ok, can type more now dinner was ready just as I started typing the first time.

Dd2 woke at 5am this morning, I tried ignoring her but she got louder so I fed her. Tried her with an extra bottle before bed tonight and she took the lot so hopefully she shouldn't wake at some horribly early hour tomorrow morning. Got her weighed today and she's 14lbs 8oz. her weight gain seems to be slowing down now after her putting on 1lb a week for a long time.
I'ts getting quite cold here now and she doesn't seem to have enough wram clothes, going to have to go shopping such a hardship you understand, lol

My broadband modem arrived today, yipee so once I've got it all hooked up I'll upload some photo's and post them. Need to wait on an extra connection cable arriving as our computer is in the living room but the master phone box thingy is in a bedroom down the hall, don't know why it's most bizarre.

Hope you have a good holiday Georgina, off anywhere nice?

sorry didn't mean to post twice.

I find it all very confusing as well Libb. We don't qualify for the WTC anymore, we were getting it but it's now stopped. And we bring home less than you and less than Kbaby. All very odd and too much for my little head at times.

sorry can't help with the excessive burping.

Linnet, it is daft and I do tend to rant about the fact that I have to work and then pay someone half my salary to take care of DS while I do - why oh why didn't I get me a rich DP?! (just kidding )

I am beginning to notice when people find certain times of the day easier to post their updates here, you all must have lovely routines in place. Linnet, please don't be offended when I call you LateNightLinnet! Eygpt, you think you are always early and I am just non stop nattering all day given half the chance . . . bad mum that I am. I am still sussing out everyone else's. double s

The excessive burping is flummoxing me too.

linnet · 15/09/2004 23:17

I'm a night owl Libb always have been. When I only had dd1 I only went online after she was in bed. I've stuck to that more or less since dd2 was born. When dd1 is at school I can go online during the day when dd2 sleeps, but of course I'm supposed to be doing housework but sometimes the lure of mumsnet is just to much.
Once I go back to work I'll only be on in the evenings again.

spots · 16/09/2004 09:13

Libb my DH has always been a big burper. I once asked my mum about it (she is speech therapist and knows all about mouths)and she said it can be that some people's 'throat stops' (can't remember correct term) are looser than others and lets the air back through v. easily. Prob. has something to do with his feeding technique too?

Bozza what a lovely girl. I do like your ds's quote as well!

I did just feed last night. And yes Egypt it is so much easier... she doesn't take that long...but I suppose my main worry is how she'll ever manage without breastfeeding if she does so much of it! I hate the phrase 'making a rod for your own back' but a little Sheila the dentist in the corner of my brain keeps chanting it.

I come to mumsnet whenever she's having a feed at home tho' - so maybe I'm subconsciously willing her to feed more!

Another baby was born in our gang yesterday; a boy. That means there are way more boys than girls in the age group... hmmm. hope they will all like the same games when we hook up on holidays together... some hope...

Twiglett, this molluscum business. Is that related to the patch of mystery skin on your ds last month? Is that what it turned out to be? How was the conference?

libb · 16/09/2004 09:27

Spots, I did wonder if our feeding technique were the cause but nothing has changed in 4 months and it has only been a recent thing. Probably since the rivers of drool started so I am figuring that he is swallowing a bit more. He has always been prone to the odd cough as if something has gone down the wrong way too - I think what your mother says does make sense, my sister is a nurse and she also mentioned it.

Our nights are still reasonable but the days can be hellish, something is bugging him at the moment but I can't figure out what. He has a slight cold and loves the old Vaporub being slathered on a bit too much if you ask me (strange little fella!)

He has started assisting me when being picked up by using his legs to launch off - one of these days he will launch himself right over my shoulder!

Egypt · 16/09/2004 10:26

gosh, all our babes are growing up so fast. lovely pic bozza, what a sweet little girl.

we qualify for tax credits. my measly £400 a month maternity pay makes no difference and that ends this month anyway, so i'll not apply until october, but with dh earning 46k we can get £606 - yeeeaaahhhh, buckets! not - but better than a kick in the teeth.

mum has taken dd for another walk, so pheeewwwwww.

yes libb i am an early person. well actually, i'm neither early or late by nature, i can sleep from 9pm til 9am, but of course i have a little person waking me now. i do go to bed by 9.30 however, as i am too scared not to. i know if we have a bad night i feel s**te the next day. hopefully shall change soon. dd woke q a bit last night. well 3 times, but felt like it was often. then during the 4.30 feed, mum came in and said she could hear a mouse nibbling in her bedroom and would i go and look! so there i was scrambling around behind the pc looking for a little furry thing in the early hours. turned out she could hear the sratching in the loft. we do have mice, but then we do live on what was a farm - our house used to be the pig sty! (still is). must get those rat pellets out...

