sympathy from me, seeing as I was forced to eat DD's Fimbles spaghetti shapes for tea...not a baked bean in sight chez Judd

kbaby · 15/09/2004 22:32

If you go on the inland website there is a calculater that if you fill in the details it tells you if your eligible. I didnt think we would be as we earn over 65k but we get 160.00 for working tax credit. You do get extra if you pay for a registered child minder.
I'm dreading going back to work as i have just realised that I have forgotten how to spell or speak. Words look and sound wrong but I cant for the life of me think what they should be. I think ill have to do lots of spell checks on my emails/reports otherwise they will be wondering how the hell I got the job

libb · 15/09/2004 22:47

this tax credit malarky stumps me - we only bring home £28,000 between us and according to the site we are only entitled to £750 per year and no working tax credit. I did my form on line so I will wait to hear from them and hope (with all my bits crossed) that it was just an estimate. I did the eligibility calculator several times before and it gave an approx. figure of £1200 each time. I was a tad peeved to see the final version. I even did a calculation leaving out DP and I was £5500 better off per year (not that I ever could because he is one of my men folk)! Bah! So I have to go back to work it would seem . . . unless I am missing something. That is my rant for the night.

Anyone know anything about excessive burping? In DS I mean to say, not me of course.

libb · 15/09/2004 22:49

I forgot to mention that the tax credit form I completed included our new childminder details so that was taken into account too
