I know exactly what you mean Spots. We've been going to London for years and it's never bothered me. We waited until dd1 was 1 year old before we took her to London so that we didn't need to worry about sterilising botles etc, but can go earlier this time since dd2's bottles can be done in the microwave. but to be honest the thought of going to London with dd2 being so small is worrying me and it's so silly i know that she'll be fine, we'll be fine and we really do need to get away.

I think it's the hassle of getting up and down the stairs at the tube station that's bothering me. Although because we're going in October it should be a bit quieter than it us when we usually go in July. Dh's dad stays very central so we try to walk as much as we can anyway.

but then theres all the organisation got to get to Glasgow, get to the airport, get on the plane then get into london after we've landed at Heathrow. It'll all be fine just got to get my head around the idea and then I'll be ok. DD1 is really looking forward to going. Other thing that bothers me is that father in laws wife keeps saying oh I'll take the girls for a day so you can have a day to yourselves. She'll be ok with dd1 but I don't think she'd cope with dd2, she's not the type to change nappies, doesn't know very much about kids and doesn't have any of her own. She also likes to organise things for us to do and I find that a bit annoying we're perfectly capable of entertaining ourselves while we're there.

anyway better go and stop moaning dd2 just woke from her nap.

One day I will get round to looking at all your photos and posting some of my own.
Georgina - snap. Thank you for saying it as it made me feel better about feeling so bad -especially when I have no reason at all to do so. I'm sure it is just hormonal - I hope it is. During the day I am fine, but when I go to bed I feel so terrible. I keep on thinking of how I could practically kill myself. Don't all go getting worried, I'm not about to do it, I just can't stop thinking about it when I have nothing else to think about IYSWIM. But the rest of the time I am absolutely fine - dd and ds are a joy, dh and I got away this weekend and had a wonderful time, we are going on holiday next week, but sometimes my emotions are all over. Hormones hey.....

No longer in London spots, but you are being silly. DD and I used to be absolutely fine. Tip for teh tube is to check the maps beforehand to amke sure that the station you are going to has disabled access, and demand help from staff and other people - I have never had to struggle up stairs with a buggy - somebody always offers to help.
Linnett - If you could fly to Stanstead we are only 15 minutes drive away, and if your Dad's flat isn't available you are more than welcome to come and stay here - we are only 40 minutes by train from central London, and have bags of space - and are fully equipped for toddlers and babies!

You maybe live near my grandmother then Prufrock... she's in Great Dunmow. At least ought to be, but is in a nursing home all of a sudden because Alzheimer's got diagnosed.

So incredibly sorry that you are feeling low, P. and G. I'm sure that knackeredness must have a lot to do with it... No matter how gorgeous and exciting the babes are at the moment they really do wreck you with their needs. There's absolutely no 'me time' with one, so with two it must go into overdraft! Prufrock, don't go thinking you can write something like that and not get a little concerned voice from the mumsnetters in the corner of your living room (or wherever). Come over here and tell us if you need anything from us... we'll see what can be done. Big hugs to both of you. {{{}}}

libb · 14/09/2004 18:32

Evening ladies, how is everyone? GeorginaA and Prufrock - I really hope you feel better soon - please don't stop posting, it is why we are all here - to support each other and give out random hugs because we can.

DS has had 2 naps today! strewth. Our cranky phase has ended but he seems to be suffering from painful burpies even though he is winded. Twiglett, we also get the constant sitting up and find myself wondering how to entertain him next! He likes the floor and even tries to escape the Bumbo given a chance - oddly enough he only rolls when on the bed (obviously in the middle!). But at least someone likes my Axminster . . sob

I had a small weep about work this morning, I still have 3/4 weeks but it is like a dark cloud looming . . . before DS came along I was all practical and "right, at 20 weeks I will return to work and be cheery" - yeah right! I find myself clinging to DS like a limpet . . . which does nothing for his moods!

libb · 14/09/2004 18:34

Spots, for what it is worth I wouldn't find the thought of London scary but the logistics would be!

Twiglett, how do you get around? I can imagine you being mighty sophisticated and black cabbing it everywhere!

Judd · 14/09/2004 19:17

Crikey - there must be a hormonal something going on! I have deliberately kept away from MN because I felt so down and drained - if I logged on, I just found myself reading all the threads and worrying myself like mad. Then I got stomach ache every morning, caused by worry (but not worry over anything I could put my finger on) and worried I would get a stomach ulcer through worry. Its all been a bit exhausting. Hope you are both feeling a little better Georgina and Prufrock...and hope everybody else is doing OK. I will have a read through the thread and see what I have missed.
Our main news is that DS has a tooth! It came through on Saturday and he seems mighty pleased with it.
Oh yes, I do have some other news, but it is giggly girly news.....here it is anyway! DD started pre-school last week and I saw a familiar face in with the parents dropping their little ones off - Terry Christian! I used to fancy him like MAD when he was on The Word although at 11.30pm on a Friday night, I probably wasn't that picky

GeorginaA · 14/09/2004 19:55

Bumbo arrived!

ds2's bumbo

It's funny, but because he's wearing jeans and he's got his muslin draped over the bit that wedges him in, he looks really grown up and "properly" sat upright!