linnet, our dds are following each other nicely in weight. will get her weighed today but last thurs she was 14.6 nicely along the 75th percentile line. chubba

i know what you mean by making a rod for your own back spots, but i keep remembering what i read in my prima baby magazine - "Best selling childcare author and mum of three Deborah Jackson believes that instead of living in the present with their babies, many parents are preoccupied by the future: 'They fear that if the baby is fed on demand, carried everywhere or cuddled at night, they will never be able to move her on from these "habits". But of course they will. We put them in nappies without worrying that they'll still need them at 25. We feed them on fruit purees knowing that they'll soon progress to solids.' The bottom line is follow your istincts."

May be a load of nonsense, but i want to believe it so i do!

I think I like Deborah Jackson.

spots · 16/09/2004 11:30

yay... debs jackson versus sheila the dentist... SHOWDOWN!

kbaby · 16/09/2004 12:38

Tired today. DD went to bed at 8.30 and I decided not to wake her at 11 for a feed as I was too knackered and just wanted to go to bed. This meant that I was then woken at 12.30 and then she wouldnt settle so I fed her again at 1.15, 5.00,7.00. Met someone yesterday though who's ds whos 16 weeks is on 3 meals per day and is still waking upto 6 times a night for a bf. Makes me almost happy to be woken twice

kbaby · 16/09/2004 12:40

Dp is starting to feel neglected as he says im on the internet too much. I just like reading all the threads on mumsnet. I must cut out this habit.

Im on here in the morning when dd naps and then sometimes throughout the day when shes sleeping on my lap. Also at night if dp is watching some boring DVD.

kbaby · 16/09/2004 12:43

Forgot to add at baby massage yesterday a woman and her husband walk in and as I turn to say hello I realise its the bloke I lost my virginity to 11 yrs ago!! he doesnt live in my area so it was a bit of a shock to see him. We both pretended we didnt know each other

Egypt · 16/09/2004 14:40

oh gawd.......only 11 years ago?! i think you are the same age as me and i fear i couldnt say the same

forgot to say also, that dd went to baby massage, despite being full of cold. very naughty of me, i know. she loved it. was totally oblivious to the massage part, just loved craning her neck backwards to look at all the other babies!

off out tonight for dh's bday...just to the local curry house for an hour or so. mum's babysitting.

kbaby · 16/09/2004 20:26

Egypt im sure thats the only reason dd likes the massage that and the fact she gets 2 whole hrs nappy free, which she loves. I have a stripper in the making

stil have dd on my lap sleeping. ive tried 3 times to get her down in the cot each time she lasts 2 mins before screaming her head off. the last time the only way i could calm her was to put her on the breast. she only had a few comfort sucks but it seemed to stop the screaming. wish me luck im off for attempt no 4.

DD slept the one night on my chest but then managed to sleep in her cot only wakign at 12.30 and 5.30 last night (so there DH and bad habits theory!). If I could push that along to 1.30 and 6.30 then it would be OK for when I go back to work.

Will try and post some more photos when I get chance. Computer is DH's laptop so I am restricted to evenings/weekends when I cna turf him off ebay. Pattern will change when I go back to work. Spoke to my boss today and the date is set for 26 October.

Sorry to hear that you are down as well twiglett. Re the molluscum thing (can you get away from it?!). Turns out DS has several on the back of his leg. Had one but keeps fiddling with it and now has loads (10-15) - but they've appeared gradually. Hoping he will get out of the fiddling habit now he's back in long trousers and pjs as of this week.

Must go now promised Ds I would buy him some "action man wellies" so need to look in Next directory. Next has only 4 pairs - wrong size and will not be getting any more for a month.

Not unless your DS has been secretly sneaking up to Yorkshire and you've been allowing it. Didn't actually remember that was what it was called until your threads started. Then found the piece of paper in Dh's beside drawer with it written on. DS has been swimming, to nursery, soft play etc all the time he has had it which is several months now (before I went on mat. leave hence DH taking him to the doc and having the piece of paper)

aw twiglett, how are you now re: your 'friend'? (was reading your other thread)

dd is currently motionless, watching ronan singing on gmtv.....think she is in lurrve.

am having a bad day too. dh and i aren't speaking. went out for his bday meal and ended up arguing. basically i am a worrier and 'getting like my mum'. so that's a negative thing......did you know? and he can't understand that i dont want to leave my little one for 2 nights and if i did would need to know in advance for feeding purposes etc....

he left this morning without even giving me any eye contact. and its all so awkward as my mum is here. dad will be coming this afternoon then his dad and grandad on sunday. we have no time to ourselves to thrash it out hate it