Sorry to hear you're in the same boat, prufrock. Horrible isn't it . I've been a bit better the last couple of days (I've made a real effort to plan stuff in the evenings to keep busy and not thinking too hard which seems to have helped) but dh is going out tonight and I'm trying really hard to resist begging him not to go.

spots · 14/09/2004 19:57

Judd, Terry Christian?? eurggh!!!

I like the tooth bit tho'. Well Grown Judd Junior.

Can't believe you've been feeling miserable too. What is going on??? This is awful, this dark cloud over May.

GeorginaA · 14/09/2004 19:57

Ooops, posts crossed, Judd (yes I know I'm unbelievably slow... was wrestling with my camera to upload the pic!) - hugs sorry to hear you're feeling down too.

spots · 14/09/2004 20:00

It's true G. - you could photoshop a really long pair of legs onto him and he'd look like he was going to leap off and march down the high street.

And BLUE eh? You are deviant!

GeorginaA · 14/09/2004 20:12

Okay, that's weird... it's the green. I think. looks suspiciously at the camera

GeorginaA · 14/09/2004 20:13

Oh and I'm feeling left out with only having a boring beige carpet too ...

libb · 14/09/2004 20:43

Oh stuff ALL your carpets! . I am now properly ashamed and will be sending ALL OF YOU pics of the new one as soon I can - and for your info? it will probably be beige too! subject closed.

In the meantime I will get round to posting the picture where Reuben is reading a book and looking up with his indignant "Do you mind?!" face on.

Maybe we are all having that eek! Autumn is coming on and our May babies are getting on a bit thing - and our manky Summer hasn't helped a great deal either. Have I mentioned working again very recently? . Our chestnut tree in the garden is turning so fast, we should all talk about Christmas and that would just be the final nail ...

GeorginaA · 14/09/2004 20:56

ooo yes... want to see the reading photo, libb

Please don't talk about Christmas... I'm pretending it doesn't exist yet!

Question. Here is a photo of ds1 at around the same age - do they look very similar? ds1

Lots of people say they look very similar, but I keep changing my mind whether I can see it or not!

ds2 (same picture as before but for convenient comparison)

spots · 14/09/2004 20:58

We don't have any carpets Libb. You'd think there was a little white rug next to the computer but it's just a patch of sick from when I'm on mumsnet and trying to wind DD.

Don't be sad about work! When you get into a routine you'll wonder how you ever managed at home all day, I betcha...

spots · 14/09/2004 21:00

It's hard to tell G., even having seen a few photos you don't get a proper sense of someone's face unless you see it in the flesh... but in all the obvious ways they certainly look like members of the same family!

GeorginaA · 14/09/2004 21:13

It's odd... if I catch a photo of ds1 of that age out of the corner of my eye, I'll double take and check whether it's ds1 or ds2. But when I look properly at photos trying to work out a resemblance, I just can't see it.

Think it's probably like accents. You never think you have one because you can't hear it

Bozza · 14/09/2004 21:34

DD smiling

Bozza · 14/09/2004 21:36

does it work?

GeorginaA · 14/09/2004 21:39

Says not logged in, Bozza

Bozza · 14/09/2004 21:50

How do i make it log in then?

linnet · 14/09/2004 22:24

I survived my driving lesson!!! I was terrified just before the guy arrived but it all went ok. I knew he was going to be nice as I'd asked all the students at work who they got their lessons from and he seems to have taught most of them. Plus the girl in the shop at work got her lessons from him as well and she's older than me and said he was really nice and patient. So it all went well, my steering was a little dodgy and I have to remember to keep my hands on the wheel while turning a corner, was doing it all wrong, but got better towards the end. He said afterwards that I had been good for a first lesson in 10 years and that I remembered more than I thought because i was doing some things automatically without him having to tell me, the right things thank goodness. So I'm quite happy and have booked again for next week and the week after.

Prufrock, thanks for your offer that's so kind of you but dh's dad phoned and said that the flat should most definitely be available but he was going to double check with his wife, she organises the renting out of their flats, but it should be fine. I suppose I'd better start writing lists.

I would love to have a beige carpet in my living room. But we got a new one a few years ago and it's a red wine colour, trouble is we've got a red 3 piece suite and I think it looks too much red, would look better with a lighter carpet. I wanted to get natural sofa's and chair but looking at the state of the ones we've got I'm glad we didn't sticky fingers and natural sofas just wouldn't have mixed well.

I caught dd2 trying to roll over today she lifts her legs up and then swings them to the side like she's really trying now so I don't think it will be long before she's rolling over.
Libb I have a photo of me at 5 months sitting in my bouncy chair reading a book, upside down but I'm sure it still made sense to me. Don't have any of the dd's doing that though, although dd1 does love to read hoping that dd2 will also.

Georgina there is definitely a resemblance between your boys. I often call dd2 by dd1's name as I look at her and just think that she's dd1 they are so alike. you'd think by now I'd have managed to sort the names out, lol although the other day I called dd1 by dd2's name, there is no hope for me it seems.

Bozza I managed to completely miss the bit about your ds getting his operation, sorry. Glad to hear that he's doing so well now.

And as for christmas dd1 keeps saying, I'm going to put this on my list and that on my list for Santa and I'll have to write one for dd2 won't I mummy because she can't write yet. I just say yes and change the subject I don't want to think to hard about it all yet.

I love seeing all these photo's must get mine posted.
